Faurschou New York is located in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn. Faurschou is accessible via public transportation, including the G train to Greenpoint. It is within walking distance from a host of hangout spots, shops & and eateries, including Brooklyn Expo Center (which hosts year-round-events), WNYC Transmitter Park, Common Goods (Home Goods Store), Comptons (good sandwices) & one of my favorites, Paulie Gees Slice Shop (pizza). Exhibits on View - 1.) Donna Huanca's "Scar Tissue ( Blurred Earth) 2.) Bjarne Melgaard's "Barney Takes It All" 3.) Tracey Emin's "Exorcism of the Last Painting I Ever Made" Faurschou is a spacious-enough museum / art gallery & all three exhibits on display are interesting. The artists' exhibits are colorful, vibrant & indicated bold statements via their artwork / masterpieces. Definitely cool exhibits. These current exhibits will be on display until 9/8/24. It seems the New York gallery was briefly shuttered due to Covid but is back in the swing of things. Currently, they are showcasing Zachary Armstrong's Twelve Animals which I found to be a very whimsical take on the animals of the Chinese zodiac. The paintings were really textured lending it an air of playfulness. On exhibition as well are Curtis Barnes (We Wear the Mask) and Robert Rauschenberg (Subjective View). Barnes is also based in Dayton, OH but instead of animals, explores the Black experience in the Midwest with an equally lively palette.

They had some fun salsa dancing going on. The art was super fun, I enjoyed the cat artwork of course. I love being able to look out the windows to see the bog long island city post office. The service is always nice here. The guy giving out the wrist bands was super funny. He was like I won't check your id you kids have fun now. The beer was like $9 thats super insane to me for a 4.7% can but thats the world we live in. The little store that they have for their merch has a great selection. I wanted to look around but it is super packed. Fun fact my father attended this school back in the 50s, wild times. Make sure you check out their basement, you wont be disappointed.

Considering this museum is now free, I can't complain - and it's easy to book online. You don't have to do a specific timed visit. Once you make a reservation online, your ticket is valid for that entire day you've booked. It's a good museum to go to if you want to stay in the Queens area and would prefer a free excursion/ weekend activity! But if you're looking for a NYC museum, don't make this one a priority over others (ie. The Met, Museum of Natural History, MoMA, Guggenheim) My family and I spent about an hour at the museum, weighted on one exhibit because the short film is about 25 minutes. There are large staircases, with only one elevator which makes elevator traffic slow.

Thanks to Hannah and Wright, we were able to get to know a variety of artists, visit studios, and truly get to know the landscape of the art world in a way that we would not have otherwise. We wanted very much to purchase a piece (or pieces) by a young, female artist and we were able to do just that, and found a match that was perfect for us. We are thrilled to have not just beautiful artworks gracing our home, but most of all to have found an artist whose career we feel invested in and whose work we feel proud to display. I was walking along 46th Avenue, by the parking lot where the LIC Flea & Food Market is located…read more(during warmer months), and I noticed a sign that said "Art Gallery." I'm really glad that I checked it out. I walked in and was greeted by a receptionist who gladly answered my questions and told me about the exhibitions and that I could also go out back to the artist community, where individual artists work. My photos will say more about the art exhibited than my words ever can. Needless to say, I enjoyed looking at the various works of art. I walked to the artist community. The door was locked, but an artist arrived and let me in. In addition to artworks in progress, I got to see some actresses practice sword fighting (they also do dramatic performances). One of the artists was super nice and talked with me a bit. The gallery is open from noon to 5 PM on weekends. Also, on Thursday evenings, they have figure drawing classes with live models for $10. There is also an Art for Kids workshops on the second Saturday of the month ($20 for parent/child, and $5 per extra sibling). The Plaxall Gallery was created by Long Island City Artists, a local non-profit, and was opened in 2016. It's free to enter, and I really recommend that people check it out!
