This is the last place that you should take your pet in the Pullman/Moscow area. Here's Alpine's typical approach to veterinary medicine: 1. Be presented with a sick animal 2. Figure out how guilt the pet's parents into spending as much money as possible on a treatment plan that will not work 3. Be sure that the prescription won't work so that your pet is sick longer and they can get more money out of you 4. When owners question these methods, be as rude as possible and refuse to answer questions. Remember to hang up in the middle of the phone çall so that owners really get the message 5. When the pet has a deadly cancer, make sure to never offer any counsel to the owner and act like they are stupid for not knowing as much about pet cancer as a trained vet Overall, the ethos of this practice is to be rude, condescending, and greedy. These doctors want to prey on loving owners who want the best care for their pets in order to extract maximum value. The worse they make you feel about your pet's health, the more you will rely on them and accept their useless treatments. Avoid this place at all costs. Over charging u when ur in dire need to help your pet feel better. We took r cat in cause he had a cough and they said it might b a tale worm in his lungs .. and they gave us PANACUR C and it's for paracits and tapeworm and other woormns. They gave us two boxes for. $53:94 ,. So on the way home too Moscow we stopped at Walmart to c if they had anything similar like that and they had the exact thing PANACUR C . Two boxes costed me $11 a box. . And Alpine animal hospital also wanted to do a ear swab cause of debre. Not ear mites. Debre and the cost of that would b $44:50. WOW!! And eye drops cause he had goo In his eye. Not a infection or anything just burgers they wanted to charge me $75 foot that. Now if u ask me that is a total scam. I was really upset. And I cried cause I really cannot afford to pay almost 3 times for a medicine that I can get at wall mmart for way way cheeper. Incompetent at best. Misdiagnosis led to further, more severe injury. Repeatedly said they would submit referrals to other providers when treatment was beyond their capabilities- which they never did. Two months of shelling out money to them for no improvement and no path forward, won't even transfer my records to another provider. Cannot keep competent staff. Save yourself and your pet time and money by going elsewhere. read more

Everyone my husband and I have interacted with at Alpine has been really nice and helpful. I've gone here a handful of times for my puppy to get shots, check ups, and for boarding. Our vet was also really knowledgeable in helping us get our puppy acclimated to our new home and she helped us find puppy classes to start socialization early. I have nothing but good things to say and plan to bring any future pets I may get as well! read more

They were able to get my kitty in for a same day appointment, and it was my first time there so I was curious to see how everything would go. I say this primarily because there are some pretty disgruntled reviews on here. To preface this actual visit, speaking with the ladies over the phone... it was amazing. I won't lie, they were the nicest, most understanding and professional people I think I've ever had the pleasure of interacting with over the phone. Even when I was running late, they were not exacerbated or rude, they were still completely courteous. In person, they were professional and welcoming all the way from the ladies at the desk to the vet tech and veterinarian. They were knowledgeable and comforting, and quick to do what was needed (run tests and prescribe appropriate medication). I also want to note that I LOVE how they have pet insurance information everywhere. It is amazing how many people do not even know about pet insurance. I literally know people who have had to take out loans and credit cards due to freak accidents with their animals. Anyway, it was a wonderful experience. I don't love the location but I understand why they are there. I also want to note that this is the second place I called that day, WSU never answered (left a message) and they never called me back... this was a week ago. read more

Dear Readers and The Alpine Animal Hospital, Two times in the same week I have encountered unpleasant receptionists (Trish and Mahea). They need to be reminded by the management on how to provide customer care. Especially Trish; she was downright passive-agressive with me after I asked why was I charged for two X-rays. I found it odd that they charge for 2 pics of X-ray (1st was $90 and the 2nd was $40.) Dr. Corcoran didn't say she did 2 pics and didn't mention that I will be charged $130 for the X-rays alone. I didn't hand my credit card to the receptionist, Trish, and remained where I was until Dr. Corcoran came to the check out counter with a laptop to show me the X-ray images. I have asked for a copy of the images several times now, and still didn't get my copy yet. The staff doesn't seem to know how to provide me with the digital images... (try attaching it my e-mail, share it on via dropbox, or a CD). Dr. Corcoran procrastinated ordering medication for a week ( even though we discussed ordering it the same day) and gave me misleading instructions on the fluids administration schedule (she wrote one set of instructions in the file and verbally gave me a totally different schedule - I caught the discrepancy only because I requested a copy of my pet's records! I called the hospital to find out what actual instructions does doctor want me to follow. Dr. Corcoran said to follow those she wrote in the file and when I inquired, - "Why when I read back what I had in my notes on the day of the drop off exam (and showed her what I wrote as I was reading it) you didn't correct me?" I heard a change of attitude in her voice when she just blamed it on being preoccupied... I think that being a DVM is taking its tall on older generation, but at least focus on the correct instructions you provide your clients to follow with, please. Also, Dr. Corcoran told the receptionist to sell less supplies than she actual procedure required, so now I have to come back to meet the unwelcoming receptionists again to request a missing 1 liter of the Lactated Ringer Solution (aka SQ Fluids). Maybe it is the receptionist, Trish, who didn't bother to look over what did Dr. C. write in the file and then didn't bother to tell me the administering instructions again, or write it down on a label or something. Before I paid, I also asked Trish for a copy of my records; she seemed very annoyed by that. I apologized to which she didn't respond. She removed the staple from the paper work and returned with faint copies, which she placed into an envelope (only later at home I discovered that). Their printer doesn't copy blue pen well. I am going to come back and ask them to scan my file and attach images to my e-mail, or if they have a digital printer they can increase the density, so the blue pen is visible in copies. When Dr. Corcoran came to show me the X-ray images, I handed my credit card to Trish. On Friday, 4/28/17 I sent an e-mail with questions in regards of the summary of the blood work and urinalysis. Dr. Corcoran did talk to me in the hallway about the results, but I need this in writing too to fully understand what am I dealing with. I will wait until Tuesday, 5/2/17 for the response. Hopefully, Dr. Corcoran will answer by then, if not I am determined to switch to Dr. Nichols, who was very good in the past to follow-up through e-mail correspondence. I am a new GSD owner and am so pleased that Alpine offers puppy classes. My pup was nervous the first time and they were so kind and helpful. The class offers great advice and a chance to talk to people who are going through similar situations owning a puppy. I also loved the vet we saw for her first wellness exam. Very patient and helpful with any questions I had. They were also very loving towards my girl. Overall, I would definitely recommend coming here. So far it's been great! read more

I will NEVER recommend this clinic to anyone. I took my dog there for a routine procedure. The next day, my dog fell ill, I called the vet and they said they didn't know what could be wrong but that nothing they did caused it. I ended up taking him to a different vet that day who confirmed for me that he had gotten pneumonia from fluid filling his lungs during his procedure at Alpine. My dog spent two days in the hospital before we had to let him go. Alpine took no responsibility and still claims it wasn't their fault. That is BS! ALPINE KILLED MY DOG!!! read more

I own a 2-year old great dane, Tank, and I'm always a little hesitant taking/leaving him new places due to his large size and the even larger amount of responsibility that goes into taking care of him. I was pleasantly surprised to come back two days later to a very happy pup and staff that were more than happy to take care of him...even somewhat sad to see him go. When you have 3 dogs you always are going to the vet for something! While living in Pullman this is the only place I would take my dogs. They are the friendliest, kindest, most caring vets in the world. They are always willing to squeeze you in same day or first thing the next morning, if you have an emergency they will make room to board you dog for you, they are just all around amazing. They also help adopt out homeless kittens and cats. Wish I could give this place 10 stars! read more

I absolutely love this place! I took my pup here when I found out she had worms and they immediately booked an appointment for her that same day when I called. Everyone there was extremely nice and friendly towards my boyfriend and I, not to mention our pup as well. It was her first time ever going to a veterinary and the vet that checked her was very welcoming, made sure my pup felt comfortable and safe. I recommend this place every time to first time pet owners because my experience here was amazing! I also took my pup here for puppy classes and I saw so much change from when I first got her. Everyone knew my puppy's name when she walked in the door, it was cute. I had just moved to the area a few weeks ago and hadn't yet established a veterinarian for my dog. I am always very picky when it comes to picking a new veterinarian for my dogs, especially for the one I have now as she has fear aggression, which we have and will always continue to work on. Anyways, my dog and my roommates dog got into a scuffle over a toy while no one was home. My dog came out with a bite to her face, bottom canine into her cheek. I called Alpine Animal Hospital because I pass their business on my morning walks along the Bill Chipman Trail. I was able to get an appointment the same day, with no emergency fee (as some other clinics have done in the past). I brought her in and the receptionist knew who we were when we walked in. I mentioned my dog's behavioral issues and the receptionist did a great job of informing all of her co-workers of issue. Each of the receptionist and techs made it a point to say hi to my dog and properly introduced themselves to a nervous dog. (I was impressed!) New-client paperwork was easy. Was brought into the exam room promptly. The technician was as nice as can be and took her time asking questions, etc. Dr. Cook came in immediately after and approached my dog properly. She is extremely scared of tall men, but with Dr. Cook, she was licking and laying down within a matter of seconds. They took her to the back to check out her bite wound. Luckily, it was superficial. Dr. Cook even answered my question on behavioral advice. They also took care of my VPI paperwork and submitted the claim for me! I am so happy I found a new veterinarian for my dog. I can't praise this establishment enough. I did not get all the names of the techs and receptionists, but I just want to say 'Thank you' for being so understanding and helpful! It really took the stress out of normally what would have been a stressful situation. read more

I took my cat here for both check ups and boarding. Each experience was a pleasure and you could tell the employees really care about each animal that comes through their doors. My cat underwent a surgery to remove a polyp from her ear and the staff was very accommodating to provide me with a detailed list of approximate costs for each step of the procedure and explaining exactly what would be happening to my cat during the surgery. I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone who wants their animal to receive the best care. (I used this clinic for a little over a year until I moved from the area) read more

I have not used their vet services yet, so I cannot comment on that. While the veterinarians and vet techs are all kind and helpful, the rest of the staff is abysmal. My cat has a condition that makes it necessary for him to take medication twice a day. Too long without this medication will put him in the hospital. When getting his meds refilled, numerous times the staff either forgot to send the referral or made some ridiculous excuse about it getting lost. He has gone weeks without his medication because of their incapability to do a simple task. Even the pharmacists at Sids in Pullman said it was a regular occurrence. Alpine also charges huge fees for their services and will not allow a payment plan. Of any kind. I've noticed people in the area find this to be normal but of every single vet I've ever gone to in the country, I've always been able to make payments on a pricey operation. Do not take your pet here unless your pet is 100% healthy and only comes in for their vaccines. Even then, their general exam fee is absurd. Just go to Moscow. It's worth it. read more

I'd like to make a first time vet appointment for a wellness check and blood draw for my cat." Receptionist, "Okay, is this your first time here?" Me, "Yes. I just said that." Receptionist, "Okay, what kind of dog do you have?" Me, "It's a cat..." Receptionist, "Oh.. Okay. Let me see what availability we have." Fumbles around for several moments while mumbling, "um... I had the misfortune of dealing with this place several times. The first time I dealt with them, our cat died overnight, and we brought him in to the clinic early that morning. After handing him over to them, the absolutely CLUELESS receptionist cheerily said, "SO, how's your day been going so far?" Uh, you mean other than the fact that my cat died on our bed last night? Oh, just peachy. Thanks for asking. Idiot. This clinic is close to my house, so I decided to give them a try with a grooming for my Chow/Lab mix. She looked much more like a Chow than a Lab, with very thick fur. It was the summer time, so I asked them to trim her down to a manageable length, so she'd be a little cooler. A couple of hours later I went into this place to pick up my dog, and she was SHAVED DOWN TO THE SKIN. They told me I had to put SUNSCREEN on her skin to keep her from burning if she went outside. SHE'S A CHOW. My girlfriend and I were VERY taken aback, since we had asked for a GROOM and not a SHEAR. I asked them, "Is this how you groom all of your dogs?" They just sort of shrugged and charged me for the grooming (don't remember how much -- but it was too much for what they had done, which was sheared her). So, a few months later, I took her in again for another light grooming, thinking that I hadn't been clear with them the first time I took her in. I stood at the counter for 10 minutes and talked to the receptionist, and told her what I had received last time in terms of a "grooming," and that I absolutely did not want that to happen again. She said, "Oh, we won't do that again, but we do have a uniform length we shave all dogs." I said, "What does that mean? I get a one-size-fits-all groom?" She said, "Well, we groom different dogs different ways." I said, "Well, why don't you just groom her the way I want her to be groomed?" She said, "We have standardized procedures." Standardized procedures. So, I said, "Ok, according to your 'standardized procedures,' how closely will you clip her fur?" The receptionist held her fingers about an inch apart." I said, "Oh, ok. Perfect. See you in two hours." Two hours later, I arrive at ALPINE ANIMAL HOSPITAL to a dog that has, once again, been shaved down to her skin in DIRECT defiance of my VERY SPECIFIC orders. To say that I was apoplectic is putting it mildly. I argued my case. They made excuses. I argued some more. They made more excuses. That was when I learned that they basically drag the dogs down to a barn down the hill and shear them. That was when I also learned that they really just don't give a damn what you think about their "services." I went home and called them and made my case some more. They flatly REFUSED to let me speak to the owner, even though I asked several times. They're so arrogant, they just pawned me off to the business manager, who practically answered the phone, "You're not getting your money back." So, I regaled them with the fact that, not only am I a university professor who teaches sales and marketing, and who also talks to hundreds of students per year, but that I am also a touring public speaker on the topic of CUSTOMER SERVICE and SERVICE FAILURES, and that I would henceforth be incorporating this story into my diatribe -- and, that I would name them in the story. The business manager's response? "You're not getting your money back." I summarily informed her that I was pulling my dog completely out of their care. She would no longer be going there for treatment of any kind (three months later she contracted cancer, which would have been a windfall for this place). The business manager's response? "You're not getting your money back." Peachy. Don't want it back. Just want everyone who thinks about going to this LITERAL clip joint, to go to some other vet clinic. I'd like to see Alpine Animal Hospital disappear. I now drive all of my animals three times the distance (and I have to drive by their place to get to it). I just smile as I go by, happily taking my money with me. read more

I've taken my pets to Alpine for years, but I was particularly impressed with the efficiency of their transition to curbside service! The tech came out to the car reasonably quickly after I called in, they took my dog into the hospital for Dr. Ronngren to look at him, and she called me quickly to let me know her assessment. I love Alpine. I have been taking pets to them since 1979. I currently have a 15 year old cat who has severe dental issues and kidney disease. They have always treated her very gently and provided information about the best approach to her problems. She is also a very picky eater. Yesterday I received bad news about her condition, but they are giving me all the options to improve the quality of life she has left. I have never had a reason to even consider another vet. If you think the prices are excessive, just look at what the vet school charges! read more

I have spent a lot of time at Alpine (sick cat) and the staff is always courteous, the vet techs do a good job, and the vets (Dr Engle in particular) are top-notch. Even when I'm not bringing my cats in for checkups or chronic issues, I'm in the office a couple times a month to get special cat food. They take the time to answer all my questions and are very gentle with my 3 dogs. No differences between how they treat my Golden Retriever vs my German Shepherd. About a week ago I emailed Alpine to complain. Exactly six days later I got an answer. They claimed that I misunderstood just about everything that the counter person had told me. There was never a dog in labor. The two updates I got as to litter size did not happen (Was bragging about a huge litter). I did not hear the clerk tell me "The doctor is going to take a break". I find this all very puzzling. I really DON'T want to claim that this response to me was not truthful, so I will close with this: I've been using this vet for years, and this was not my first long wait. But any wait with my anxious dogs can seems long. Dogs hate this place! They are VERY expensive. Every bill I've paid here has been a "holy s***" moment. I used this vet because my wife liked them. There are alternatives like Colton, Lewiston, and Clarkston. Shopping around makes sense. However, the care my animals have received here has been good. I've never had a problem with this care. People at counter have been pleasant and professional. The facilities appear to be clean and modern. I don't think I will be returning. read more

I utilized them for both my vet care and boarding for a long weekend. Usually I board at another place, but he was due for shots and time was running short before I was scheduled to leave. I was really impressed with the care I received and how they welcomed my very large, very excitable dog. The vet recommended a new ear drop for my infection prone pup, and it has worked wonders compared to the medicine I used before. We have been taking our pets to Alpine for many years. Currently our 14 year old yellow lab, Mortimer, has bi-weekly laser treatments for joint pain. Mort gets excited when we arrrive at Alpine and hurrys, for him, up the ramped entrance. The receptionists greet Mort by name, pet him before the treatments, and give him treats. The assistants who give the actual treatments take a loving interest in him and how he is doing. The are very gentle with him during the half hour it takes to complete four different joints. Mort's only complaint is that he has to wear the 1920s style barnstormer pilot glasses for protection. read more

Decided to try them out after having a horrific experience with WSU teaching hospital. Best decision I have ever made to be completely honest. They were quick to schedule, giving me the same day, they were WAY cheaper but the same if not better quality of help. Even though they weren't a "famous teaching hospital" they went out of their way to explain to me and my partner all of the health issues and complications of getting our puppy fixed later in life. Amazing experience, amazing people and they made us feel very comfortable. Love this place, taking all my animals here from now on. read more
