Been going to this vet a long time. Dr Greenfield is awsome. Prices have went skyrocketing. They have allowed in my opinion allowed are dog die by not allowing to accept pre dated dated check for emergency care. A senior on social security. But took $300 the previous month. So seeing a 14# dog in pain they wanted $114 To put her asleep. She died in pain under my bed. Not very pleasant. Having been an owner of pets there for 12 years. I hope they can live with their policies. read more

Dr. Hein offers many equine services like joint injections, chiropractic adjustments, laser therapy, PRP injections, etc. that are not offered by other local vets. Without these services I would have to haul my horses long distances for treatment. I sincerely appreciate everything Dr. Hein and her team do for us. read more

In the past year I have had to put my two senior dogs to rest. Both Dr. Greenfield and Dr. Jack were amazing through this hard process, not only for myself, but for my whole family. Dr. Greenfield sat with me for little while after putting my dog Joe to rest and she told me that I had given him the best life he could have ever had, she didn't have to do that, but she did so out of the kindness of her heart. Not only is Jo a wonderful veterinarian she is a beautiful person and a kind soul. Dr. Jack was with me most recently when I had to put my dog Lucy to rest. As soon as she came into the room and looked at Lucy she could see that she was having issues. I told Dr. Jack that I do not want Lucy to suffer because she was a great dog and deserved a peaceful life. Blood work was done and Dr. Jack diligently tested for everything that could be causing Lucy's ailments. I knew in my heart that it was either going to be diabetes or cancer just by the symptoms she was experiencing. The tests came back and all signs pointed to cancer. Dr. Jack went through all of the results, explained all the numbers, weighed all possible treatments, and discussed outcomes. I decided that it would be in Lucy's best interest to be put to sleep. Her blood glucose levels were almost at 600. She had been too good of a dog to allow her to suffer anymore. During this process the entire staff were so kind and thoughtful. I feel so safe leaving my FurBabies in the care of all the staff at Alpena Veterinary Clinic. They are wonderful! read more

i was vacationing in the area last week from NYC when my 15 year old Shih-Tzu (Baxter) fell ill. I made a same day appointment and was seen promptly. Dr. Jack actively listened to his symptoms and medical history, reviewed the medications he was taking, contacted my NYC vet, examined Baxter and hypothesized liver damage due to his current meds. Dr. Jack then ran a blood test and confirmed her diagnosis. She exhibited compassion, professionalism, expertise and a sense of humor. Baxter was treated for nausea and dehydration and put on a course of treatment which was fully explained to me. All my questions were answered to my satisfaction. There were no delays and the cost was exceptionally reasonable. Baxter was eating later that day and 48 hours later is back to his old spunky self. I wish I could move Dr. Jack to NY. Fabulous care from her and her entire staff. read more

I swear this place is the poorest in animal care. I took my cat in many years ago cuz he quit eating or drinking and i was worried. Dr woolman is the vet who looked at him did no testing just looked him over said its probably an ear infection put x medicine in his ears. I paid the bill didnt quite have enoigh for the medication so they refused to give it to me. Here my cat something really wrong not happy at all with the attitude or the way the business is run and not knowing what to do. I called the other vets in the are and thank the goddess. Switzers were willing to help me and put me on auto pay. Come to find out my cat has severe asthma which he now on steroids for and the levels that their drs and staff go to is by far superior to this alpena vet clinic. Yes switzers is a little expensive but the quality of care is beyond awesome the staff and drs at switers actually care about you and your pet. Cant say the same for any other in the area especially alpena veterinary clinic read more

I was on vacation near Alpena when I needed care for my dog who developed sores on her head. We were welcomed at this veterinary clinic with a wonderful staff; and they took the time necessary to diagnose and treat my pet with complete accuracy. Dr "Jack" was so warm and easy to talk to and answered any questions I had. They called a couple days later to see how our "Molly" was doing! I will definitely recommend this veterinary clinic to others. And will definitely call them again when in the area and in need of treatment for my pet.
