I called in the afternoon and was able to get in for 3pm. Even better, my son's (6yr) haircut came out so good, I do not need to spend time looking for my new spot after moving here from the city. Location hours are 10-6 on Tuesday. I scheduled appointment for 4:30pm and shop is closed. I waited for 30 minutes and saw 2 people show up and drive a way. Don't recommend this place. They have no respect for people's time. read more

Brought my 8 year old in this morning for his first barber shop haircut, as my home haircuts were just not cool anymore. :-) He was taken in right away and the owner did a fantastic job listening to what I wanted, dealing with me showing him a Pinterest photo, and then executing a fantastic cut for him. After my four year old saw the haircut later in the afternoon, we went back because he wanted a haircut too. We saw the same barber and he did well with trying to make him comfortable and not scared. They had a racecar seat for him to sit in, put cartoons on, and offered him a lollipop to help ease his jitters. My son quickly calmed down and let him cut his hair with no issues. He loves his big boy haircut. Both of my boys were very satisfied; which makes one happy mom. read more

Alpha's is the best true barbershop I have been to in years. Eric gives a great haircut every time I sit in the chair and the conversation is always easy. I've seen lots of kids here and it's a truly family friendly establishment. Finally it is veteran owned which is important to me. read more

This is a bittersweet review. Alpha's is a good group of guys that give nice men's haircuts. The shop has a wonderful vibe to it, like the old style shops that guys could pop in for a trim, shoot the breeze, play some table games, or just watch the news and crack jokes with the rest of the guys. Unfortunately. They just can't seem to reliably get their doors open. There have been at least 4 times in the last few months (over half the time) where I've either gone in to get my hair cut or my wife has taken our kids in and the doors are locked up, no sign, no indication they are closed or if they will open. My final straw was this morning, where I arrived shortly before they are supposed to open on Saturday (my understanding is Saturday is the busiest day of the week for any barber shop). I waited a bit, more people showed up. 9am came and went. It was "Old Home Day" in town, so there was a lot of foot traffic, but the roads weren't closed and every other Main St business was open and enjoying lots of foot traffic. Alpha's wasn't any different. By 9:15 there were a dozen people waiting for them to open, and at least another half dozen or so walked by, saw the line, but said "Guess we'll try later". Unfortunately, later never came. By 20 past, I decided to call it quits as I had things I'd rather be doing on a Saturday then waiting to see if the barbershop may or may not ever open. Customer service is a very important aspect to all businesses but probably more so for a business like this. If you can't maintain regular business hours or be bothered to make an effort to let you customers know you're closed for whatever reason you it's extraordinarily disrespectful of their time. Alpha's may be squeaking by thinking they are really the only shop in town, but the amount of inconvenience caused by these drastically inconsistent and half*ssed business hours is unfortunately going to bring us to look into other alternatives. So best of luck to you guys, and I hope you'll take the numerous complaints of your inconsistent hours to heart, stop making excuses, and try to do better. read more

I went for my second haircut and got the old buzz cut, just as the other guy said tell them what they want but you'll get the old buzz cut cannot see them staying in business for long if that's the way they do business!! Did not seem to care if the hair he was cutting went down my neck all over my shirt and did not take the time to brush it off. Does anybody care about good service or are there enough suckers out there to keep these guys in business. read more

They only offer one style of haircuts and if you don't want that, then don't waste your time. I asked several times for him to not buzz the sides and he claimed it would look better shorter; they don't care what you ask for. Never going back again. read more

Once again, went during "regular business hours" to find the shop closed, despite the signs and "open" flag out front. Door locked and person inside ignoring the two customers outside. Great cuts, great atmosphere but missing the mark on service...I will come again as its closest to home but very frustrating. Awesome atmosphere and great haircut. Reasonable prices, 16 bucks isn't bad for a great cut. They know what they're doing, never disappointed. I plan to continue to visit as often as needed and would recommend them to any man who wants that old school barber, like you grew up with. The straight razor shave is a nice touch. read more

VERY disappointed when I brought my toddler in for a haircut. I explained that he had a side part and usually got it shorter on the sides and a little longer on the top. I mentioned that he is fine with clippers (as some little ones are not), but what the barber ended up doing was basically akin to a high and tight military haircut. As soon as I saw the first swipe with the clippers, I was shocked and upset that he had done something so drastic without consulting me or clarifying my request. At that point what could I do? 75% of my son's hair was gone in a matter of seconds. To make the whole experience worse, he used product to flip up the front inch of hair he graciously left my son and then in a flash he pulled out a spray can and shot green (washable) hair spray into the front. I assumed people understood that it is courteous to ask a child's parent BEFORE making decisions that affect a child. I expect better judgement from a "professional" who advertises to be a kid-friendly business. Maybe my son will request a haircut like that when he is much older, but this was a completely inappropriate haircut for a small child. read more
