The guides were friendly and very knowledgeable. The tour is 2 hours and worth every penny. Highly recommend this tour.

We did the ATV tour last week, and it was such a blast! Pono was our guide and he did a great job of educating us on how to properly utilize the ATV's. It was my first time on an ATV, and it was very beginner friendly. I definitely got a little bit of an arm workout! There's also the option to ride in the UTV if you dont feel comfortable on the ATV. You are likely to get a little muddy or dirty so be sure to dress accordingly. There was a lot of cultural learning & activities included in this tour, which was great. Not only do you get to ATV through the tropical landscape, but there was a lot of wild life as well! We saw pheasants and baby pigs on our tour. They also have really cute merch & products made my local artisans in their shop. We highly recommend Aloha Adventure Farms!

Our first time ever riding ATV's and the tour guides were excellent at instruction, encouragement, and making you feel comfortable. It was such an awesome experience, beautiful grounds, and history stories. I would highly recommend it. Mahalo, for the fun times and memories!

Our family had so much fun riding the ATVs! Our tour guides were great, they were friendly, fun & patient. It was my 16 year old's first time driving & he loved it. My 12 year old daughter had to sit in the UTV with the tour guide but she still enjoyed the tour. There were several stops, where we learned about different cultures. I highly recommend this tour.

This was most fun activity I've done on this island during my 4 day stay. The guides were definitely informative, fun, funny. They taught us about the culture & how to open a coconut. We played a couple games. They even fed us some poi. It was awesome.

Wow what an experience! We did the wood carving activity that they offer. I was a little iffy at first on how it would turn out but I worried for nothing. Mani was the expert that oversaw our session. He was great at instructing us, haha and fixing, our carvings when needed. I want to bring my little one next time!

My cousin Pono is one of the tour guides at Aloha Adventure Farms on Big Island of Hawaii. We did a tour with him for the first time this past summer and we had a blast! You learn so much about the islands and culture. You get to try some freshly shaved coconut and delicious pineapple. It's a 2hr tour on an ATV, and you stop at the different stations where they teach you about Hawaii, Samoa, and Tonga. It's so much fun, we will be doing the tour again with a bigger group next time. It is pricy, so be prepared to spend a pretty penny. It's worth it!

    Tiki carving

The tiki carving experience was one of the best things we did on our trip. Mani was so helpful and made sure we all went home with a beautiful piece of art. He was especially encouraging with my 9 year old who did it without any help from us parents. We learned a lot and loved spending two hours at this beautiful place.

Starting our adventure waiting at the gate!

From the moment we arrived, the team was welcoming, organized, and enthusiastic. Directions were clear, parking was busy but easy (out of anyone's control), and Brayden greeted everyone immediately upon his return from the previous trip. He was confident, professional, and kept the entire group informed, organized, and comfortable throughout the experience. Once aboard, the captain and his female crew member, Brayden and Carlo made sure everyone was safely seated, equipped, and ready to go. The captain operated the boat with confidence and precision, making us feel safe the entire time. I'm someone who gets sea sick very easily, but the trip and a quick 3 min ride out. He positioned the boat quickly and we were in the water within a couple of minutes. In the water Brayden and Carlo constantly communicated, positioning the float so we could focus entirely on the manta rays instead of worrying about other groups or drifting. Brayden was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing facts about the mantas, calling out their names and pointing them out as they approached, and making sure everyone had the best possible view. We never had to think about anything except enjoying the experience with our family. Getting back on the boat and returning to the dock was just as seamless. Within moments of tying up, our shoes were lined up waiting for us, and we were on our way. This is a first-class operation with an exceptional crew. We couldn't recommend Dolphin Discoveries more highly and will absolutely book with them again the next time we're on the Big Island!

It is recommended that you wear long pants (but some did it in shorts) and requires that you have shoes that cover your toes (no water shoes or sandals). I did it in work out legging and sneakers and my boyfriend did it in jeans and hiking boots. We were both fine and neither of our shoes melted though at one point, his feet got really hot bc I made him stand by the lava for so long for a picture. Bring a good amount of water or your camelback and a hoodie bc it was cold in the morning. They provide you with good headlamps and flashlights since you are hiking in the dark. We were in a group of 12 or so and we loaded up in their nice van and drove out to start our hike. They take you as far as you can go on the road (where people would be otherwise renting bikes or walking) so it saves you some walking. From there, it's just up the lava you go. It was nice that the tour guide told us to take a look at the lava rocks and the texture which was glass like. Basically a warning to tell you don't slip and fall bc this stuff might hurt you. As we walked, it sounded like glass shards breaking under us and we walked towards orange glows up the mountain. Eventually we made it while it was still dark and it was crazy you could feel the heat as you got close to the lava. We spent an hour or so taking pictures of and with the lava and relocating to a few other areas with lava as it eventually got light. We hiked back down the same way and ended around 8:30am. Highly recommend this company as they do a good job making everyone feel safe and we completed the hike at a nice pace. They do not allow kids under 12 and it's probably not recommended for anyone over 50. There are parts where you might have to hop down or take a big step up or down and keep your balance. Our group did a good job and most were in their 20's and 30's and maybe one brave solo hiker in her 40's. Super worth it to wake up early and experience this in Hawaii!

We did the sunrise tour, which I would highly recommend. You get to the flow while it's still dark and can watch the sunrise out of the ocean which is another awesome aspect. Parts of the flow were breaking away while we were out there causing new patterns of flowing lava, it's just ever changing the entire time you're watching. A bonus was while on the way back, we came upon a pod of bottle nose dolphins and they swam along with us for awhile. No sooner we left those to continue to the dock, we came up on a pod of spinner dolphins. We absolutely recommend this and it is worth every single penny. Looking forward to doing this again next time we're on the island

Keep in mind there is no snorkeling on this excursion and the area around the Hilton is not safe or appropriate for snorkeling. I am writing the review solely on the lava field excursion part. My wife was very dissapointed that there was no snorkeling as we purchased new snorkeling equipment. Roxy was our tour guide and was probably the most knowledgeable and professional tour guide we have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Roxy was knowledgeable in the history of volcanoes on Hilo and elsewhere, horticulture, bird species, animals, Hawaiian culture, tourist attractions, history of the Hawaiian Islands, tribes and Capt. Cook, beaches, teachings, burial practices and so much more. Roxy told stories of the early days in Hawaii and how it evolved. Also as a noted her driving and safety practices were impeccable. If you are planning to come to Hilo you must make it a point to reach out to Roxy. We spent approximately 8 hours on the tour and it was so enriching although the lack of snorkeling was a dissapointment . Highly recommended Mahalo

An Amazing Kona Coffee Experience…read more Greenwell Farms was one of the highlights of our Big Island trip! This is a coffee farm and tour experience, so just to clarify, they do not serve food here. The experience is focused on learning about how Kona coffee is grown and processed, touring the farm, and sampling their coffees. Our tour was about an hour, and we had such an amazing time. Our guide was a woman whose name I believe was Leilani (possibly Lenny or Lee), and she was absolutely adorable -- especially walking around in her cowboy boots! She was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole experience really enjoyable. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone who visits. Because of a major storm in May, the farm had suffered significant damage, including losing a bridge, so we received a modified tour. Even with the changes, we learned so much about the coffee-growing and production process, and it was fascinating to see everything firsthand. Hearing about the damage they experienced also gave us an even greater appreciation for the farm and what they've been working through. The tour is outdoors and seems appropriate for a wide range of ages. We happened to have a cloudy morning, so the weather was perfect for walking around the farm without getting too hot. Parking was easy and available right on site. A little tip: Wear comfortable sneakers and make sure you have good balance. There are some areas of the farm with gentle inclines and declines, so it's not completely flat. Since the bridge was out, there was also less walking than there normally would be. And of course, the coffee sampling was such a fun part of the experience! If you're visiting the Big Island and want to learn more about authentic Kona coffee rather than just buying a bag at a store, I highly recommend putting Greenwell Farms on your itinerary. We're so glad we went. It was educational, relaxed, beautiful, and genuinely fun -- and our guide made it that much more memorable. Mahalo to the Greenwell Farms team for such a wonderful experience!
