I went to Altered Art today and it was a horrible experience. I arrived at 12:45 to put my name on the list and wasted my entire day waiting in the parking lot. The list states that piercings start at 1:30 so I came back at 1:20 and when I looked my name was crossed off. I asked and was rudely approached and dismissed, I was told I could join the list again and be next in line and still waited another 30 minutes. I decided to leave after wasting 2 hours waiting and will never return after I was treated so poorly. 100% DO NOT recommend. read more

This place is clean and professional, I had two great experiences here! At 43, I got my nipples pierced and loved them! Sadly almost two years later they closed up after removing them for surgery :-( Just got them redone tonight and Sharon did a great job! Long story short - I drove two hours and got my first tattoo from Rich a couple weeks ago. I can't say enough what a killer experience this was. Great soundtrack, expert advice, excessively clean, and each artist had an AMAZING portfolio. I think the most telling point was the number of people who saw the tattoo afterward and told me that it was a difficult piece (lots of solid black) and that it would most likely need to be touched up. Now that I am fully healed I can safely say it was a perfect job. I already know my what my next two tattoos will be and can't imagine going anywhere else. read more

So many people seem to have had such a great experience here but I've been here twice (without getting the tattoo I wanted) and was treated like I just waltzed into someone's private home unannounced. The employees in the lobby looked at each other in horror as I walked in. They end up telling me they're booked twice and I can't even make an appointment. Wtf? Rich did my tattoo of two very realistic looking sparrows and I love the shading and use of color. I can say he's done a lot of work on many of my friends and he specializes in really great bright colors, beautiful flowers, great script work, and does gorgeous pin-ups. His placement is always on point. The shop is a laid back environment, no hipster pretension but lots of good metal. Sharon is amazing!! I went about a month ago and got my septum repierced. I've had it done twice before at different shops and wanted to get it for a third (and final) time. I was in Vineland and drove by this shop so I figured I'd give it a try. Sharon, the piercer, made me feel very welcome and comfortable! When she did my piercing, I felt absolutely NOTHING. The only reason I knew she put the needle through is because I saw it come out the other side! The shop is very clean and has a relaxing atmosphere. I've been there a couple of times to get piercings and never had an issue with Sharon but then when I made an appointment to get a tattoo she had put me in with Kevin and the day my appointment was I go there and he said that I didn't have an appointment with him so they never made me the appointment. So then Kevin had ask me what was I trying to get and I wanted the one on my back covered well he looked at it shook his head and grab another employee and he to shook his head then there came good old Bryce so I finally made an appointment with him and the first appointment I went in and there was nobody around so I just sit down and I sat there for probably 15 minutes before someone came out and asked me what I needed and I told him I have an appointment with Bryce so he let him no so another 10 minutes go by then he comes out and asked me what I want to cover up my tattoo so I told him he drew it up and then when he was tattooing me he stopped 4 times to go smoke so then I guess he didn't want to be bothered with me anymore it felt like he was just going over the same spot over and over again and I couldn't take it and I can take a lot of pain I've had 3 kids natural so yea. He charged me $243 and I gave him a $100 tip well I had to come back so he could finish it and when I came back he said he couldn't do it cause it wasn't healed all the way so I said can u add on to my Gemini tattoo on my wrist and I could see his mood change and it seemed like I was wasting his time but what I don't understand is I already had the appointment with him what did it matter what I was getting well I wanted to add a Leo symbol and like a design well I got lines all over the place and no Leo symbol and he made me feel like I'm not worth his time and he charged me $173 he got a $70 tip so I made another appointment to finish the tattoo on my back wall won't be hauled my tattoo still not finished i went in and he wasn't there so I had given the other guy $100 to give to Bryce to put towards my next bill so he can finish what he started I let the other guy no to have Bryce call me so he can let me no when is good for him and guess what I guess I'm not good enough cause he took my money and both my tattoo look like shit which I've seen his work and I showed a friend of mine who goes to Bryce my tattoo and he asked me who did that they look like shut and he tells me I should've went to Bryce well when I told him I did he couldn't believe it cause the work that Bryce did on him looks amazing but what he did on me looks like someone who just starting out did it. So I got screwed out of my money and I have an unfinished tattoo and one that looks like shit I'd like to get my money back but I bet any amount of money that he'll say he has no idea what I'm talking about so if you want to go toa tattoo go to firehouse they are amazing and they are very polite and the Greet u as soon as you walk in read more

As for tattoos I am unsure. I used to go here when my artist was here and I didn't mind it but after she left I followed her to another studio. The place is clean, getting in and out of the driveway can be dangerous. I did not like how there was only one private room which I'm assuming is used by the owner and thats fine its his shop. I do love the piercer Sharon though. She is amazing! I will never go to another piercer then her. read more

I had an awful experience just going to Altered Art to see about a walk-in appointment. My last 4 tattoos have been done at Empire in Blackwood (which is amazing), but I was hoping to try something closer to home this time. I walked in and saw a man on the customer-side of the counter and a man on the other side, whom I assume worked there. I stood there for a good 3 minutes before finally being acknowledged by the man on the customer side, who turned out to be an employee. Not even a "hello"- just a "you need something?" When I asked if there was time for a walk-in, the same guy curtly says that he's about to leave and points to the other man, who says nothing the entire time, and says that he is booked for the night. Now, if it's only 6:00 and I had a customer come in with 2 hours left before closing, I would at least consider looking at their idea or asking if they wanted to schedule an appointment for another time. Instead all I got was a silent stare in closing. I'm glad I didn't end up giving such rude, reticent people my money and will make sure to warn everyone I know not to go there. read more
