Unfortunately, after collecting the retainer, there was very little communication and no meaningful progress on my case for approximately four months. During that time, I sent multiple emails and placed many calls requesting updates and asking about the status of my matter. Most went unanswered. When I attempted to call, I was repeatedly told he was unavailable, in meetings, or on vacation. Despite my efforts to communicate, I struggled to get any clear information about what work, if any, was being done on my behalf. When I finally expressed concern about the lack of progress and communication, I was told that he was servicing over 500 clients and was asked whether he had done a good job for me in the past. When I called again today to ask why my matter had not been addressed, I was told I was "holding a gun to his head" to get the work done because 30 days ago when I called asking for assistance, I mentioned I would contact the bar association to seek help. My frustration is not only with the lack of progress but also with the lack of professionalism and respect shown throughout the process. Clients deserve timely communication, transparency, and responsiveness--especially after paying a retainer and trusting an attorney to handle an important legal matter.
