And I said can you bring me this sweatshirt in a small instead of a large. And she said "oh maybe not a small but I can get you a medium" in a very smarmy tone. And she came back. she repeated that to me again, "Well, I didn't get you the small one, but I brought you a medium instead." This was a very oversized sweatshirt, mind you, not something that I could stretch out. She was definitely insinuating that I was too big for the smaller sweatshirt. I'm still in shock that she talked to me like that. Rating three stars because I still found two things that I liked.

It was incredibly cute, and you a great history about the local jewelry artist, and those amazing Sun shells!!! They opened up to little back room areas as little separate yoga/sports area and a discount area. I was surprised to find out that this company also has a store that opened in Colorado and an online store as well!! So, if you like any of the pictures, I posted, please Google them and find them online!! Incredibly cute Boutique that I will always come back to when I visit Hawai'i. Hee

My friend and I were visiting Waimea for a day trip. She was SUPER excited to visit The Uiha Hat…read moreBar because they make personalized cowboy hats. She had just bought new cowgirl boots, so she really wanted to get a hat to match. This is an area of fashion that I know absolutely nothing about, but after visiting this store with her, I felt they needed to be put on the map for others who are interested. The Uiha Hat Bar by Hula Tease just opened up a pop up location in The Parker Ranch Center in Waimea (Big Island). They said that they plan to become a permanent tenant in the center by later this year, though. They are open from 10 am - 5 pm Mon - Sat and closed on Sundays. Here's how it works...you walk in to the store and pick out a cowboy hat that you like. They come in various colors and sizes. The sizes are very specific (like down to 7 and 5/8 as a size kind of specific). However, I believe they can adjust/shape it if the size still doesn't fit you just right. I saw the employee doing this for another customer until she was completely happy with the fit. For an additional cost, you can customize the hat. My friend wanted to put her name and the number 93. Each letter/number is imprinted into the hat wherever you want it with a branding iron. You can watch the employee do it for you right there in the store. Although getting something like this is not my style, I felt very fortunate to have experienced this with my friend. She was so happy with her final product! I was impressed with the super friendly customer service we received and the excellent craftsmanship that was put into every letter/number on her hat.

This is a MUST-DO experience in Waimea on the Big Island. At Uiha Hat Bar you're able to craft your…read moreown custom cowboy hat. To start off you find your perfect hat from their selection of 3X Beaver-blend cowboy hats. They have different colors and sizes to fit your head and style perfectly. I went with their dark brown color and tried on a few different sizes before finding the perfect one. In the hat bar, they have examples of all the different colors and all the embellishments you can customize your hat with. I have the tendency to over embellish so I tried my best to practice self-control and go with a simple quilt print branding on the side and a shell necklace around the hat. Every brand is $3 each and they have a lot lot local designs and of course lettering to custom brand your hat with. More than just getting a custom hat, this is an entire experience. It was so much fun looking around the hat bar and the service really made it such a great memory. In true Big Island fashion, I randomly ran into my uncle, aunty, and cousin in the parking lot and so grateful for this keepsake that I will always have a remember this trip by.

If you have shopping to do definitely go to Parker Square. That is where Bentleys Home Collection is located. I love everything in the store and ended up buying a couple trivets. I bought one big one with a pineapple and a small one with a plumeria. Later I ended up giving the small plumeria one to my sister. I really needed another big trivet the size of the pineapple one, so I called the store a few months later and they shipped me another one. Pass on the kitschy ABC Stores and tourist traps down by the ocean and head up to Waimea one day. Take a side trip to the Waipio Lookout and grab lunch in Waimea too.
