I commissioned Alpine Environmental to remove asbestos tiles and an exhaust fan likely containing asbestos from our kitchen. The initial consultation was quick, communication was solid, and while they were more expensive than alternatives, I felt like I got a reasonable price for the work and liked their relationship with schools and other high-stakes environments. While the work they did was good in terms of abatement, they forgot to take out the fan, which was scoped in our quote and explicitly called out during the final inspection. The team onsite, clearly, had no idea that it was supposed to be included. I reached out to complain about this, since I had already partially paid for it. They said they would 'coordinate with my inspector' and schedule ASAP to remove the fan. A few days later, they called me just before 9 AM to let me know they were sitting outside the house, ready to remove the fan. No forewarning, no confirmation that that day worked for me, nothing. I was able to move things around to accommodate it, but I then found out they weren't planning on having the third-party inspector come back onsite to verify the environment was actually safe and that the work was executed properly. I called the company I had hired for the air clearance originally, let them know Alpine was there and doing the work, and they immediately accommodated an afternoon appointment to check everything out. Overall, I just felt like communication on the entire project, once I actually committed to working with them, was piss poor. I was willing to accept that mistakes happen after the fan was initially forgotten, but the sloppiness of the second time around just sealed in that they aren't as professional as the good reviews might indicate. read more

I've worked with Alpine twice. Both projects were for lead abatement. In both instances Alpine did a fantastic job. Everyone I interacted with was professional, helpful, and kind. It was also easy to get ahold of someone if I had a question. Additionally, in both cases the final bill was equal to the estimate provided by Alpine. In this regard, it was wonderful to work with a company that stayed on budget. I would happily use Alpine again! read more

Alpine is top notch. After extensive research we identified Alpine to handle a lead dust issue that was caused by a neighbor's renovation project. We discovered Alpine via the PBS series THIS OLD HOUSE. The residential lead, Jason Roy, assessed the situation immediately and send an in detail proposal. His follow up with second to nome. We met with 3+ other companies and none compared to the level of detail and care Alpine provided. Unfortunately, due to timing, we decided to not hire Alpine for the project as we needed to return to our home before they could complete it. However, if I find myself in a similar situation I will without hesitation hire Alpine. read more

We contracted Alpine Environmental to de-lead one of our apartments. The process of working with them was ok (communication was acceptable, not amazing), but they ended up doing substantial damage the floors of the apartment as collateral damage for whatever else they were doing (the floors were not part of the scope of work and did not need to be treated themselves). They have refused to take responsibility for the damage, and they claim that their contract allows them to do this kind of damage with impunity. I wish I had known they would leave a trail of destruction before I signed the contract. What a headache. read more

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. We hired this company to remove paint from our clapboard siding and trim before having a painting company repaint our house. If you want a company that respects your property DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. On day one I overheard the field manager tell his crew "I don't care, throw it in the bushes." Also, other companies we've used for exterior work have provided a porta-potty, so the crew wouldn't need access to our house when we weren't home. When we noticed this wasn't included in the contract, we inquired with the company and we were told the crew would go offsite to use the restroom. We later discovered the crew had been entering our house to use the restroom (and who knows what else - like dig through our belongings). If you want a company that meets the guaranteed deadline outlined in the contract DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. Our project was supposed to take two weeks. It ended up taking over 12 weeks. We were strung along and given 8 different completion dates throughout the project. If you want an abatement company that follows the Lead Safe Renovation Law DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. They did not follow the procedures outlined in the law (e.g tarp placement, tarp containment at the end of each work day, etc) and as a result they contaminated our yard AND inside our house. Weirdly, considering they are an abatement company, after the work started and I questioned why sanders fitted to HEPA vacuums weren't being used, I was told they don't own any sanders that hook up to HEPA vacuums. They hand sanded the trim, and used a power sander without hookup to a HEPA vacuum to finish-sand the clapboard siding (neither measure contained the dust). The worst part, one of the employees actually said to me "we both know Massachusetts doesn't enforce the law." This company knows that, so they will cut every corner possible. If you want a company that performs the work outlined in the contract DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. I had to fight tooth and nail to get the work completed as agreed to in the contract. Hence the project being dragged out for more than 2 months longer than it was supposed to take. If you want a company that provides a great product in the end DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. They gouged our window casings, left areas un-sanded, and they ruined our siding, leaving sanding swirl marks and gouges all over the siding, which was supposed to be sanded smooth. i'm not even a paying customer and alpine has impacted my home life. an alpine construction van has been taking up residential parking spots with no permit OVERNIGHT in lowell for over a month. we have left notes on the vehicle and they continue to obstruct clearly marked residential spots and cause blockages in the neighborhood. they also park poorly and cause potential danger to other vehicles. on top of the already incredibly poor reviews, let this engrigious lack of consideration deter you from choosing this company. there are countless better ones in the chelmsford area alone. read more

I don't like writing negative reviews. I'm a pretty positive person. I'm really disappointed. I was looking to hire a company to remove insulation. I accepted the proposal from these guys because they offered the most affordable quote. I should have known I'd be getting what I paid for. They didn't show up the day work was to begin, and when I called to ask what was up, they told me I had the date wrong. When I went back through emails to make sure I wasn't crazy, it was actually THEY who got the date wrong, and when I showed proof, they never really offered to take responsibility for the mistake. I figured we all make mistakes, so I rescheduled with them. However, it was getting late into the summer and as our new date approached, they canceled saying it was too hot and dangerous for their guys. Sure, I get that. But then as the summer season wound down, and I realized I wasn't going to be able to re-insulate before the heating season would begin, I asked to cancel the job. In short, it took basically two months to get positive confirmation, a check returned in the mail, and then a response as to why the check was $200 short of my initial deposit. I had to chase them at. every. step. I am exhausted and exasperated. It should not have to be this hard. And, it turns out there is a $200 "admin" fee you don't get back -- but they won't tell you this up front, or answer your requests for information -- until you chase them down and demand information. I hope for this company's sake they do better with other customers -- I'm not sure how they'd get by with this kind of service. read more

He was very professional and clearly knew his stuff. I was happy with the quote and the time frame needed to complete the project (one day). The workers came on time as scheduled and were also extremely professional, thorough and caring with my property. They recapped their work at the end of the day and walked me through exactly what they had done. I hired Alpine Environmental because I had lead-positive bathroom tile. Rather than have a general contractor demolish the bathroom, I hired Alpine Environmental to do it because I was concerned about lead dust from the tile. After Alpine Environmental did the demolition and clean up in a negative-pressure environment, I had an independent lead tester (the one I used when I bough the house). The dust samples all came back clean and now my house is on its way to being officially deleaded according to Massachusetts. Especially if you have kids, hiring a certified deleader like Alpine Environmental is the way to go and they did a great job for me. read more
