All three of us were pleasantly surprised at the wonderful treatment we were given. I have thick coarse hair and not every stylist can manage my hair. Seemed nice at first. Very good English. From Texas originally. But did not color hair as asked. Much darker than picture shown. Did attempt to fix with color oops but ended up pushing products at the end which I originally said no to but ended up putting in the bag and charging me much more than I realized and also charged for things during the cut and color service like shampoo, conditioner and hairspray! Then charged 21% vat on everything which bumped my bill to twice as much as I had originally intended. I will take ownership of being pushed to buy overpriced products I didn't need but I said no once then just wanted to get out of there. He came across as nice but then I felt scammed when I left. I will say the facial his female employee gave me was top notch and I would recommend that. read more

It sounds super crazy, but I am a New Yorker, currently living in NYC, who annually gets her haircut by Alonzo in Madrid! He really is that amazing. I started a few years ago when I happened to be in town and passed by the salon and felt like going short. With super short hair, medium hair length, and now longer than ever, Alonzo always handles my hair with care and absolute expertise. Whenever I get my hair cut by him, I don't have to say much, and he just performs magic. He just knows! He is funny, charming, extremely talented, and I wish he could set up shop in NYC. Esta reseña va de manicuras! This review is purely based on my manicure experience over here. Short version: I'm medium happy with it. The girl / woman does know what she's doing, however the result wasn't really good and I would defenitely recommend to get your manicure somewhere else. Long version, a.k.a. Story telling I LOVE getting manicures; it's my favourite, special "me-time" to clear my head, get creative, and just relax for a bit. And what better than to do this, while being in a foreign country? It's not that I'll be making conversation or engage in small talk as I don't speak the language whatsoever. Brilliant! Found this place nearby and no photos or reviews on Yelp yet. No guts, no glory! Off to try the manicure at Alonzo's! I was put in a hairdresser's chair and the girl pulled up a stool with a little table. She is knowledgable as in: cleaning your nails & clipping your cuticles. Filing my nails was quite roughly done and I still had split nails so I had to ask her to redo it. I was surely not impressed with how she polished my nails and the end result; I got quite some nail polish on my fingers & the sides of my nails. She did removed most of it with a q-tip at the end, but there's still nail polish in places it shouldn't be and its just not neatly done. The plus and therefore, I can't be mad or too disappointed about this: the price was only €12.-. And, to be fair, this is not a nail salon. This is far and foremost a hairdresser that provide 'extra' beauty services such as manicure, pedicure, make-up, hair removal and waxing, and massages. So it's not the professional nail salon I'd hoped for. Will go to a different one later as my nail polish has chipped already. Jammer! read more
