Almost Heaven is a quite popular baked goods, coffee, and pie/cake shop. I understand that the demand for the goods is high and the staff may be shorthanded, so I'm taking that into consideration. Trying to keep up with everything is challenging with low staff. The aesthetic of the edifice is alluring enough, and they do a great job with decorations. You're met with the sight of coffees, croissants, cheesecakes, and other goods that look very promising. However, what Almost Heaven does well with visuals, they lack in quality of food, which, as a restaurant, shouldn't be neglected. Regarding the former, the upkeep and cleanliness of the inside could certainly be improved. There were fruit flies in the display shelves and in the air, some dusty spider webs on the hanging lights above, and there were noticeable crumbs on the floors/tables. Again, I understand that there may not be enough staff, but the sight of fruit flies on the cookies and cheesecakes is off-putting. Regarding the food, there is a wide selection of sweets, from milkshakes, smoothies, cookies, cannolis, cheesecakes, and others. There's also paninis, melts, and other sandwiches with breakfast and lunch varieties. I have tried the Mountain Mama and the Breakfast Melt Croissant; the former was actually quite good but the latter was nothing special. I've tried the hot chocolate, several different cookies, a slice of the classic cheesecake, and the seasonal pumpkin pecan caramel pie. Unfortunately, I wouldn't order any of these again. Everything was too forward with sweetness. I get that desserts are supposed to be sweet, but it was almost as if the whipped cream was store-bought and that there was far too much sugar in the stale chocolate chip cookie. I'm not sure how long the desserts are kept in the displays, but it seems that it's too long. Lastly, wait times can take a while. I once ordered only a panini and waited 18 minutes for it to come out, and the pretzel bun was burnt. Ordering a coffee or other drink doesn't seem to have long wait times, however, so it's possible that the staff was prioritizing easier orders. Still, if the sandwich is "premade" as one of the employees mentioned, then 18 mins is too long to wait for one thing. Overall, if I could give 2.5 stars, I would, but I'll round up because I haven't tried the entire menu. Certainly a lot of room for improvement for AHD. The price for the quality of food is very mismatched, and unless they get better ingredients and have fresher goods, then I'll have to skip out of visiting the bakery again.

Great way to start the day...Avacado toast with goat cheese and an egg and a cup of fruit. Delicious..... Not the friendliest staff but yummy start to my day.

Great little coffee and sweets spot!

We stopped here today while visiting from Martinsburg. A friend of ours recommended this spot and glad we listened! We got the Mountain Mama breakfast sandwich and coffees. I also got a pistachio cannoli which was amazing! They also make huge pepperoni rolls which we ordered on our way out. The ladies working were very friendly. We will definitely return when in the area again! P.S. Go ORIOLES!!!

My husband and I were looking for breakfast food on the way home from WV, and this place was an accidental gem we stumbled upon! The food was delicious, the vibe was chill, eclectic, and homie, and the staff was super nice. Wish we could have ordered dessert to try, but we had to head out. Would try again if we come back to Bridgeport!

This place is fab. Low key environment, high thread desserts, coffee, , açaí bowls, smoothies, sandwiches, paninis, salads, and more. It's super small inside, with 3-4 small tables for 2 people each. There are a couple of small tables outside. So plan to take your food to go unless you get lucky. Even "off times" are busy. I wish I could recommend my #1 fave item from here, but everything is good. Some of the best... vanilla latte, peanut butter pie, Chamborg cheesecake, Cobb salad with garlic dressing. You can't go wrong here. And be sure to walk across the street to Market on Main, as of March 2022, for some great finds.

This was my first visit and I'm Beas thrilled to find gluten free dessert options. I picked these up for my birthday. Service was quick and professional. There were several customers coming in and out while I was there and most of them seemed to be repeat customers. There is a parking lot attached to the building and also one across the street. The inside was cozy-chic and clean. A cute establishment. They also have gluten free options available for breakfast and vegetarian. I look forward to stopping back in next time I'm in Clarksburg or passing through. Prices were reasonable for gf... about $5 an item.

Christmas break road trip to WV--next stop is a divine one at Almost Heaven!

Great lunch options for vegans and vegetarians here!! Our Buffalo-based family recently road-tripped down to the Bridgeport area for Christmas break to explore this part of WV. We decided to have lunch one day in the Bridgeport village area, which brought us to Almost Heaven Desserts. Yes, they have desserts of course, but they also have a nice menu of sandwiches, wraps, salads, and acai bowls too. Our family consists of a vegan and three vegetarians, and the menu had something for everyone! :-) Our vegan teen daughter had an acai bowl and avocado toast. My husband and I each ordered a vegetarian sandwich, one breakfast panini and one caprese mozzarella sandwich, and swapped halves to each try both. And our tween son had the pretzel bun breakfast sandwich with no sausage. The staff was very friendly and accommodating of all of our dietary needs. And the whole fam' was happy with our lunches! The sandwiches I shared with my husband were sizable and flavorful, both with yummy melty cheese. Our son was also happy with his cheesy breakfast sandwich. Our vegan daughter liked the avocado toast so much she asked for another. Since we were on vacay and she's such a healthy eater in general, we obliged. :-) So not to miss out on the restaurant's namesake, that being desserts, I had to try something--twist by arm! :-D They are known for their pies, so I went with a slice of their homemade peanut butter cream pie. Absolutely YUM. It was whipped and airy, but also very filling and decadent. If I had room to eat another slice, I would have! Delish'! My husband had a cinnamon roll, which was HUGE and delicious. The restaurant itself is fairly small, with a few small tables, mostly two-tops. We lucked out and hit it at a time when two two-tops next to each other were vacant, so we could slide them together. The tables stayed mostly full the whole time we were there, so dining in may be tricky. It looked like they had some outdoor seating for warmer seasons, which may make eating there easier in those times of the year. There is a reason you may run into long lines at the counter here--Almost Heaven Desserts indeed serves heavenly desserts! But they also have a nice lunch menu if you want to pre-game your divine dessert with a hearty homemade lunch. With a full barista coffee menu too, this makes for a lovely place to spend a sweet and savory afternoon.

Enjoying our iced coffees and were able to get coffee beans to make our own at home

Great place for a coffee date or snack or desert with a wide range of each! Always clean and nice looking inside typically with nice look employees. Always super efficient with your orders and you'll have trouble finding something you don't like on the menu. Would highly recommend going any day of the week!

Deserts are good but outragiously expensive. Great coffee but not worth the cost. 42.00 for mini cookies , not again

Coffee isn't so good, desserts are par. Especially for the price. Not sure that I'd recommend.

Sept, 2025. Tomaro's Bakery, in the Glen Elk section of Clarksburg, WV, is "West Virginia's oldest…read moreand finest Italian bread bakery", specializing in pepperoni rolls, breads, and other bakery goods. They've been in the same location for over 100 years (since 1914). Local friends regularly stop at Tomaro's for pepperoni rolls after church on Sunday mornings; we were the lucky recipients of a bag full during a recent visit to Clarksburg. You might ask, what exactly is a "pepperoni roll"? A West Virginia regional specialty, it's a soft white, yeast-leavened bread roll filled with pepperoni (sticks or slices), and sometimes cheese. These were originally created by Italian-American immigrants to be a portable, non-refrigerated lunch for coal-miners in the early 20th century. Tomaro's carries on the tradition, and their pepperoni rolls have been voted the best in Harrison County annually from 2018-2025. If you can't make it to Clarksburg, they also distribute the pepperoni rolls to some groceries, such as The Local Market in Morgantown. We recommend the pepperoni rolls from Tomaro's Bakery -- they're especially tasty when warm and fresh from the oven!

They need to put a best by date on their pepperoni rolls! The ones we got today were so dried out…read moreeven dipping them in something wouldn't help. We picked out the pepperoni and threw the bread away. What a waste of money, never had to do that with the original owners.
