Also know as Neumann Leathers, this large complex of buildings is a hub for artists, musicians, and other creatives. Project Studios is an art services and co-working company for the creative field. We have grown to become the largest tenant in Neumann Leathers and the largest company of its kind in the area, utilizing 40,000 sq. ft. of repurposed former factory space. We provide creative services, studio spaces, and memberships. Our main studios are housed in the R. Neumann and Co. factory complex in Hoboken, New Jersey. Project Studios also has a metal shop and additional studios in the Bergen-Lafayette neighborhood of Jersey City. The company also has had exhibition space in New York City and maintains a storefront gallery in rural Indiana called PROTO ZERO. Project Studios now offers not only private and semi-private studios, but also 6000 sq. ft. of studio amenities. This rich portfolio of resources is provided in the form of well-equipped shops for ceramics, photography, warm-glass, and woodworking. A walk-in spray booth accompanies our wood shop. We provide a wide array of shared tools such as kilns, welding machines, photography strobes, and air-compressors. These would represent a significant cost to an individual artist. All of our members may use any shared shop free of charge.

I spent a few weeks scouting out shared locations, but was disappointed to find that much of the competition offered incredibly high prices for small or under-equipped spaces. We are a growing company, so I didn't want to spend money on unnecessary coffee bars, pool tables, and other features that were common in other spaces. In addition, I spend much of the day on the phone or video conferences, so needed a truly private and quiet space, which many competitors simply don't offer. Fortunately, Bevmax offered very competitive rates and flexible terms, along with everything we needed as a company. The Columbus Circle location was perfect for me and offered very attractive spaces to host clients and hold meetings. I had a private office with generous space, all at rates below what competitors were charging. The secretary is very professional, and the kitchen, meeting spaces, and photocopiers are all exactly what I needed. I highly recommend that anyone who is looking to save money on an exceptional office space strongly consider Bevmax!

It is an "innovation incubator" which is a space designed to help folks develop their ideas into fruition, and flourish as an up-n-coming small business. So many of the best businesses in Queens got their legs in this space, and for food oriented bizes especially; this is a place where a licensed kitchen is available for just about any occasion from testing to presenting. This is especially important for folks who aren't looking to sign a lease for a commercial space and/or want to try something out before venturing out on their own. It's still relatively new as it's only been around for a few years. It's not the largest space, but it addresses a crucial need for small businesses who are hoping to take their food game to the next level. Folks can rent the spaces and the place is open 24 hours a day. FIngers crossed they stick around for a long time.

So cool! I did not know this place existed until last night! There were 34 vendors explaining and giving tastes of their best foods and drinks. With so many options and limited belly room, I didn't get to try all 34, but we made a brave attempt! (Ok, Maybe I tried 30). My favorites were: Biggie's Crack Toffee- winner in my book. Amazing delicious toffees. Two people next to me took a bite, one person opened their eyes wide and said OMG! The other person was nodding and smiling. Out of the three flavors available for tasting, I wanted to take home two flavors: the bitter sweet pomegranate crackling toffee and the sweet aromatic toasted pecans with bourbon. So good! Veda's Cakes and catering- their roti was this fluffy cloud-like roll filled with curried chicken. Great flavors. I will definitely visit when they set up a restaurant. Judy's Knishes- crispy potato and onions reminded me of my mother's cooking. It was filling, simple and homey at the same time. Great bite. Pretzel Man- gooey cheese stuffed fluffy pretzel was delicious. Casa Maya- their slightly sweet hearty smoked "Fire roasted red medium salsa" was so good that I bought one bottle to take home. Most surprising: Phoebe's - her 'Omega-3 bombs' were chock filled with 9 whole grains, flaxseed and was hearty and beautiful. Tasted nutty and had a soft texture. Very filling. Viva Natural Pao de Queso- gluten free cheese rolls. They tasted like lighter version of Brazilian cheese bread. I liked the cheese and the smoked salmon sandwiched inside. Uji Smoothies- smoothies made from whole grains. I thought this was be disgusting but it was surprisingly light and one of the smoothies tasted like drinking oatmeal and two tasted pretty good (chia and citrus + quinoa + mixed berries). I can't wait to come back next year!
