By far the most professional, organized, communicative business I have come across. I am on the loss of words for how tailored and organized this veterinary hospital has been. From the time we were informed our dog needed bone surgery for a break due to an accident. It has been 10 out of 10 with the entire process. There are very few hospitals that provide surgical treatments, especially for the type of break that our chocolate lab had. I have never felt so overwhelmed with the level of professionalism that they provided from scheduling the surgery for the very next morning to the constant text received from them in regards to her progress and vitals and condition. Believe it or not, they even told me whether she had urinated or gone number two so that I can be aware of that when I take her home. The check-in process was amazing, fully disclosing every option that I had, including the low and high of what the surgery might cost and involve including treatments and outpatient options. Upon checking her out, we received a tailored booklet for our dog and the treatment that we should provide along with the follow up visits at the intervals with dates already pre-determined at two weeks/4 weeks/8 weeks. They had prepared her pain, medicine and antibiotics with labels along with supplements that we opted for her to have. I can't say enough, except for feeling so grateful and overwhelmed as to the level of treatment they had for our dog as they practically treated her better than a regular hospital patient four regular humans like us! While they are one of the few hospitals in the state that can perform these types of surgeries, I never felt like they were monopolizing or capitalizing on this special opportunity. If you are looking for an animal hospital or animal surgery center that is going to take care of your animal or pet with the upmost respect, love and care that you can trust blindly I would absolutely recommend this location as you will most likely have the same experience that I just went through. i cant believe the staff there treats their customers the way they do and are able to sleep at night. theyre fake phony and liars. they say all sorts of bull on their website not one word of its true. they dont care nor do they show compassion. its all about money and i get that theyre a buisness and they need to make money but theyre flat out raping ppl. and in my situation i was lied to and told that it was policy and after reading post from other customers thats proof that theyre are flat out liars. they told us after her parvo test came back neg. that b4 they could go any further with tests i needed to put down half of 545. then it turned into 400 out of 545. so my husband went home to get his tools so we could take them to the pawn shop. but we have other animals at home and he had forgotten to give me the 100 we had for that days visit and one of our goats had gotten out so he wasnt able to get right back. while i waited with my poor baby they didnt offer to help me with anything oh wait they said they had went through the meds that were donated but they didnt have anything for a dog as sml as her. ( arent they vets its basic math to figure out how much to give her right?) and they told me she was dehydrated why not offer me a way to try to get her to drink? nope they would just come back after whispering about us in the hall about us  to see if my husband made it back to pay them. they werent going to do anything to help her. or even start without the deposit. so i was stuck there for hours i couldnt think about anything except how she was suffering. i managed to get up another 100 while i was sitting there. i figured that would pay for that days visit and maybe just maybe theyd have the heart to start. but that was just wishful thinking. i honestly believe that if my husband didnt show up when he did. they were getting ready to take the money i had and kick me out with my dog. but he came back and after theyre little meeting they came out with this great plan for us and that would cost 200 inuding the visit that day. theyre plan was to give her something for the dehydration and some meals and 1 med and see if she gets better and once we could cone up with more money we could go back. mind u that when my husband got back he broke down he walked in the room and said our poor baby was already drooling. and they were going to send her home with us. i couldnt believe it send her home to continue to suffer. and all we wanted was for them to start on her and let me run to pull out  a loan or something to get up the money we needed. like i said all i could think was how much she was suffering.my husband had the car full of his tools we were going pawn as well. we were ready to do anything to get her better. but they werent going to do anything without their money. they sat outside the door whispering about us. my poor baby she was all of 2 and a half pounds. i dont know why they treated us this way. my husband and i both work and were literally ready to pay whatever it was going to cost for her to get better. i dont understand why they couldnt just take the payment for that day and start doing the rest of whatever needed to be done while my husband and i ran to the pawn shop and a loan place really quick. that was to much to ask they acted as though we were just gonna skip out on the bill and leave her there. are u serious?? so we had no other choice but to have her put down. this little girl was our world she was our furry child...my poor little innocent baby. i feel like they killed her. so tell me how anything that they say on their bullshit ass website is true. its not. this is whats true. on march 9th they killed my babygirl.   if i could give a neg rating i would read more

the people at this veterinarian hospital were nice however, they could not estimate our bill properly and were told several times a different price. I had to return to this hospital three times in one day to be told different bill amounts each time. third time in, they had the bill back to the price we were told the very first part of the day. we had just had our family pet put to sleep which is hard enough. then to have to continually return with more money three different times. i think they just wanted to add on unnecessary fees until I complained and got the bill back to the original estimated price from the beginning. it's math people. use a calculator or go back to school. we will no longer be coming to this vet. read more

Our 13 year old dog had to be euthanized this summer due to cancer. Needless to say it took us a little while to find a new family member. 3 weeks ago we did and she's is our tiny fur ball of joy. Unfortunately, Alpine won't give us their "puppy package". We missed their 10 week deadline by two weeks. Were flabbergasted and very disappointed with Alpine. Never mind that's she is still a puppy and will be getting the same things she would with their "puppy package". Never mind we've been a loyal customer for the last 15 years and our puppy now is our 4th dog we've taken to Alpine. Last but not least, never mind our last dog was euthanized at Alpine this summer. Then they have fill out paper ( normal) and you have to leave pet with them. I asked how much stiches on my dog. You to wait for the doctor examine him and they will call you before any work done. Its what they dont tell you. Im old on a fixed income and cant give give 25% of my income and still live. Beside I had a dog 2 years ago that needed stiches and they charged $85.00 Now I know about inflation. and expected it could be double $$$ but not 5 times. They wanted $486.00 for procedure. Well I told them I just can afford that and I would come get my pet. When I showed up the said I owed a doctors exam office call of $75.00 Which any one looking the dog can see he needs stiches. What that took doctor about 5 seconds. When I ask how as estimate for this procedure and put it there before you commit. They do that way they use the love you have for your pet to make profit. I warn anyone why go here when you can go to ant vet hospital get all the same thing including loving the animals as most people do for 3 times less. BTW I took my dog to another vet the stitched him up including putting out and drugs for him for a total of $169 vs their $486. She was told to feed him Caro syrup. As a result he was hospitalized for several days. I came home to a 1200 dollar bill and a dog that was blind and so frail I had to put him down within the month. In contrast to some of the other reviews, we were very pleased with both the service and the cost of Alpine's services. The vet was caring and gentle with our hunting dog and gave a clear explanation of the problem and possible solutions. We were not pushed toward any purchases and, in fact, they noted that we would not need some of the medications because of our location during tick and flea season. They gave us information on a possible leg brace but the decision to order it was ours; they were not involved. Make sure to ask prices when they tell you how they wanna treat your animal. My cat came in with bites and I told them where the bad one was located and they completely missed it so it's still swollen. But the antibiotics are hopefully helping him at the moment and I'm treating the actual wound myself. During the physical, they called me and let me know he had a fever that indicated infection (duh, he has bites from the stray cat that always lead to abscesses, I just got to the vet before they got that bad) and they wanted to do a blood test "To see what's going on" (HE HAS AN INFECTION FROM A BITE DUH) but didn't bother telling me it was gonna be $170 freaking dollars! I had called the day before to ask if I could just come pick up some antibiotics because he gets bit aaaallll the time so I know the drill, and they told me he HAS to have an appointment in order to get them. (Which is fine, I understand.) But they turned it into a $300 bill that I had to pay that I was NOT anticipating AT ALL. I am a broke college student and when they called to get my payment over the phone, I was bawling by the time they brought my cat out to me because I couldn't just NOT pay the bill. They missed the wound, didn't bother to tell me the cost of a blood count, and all I wanted was some $37 antibiotics. So now I'm pissed and missing other bills because I make my own money on a part time job and I can't GET any FAFSA. And I had to have surgery yesterday so now I can't work for a few weeks so I'm $300 out anyway and now I won't even receive a paycheck for a month. read more

Been taking all my pets here since 2011 and honestly shocked with how much they've gone downhill in the past year. It all started with my dogs routine vaccination appointment. They said he needed dental and he had ONE tooth that really needed pulled, which was understandable. Over the past 9 years I have gotten his teeth cleaned almost every year and they were cleaned in 2019 as well. Each one of these past visits cost anywhere from $200-$300. When I asked for a quote this year I was given the quote of $440-$740, which was much higher than expected but I decided to do it anyway thinking it's only one tooth, he's never had issues in the past but I didn't want him suffering. In the past someone has always called if anyone goes differently or if they need to do anything else, or they just call to let you know your dog did fine and should be ready to go home at whatever time. I never received a call, so I called them and then was told they had to pull 20 teeth and the bill was $916.56. I asked them why didn't anyone call me before pulling 20 teeth? They said they didn't have to and really nothing more. I also asked how prices could have gone up so much and why was he fine last year and now 20 teeth needed removed etc. Their answers were all generic, like reading from a manual. They didn't show any empathy, basically it is what it is, now pay. They wouldn't honor their quote and when I asked if I could talk to someone about setting up a payment plan they said they would have the billing manager Sydney call me. She never called so I called for her the next day, she was out of the office so they said they'd leave a message for her to call me, she still didn't call. So I waited a week this time before calling back a third time, where the exact same thing happened again. So by now I'm a little irritated she hasn't called back so I submit a message through PetDesk, the first message goes un-responded to, so I send another in a couple of days as well as leave a negative review on fb. I finally was emailed back a generic response with a copy of my most recent bill, they completely ignored what I asked for in the email, so I replied again this time ticked off. Finally Sydney called me after the 5th-6th try. She sounded apologetic and was actually pleasant, the first nice person I talked to so far throughout this experience. She made it sound like she understood where I was coming from and totally not a problem to pay the bill in two separate payments. She never once mentioned by doing this I'd also be charged a finance fee. So I pay $600 in July, a few weeks after the appointment because thats how long it took them to call me back. I made a plan with Sydney to pay the remaining $316.56 August 20th, she said she could set it up to automatically post the payment that day, I said that was fine. To be honest I just wanted this over with and didn't want to try calling them back to make a payment. Well the 20th rolls around and no charge to my card, but I did receive an invoice with the remaining balance + $5 for finance fee for not paying it all in July, which I was never told would happen. I was irritated to see another fee on an already enormous bill and annoyed this fee wasn't mentioned. I called Alpine back and of course Sydney wasn't in and she never called me back. I called again on 8/24 and asked if I could just pay over the phone with that lady because I was tired of waiting for Sydney to call me back again. She said yes she could take the payment. I specifically said I was only authorizing a payment in the amount of $316.56, that I didn't feel the $5 fee was fair since Sydney never calls back in a timely manner and I wasn't told about it in July. She said that was fine she'd get the fee waived and confirmed with me twice she'd be charging my card $316.56 and would mail me the receipt. Well now it's Thursday the 27th and no receipt, and my card was charged $321.56 without my authorization. At this point I'm exhausted, irritated, and annoyed with how this all went down. The $5 isn't even worth my time and energy anymore, but people need to know that some of the staff at Alpine Animal Hospital have not acted ethically, were dishonest, and unprofessional to say the least. My 4 pets and I have already found a new vet, and after reading other reviews it looks like they've already lost other patients due to similar circumstances. Before I review AAH I want to give you some background on how I approach medical care for my pets then what I look for and appreciate in a vet since my preferences and requirements may be different than your needs. First, I do not have pet insurance and I will not pay for surgery. I love my pets and will do what I can to give them a good life, but the buck has to stop at surgical intervention. I did look into insurance at one time and it was more expensive than my regular vet bills. It was outside my budget. Second, I prefer a vet who understands and accepts my limitations without guilt triping me or give me the sense that I should not have pets if I cannot afford the most expensive foods or treatments for them. I don't buy the most expensive foods or treatments for myself; there is no way I can do so for my pets. Now on to my experience with AAH. I've been taking my pets to them for about 3 years and AAH no longer meets my criteria for veterinarian care. When I first went there it all seemed good. But the last several visits have been been pressure and guilt trips about what I'm feeding my cats. It has gotten to the point that I seriously wonder if AAH is paid a commission by the large pet food companies every time they "beat the drum" recommending the expensive products. They also left me with the strong impression that I was not a good pet owner if I didn't pay for the more expensive pet foods. That is a matter of opinion and not their decision. The vets have also alleged medical issues with my cats but never gave any treatment options or suggestions. After researching the issues myself I came to the conclusion that their alleged medical issues were not really issues, especially based on what I know about the behavior of my cat (I've had it since it was a kitten). The vets also never made and an official diagnosis, unless I wanted to shovel out a lot more money. No, the vets only threw out brash observations that later proved to be false after further research and observation. The most recent issue with my cat was the last straw. I took my cats in for diarrhea, vomiting, and weight loss (which were all very recent). They prescription pills for a bacteria infection without any instructions on how to administer the pills, knowing full well that my one cat is terribly feisty. When I pointed this out on a follow up visit when the feisty cat had actually gotten worse they responded with, "yeah, she is a calico." They also proceeded to tell me my cat had a mass somewhere in her abdomen that they somehow overlooked even though it was a large mass and she was quite thin from the weight loss. They should have caught it the week before, which made me wonder. They immediately recommended surgery which I declined. I asked what other options and they said there was basically nothing and if she continued as she was it was the end. So I took my cat home with the belief that she was going to die. Until I started researching online and treating her myself (I should be a vet!). Cat is much better now...oh, and not dead (thankfully!). Yet I was also slapped with a huge bill. I had previously asked for cost estimated for everything they did, but neglected to that when they recommended an x-ray (which wasn't very helpful). Their services were also extremely slow and unhelpful. I paid for a stool test to see what kind of bacteria was effecting my cat and it wasn't done until almost 2 weeks later when it was essentially a moot point. Bottom line: AAH got a lot of money from me but I got very little in return. They treated me at times like a new cat owner and other times like a seasoned cat owner. It just depended on the moment and their interest in the subject. It was very confusing to sit in the visits because I'd ask questions and would write them off like it was not big deal and I should already know the answer. But then when AAH wanted to talk about the food I was giving them they talked down to me like I was an idiot. It was weird and confusing. AAH appears to be surgery happy. Understandably, surgery is probably more exciting for them than providing other non-invasive care. They also probably need to make overhead and pay for that fancy building they are in. But as mentioned surgery is not an option for me. If you want a provider that can do surgery then this may be an option for you. It seems like AAH is a better choice for people who are passing through town rather than people who have pets and live in the area. Based on other reviews it sounds like the people not from this area had better experiences, probably because AAH didn't try their usual pressure tactics since the patient was clearly a 1-off visit. As noted at the beginning, I am giving this review based on my personal requirements and limitations on vet care for my pet. If you have pet insurance, feed your pets the top of the line food, and want surgical options this vet may be an option for you (be sure to get a quote). read more

Our Yorkie Bentley got sick while traveling between Missoula MT and Peoria AZ on a Friday night in Pocatello ID. I called Alpine Animal Hospital on Saturday morning to see if we could possibly get an appointment and get him looked at. Dr Hemingway said bring him in and they would work him in the schedule. We showed up at 8 in the morning, and they got him right in, and the service was exceptional! Our little one made it home with no other issues the rest of our trip and is now back to his original self. I have Persian cats and they are the BEST vet ever to my cats. They are so nice, smart and personable as if they were their own pets. Each visit no matter what its for the vet will meet with you and examine the animal. before a spay/neuter they will also check the animal to be sure of the sex. I would give a negative star if I could. I have been a long time client at Alpine, and my family has also used them for all our pets so I was very very upset after my latest experience with them. My cat was ill and due to work had to have my mom take him in, was promised the vet would call me so we could discuss his treatment. Never got a call, I even left a message with the after hour service (because his vet was the one on call that night) and nothing. So the next day mom had to take him back to get re-check and he was sadly put to sleep. Due to corona they do curbside pick up and drop off but allow you inside if your pet is to be put to sleep. However they did not even offer, so my baby was alone and scared when he left this world. I was very upset about this. Then typically they send out cards to say they are sorry for your loss...NOTHING. Then when they called to let me know his ashes were back, the receptionist called him an it, which I felt was insensitive to say the least. Then when I arrived to pick up his ashes, the name plate was wrong, spelling and message, and the additude was just "oh... well oops" and they still have not located the paw print I paid for. When I called to complain again I got the " well we are getting a new name plate, sorry". Needless to say I will not go back to them for anything and I highly suggest if you love your animal take them somewhere else! read more

Murdered my dog, I took him in because other vets where suggesting amputation and they also agreed that was the best course of action. Quoted me 600.. charged me 900. When I took my dog in for surgery on my birthday.... theh murdered him didnt level out his biology to ensure his body could handle the surgery, no they just doctor kevorkian my dog. Then not only did they kill my animal they increased the price of the botched/Failed surgery. I was distraught I couldn't work or function for months after they killed my animal.... then when I went in for his remains they wouldn't release his ashes..... you are a disgrace to humans every where. Took daughter's boyfriend's cat for a visit for antibiotics. Got a call at 4pm from the dr. stating cat came out of surgery and had several teeth removed. Alpine wanted to charge $800 or they would not give cat back. Next day, office manager tried to argue 'assumption' that client knows what they are asking for... Every medical institution with integrity gives FULL DISCLOSURE and gets CONSENT every step of the way for every procedure. The mgr charged us for the visit and told us to take all of our animals elsewhere. We took about 12 animals somewhere else. Not okay to try to take advantage and do more than what was permissible. They are UNETHICAL, UNPROFESSIONAL, and UNCARING. They returned the cat without after-care instructions and medication. When we asked about instructions and medication the dr. and receptionist yelled at us to shut up and leave. Would have given a 0 star rating, but 1 was the lowest it would go. read more
