The nurse practitioner I saw didn't want to perform one on me because I had already had one done two years ago. Apparently, they are only willing to do one every three years. I explained my concerns and made it very clear that I still wanted it done. The nurse practitioner actually left the room and brought in her supervisor, who gave me a lengthy "explanation" as to why I didn't need one. (This after waiting almost an hour for the appointment, which I was on time for.) I was disgusted. I get that this is a clinic, but medical professionals shouldn't brush aside a patient's concerns like this. In the time they spent lecturing me about why I didn't need a pap smear, they could have just done a fucking pap smear. It is totally reasonable for me to want one as a woman in my thirties. Later that week, I went to UCSF, and they performed one on me with no attitude whatsoever. It came back abnormal, so now I am seeking further treatment. I have been in and out of the Women's Community Clinic for over a decade. Something I am regularly struck by is not only their lack of organization, but their complete lack of regard for patient concerns. Don't get me wrong - most staff members are nice and genuinely want to create the illusion of "community" among women. Their actual care, however, is inadequate. They spend more time trying to "erase the stigma" of health issues, rather than actually attempting to treat the problem. I regret the money I have given them. I won't be visiting this clinic ever again.

Each and everyone of them were professional, smart, empathetic, kind and caring. I felt like I was in the best possible hands. The Drs and Surgeons on my care team were also excellent. Everyone I encountered from the top Drs/nurses to the food delivery folks and housekeeping staff were so kind and lovely. The only negative is the toilet paper is awful! I had GI surgery and then had a C Diph infection which caused me to run to the bathroom every fifteen minutes - thank god I brought my own toilet paper! There were a few minor tech issues but it wasn't a big deal to me. My bed malfunctioned at one point (nurses brought a new one and wheeled the broken one out). My call button malfunctioned one day - kept buzzing even though I didn't push it. On my second visit I would push to call for a nurse and they couldn't hear me. And lastly the power button didn't work on the tv - i had to get up and manually turn it off. Oh, and the clock in the room didn't work. I didn't mind any of this - in fact I found it sort of humorous. What makes this such a great place truly is the nursing staff: AMAZING!!!

The facility has a lab attached to it so it's very convenient! Not only am I able to do my annual wellness there, but I can complete my bloodwork in the same appointment too. This office does have very strict scheduling guidelines though; you need to give them a deposit of $300 before you come for your first appointment and there's a $100 no show fee from then on out. Still, I think this office is worth the hassle. It's so hard to find a great doctor and office staff who prioritize patient needs. I'm very pleased with my experience and will continue coming back!

I would just like to say thank you to his medical assistant Jazmyn, she made me feel such at ease! She was so friendly and upbeat, she also was very informative about the process of the appointment. Every appointment I had throughout my pregnancy she was so thorough and you can just tell she cared! Same goes for Dr. Rittenhouse! I felt very at ease being under his care. I like how he was very straightforward and direct. He would address any concerns and always explained everything thoroughly. I had a c section and it went so smoothly and quick!Dr.Rittenhouse kept assuring me throughout the process. Post partum I needed to take blood thinners and I was having some issues with my insurance covering them so I explained that to Dr. Rittenhouse. He didn't hesitate and right away he was able to help me resolve the issue and also explained & gave me tips for at home care via text. My point is, in the past I've had such impersonal experiences with doctors and that was NOT the case with Dr. Rittenhouse. I wish he could be my primary doctor as well! Lol. If you're over 20 you'll feel like an old hag coming here, as the health center mostly caters to teenagers, but I like knowing that this kind of service is available for them. She takes the time the answer my questions and I feel very comfortable asking her anything. Like any specialist doctor visit, it takes time, but when Dr.Hu comes in, you are the main focus.
