I thought it was just our unit but then my neighbor who lives 3 doors down from us said she can smell the weed regularly too, not sure how that is possible? Unless the ventilation is really that horrible. Our particular unit was old and dirty (mold in the cabinets, layers of dust on top of surfaces, black soot/grime on the walls, water stains on the ceiling) but I can't speak to the quality of the other units. We also have extremely low water pressure and not enough hot water for two people to shower back to back but again, that might be something unique to our unit. I can say that the complex frequently shuts the water off (about 1x week) for maintenance or "emergency maintenance." Usually they give a notice but sometimes they don't. I've been in the middle of a shower and up at 5am getting ready for work when the water has turned off randomly. The laundry unit on site is always broken. The first washer's spin cycle doesn't work. The second washer doesn't have cold water, even if you put it on cold. On one occasion, I had to pay $20 total just to do 3 loads of laundry because the machines are all broken/don't operate well. Everything about this complex is old and not kept up well. We have had packages stolen from our front porch or ripped open and thrown in the nearby bushes. There are parking lot break-ins regularly, even though the lot is gated. When we moved in, our neighbors told us "You haven't been a true resident of these condos until you've had your car broken into." Relatives & friends have had trouble getting mail delivered to our unit even though the address is correct. So I don't know what's wrong with the mail delivery service to these units. The main gate to the complex is often broken so it is either left wide open for anyone to enter or it's locked close and you can't get out. Up until recently, there were homeless tents in the park just outside our patios. So close you could have a conversation with the individual. It does not feel safe to live here at all. There is also a registered sex offender residing in one of the units, so make sure that info is disclosed to you before you rent/buy here. The best part is its proximity to the hike and bike trail but there are a number of other apartments you could live in that are more well kept and safe if you want to be close to the trail. It's not in a good part of town so don't expect to feel safe, especially as a woman. People hype this spot up way more than what it's actually worth. Don't fall for it. It's been a terrible place to live. Posting this here in hopes someone could benefit from our experience & be saved the hassle.

The office staff, while friendly and communicative, are controlled by an incompetent management corporation who don't leave them much room to action much-needed tasks. It seems they spend more time making social media posts than actually caring about issues at hand. I've been waiting two weeks now for the return of my security deposit and am now living nomadically so I gratefully accepted an option for direct deposit. After numerous emails and phone calls, I'm being told I 'missed my window' for direct deposit when a link from their management company to set it up was NEVER EVEN SENT. Security is a huge issue. They spent thousands on a robust security camera system to monitor the grounds but it's actually proven to be useless. I had two cars of mine damaged IN the gated parking lot while living there. One was done by a guest of a resident and the camera couldn't pick up the license plate after my car was barreled into. The second time, my car was vandalized and the office did nothing to help me follow-up with a police report to report to my insurance carrier. The gates are easy to jump over and there is often homeless just wandering the parking lots and picking through the garbage compactor. They did away with a rent-a-cop security vehicle to boot. Of course their policy is 'we're not liable for damages' - not at all a secure feeling of 'home' whatsoever. The same issues persist with actual resident management. The pool is overrun by resident guests and there's no enforcement of limiting the amount of guests - often times there's no where to even sit on the weekends because of all the 'friends' residents are providing the gate code to enter the grounds. Some residents were respectful but the good majority of them have zero care for others who live at the complex. They litter, leave animal waste everywhere, speed through the parking lots and invite tons of friends to park + stay in the complex with again, no enforcement of polices whatsoever. If you live on the side of the complex facing the train tracks - expect to hear train noise every day and often times trains idle for days with their engines running. A total nightmare if you work from home. -- With all of the continual competition in Austin, including new buildings opening up directly across the street from Trailhead, I really do hope they get their act together because the experience is not at all worth the price tag.

Many of the things said in my original review still stand, but if you have any input to management they simply tell you they cannot do anything about it and to contact their corporate office. I've been here almost 8 years now, and perhaps it's just the fact that my apartment hasn't been updated in a while, but to put it in the words of my ex "this apartment is made of paper". Our upstairs neighbors dumped food over their balcony causing PILES of ants outside that eventually ended up in our kitchen, bedrooms and living room. We find endless amounts of bugs all over our apartment every day, and no one contacts us back to get an exterminator to spray our apartment. Every-time we go to the leasing office to speak with someone, no one is in there! Absolutely ridiculous. Save your time and effort and don't even look into this place.
