TLDR: Bad communication, lots of delays. Finished pergola looks good but had leaks and they never fixed it. Full story: Signed contract on 12/2021. It was not done until 8/2022 - which I didn't have a problem with. The biggest issue wasn't the delays, it was when they would say they would be there and no one showed. I had to call basically every week to make sure there was progress. To their credit, they never dodged my calls, but the amount of times the workers didn't show was ridiculous. Honestly, if the office had called to reschedule it would have been fine. Instead, no one would show, then I would call, and then there would be some excuse. If you know the workers cannot make it they should inform the homeowner. After the pergola was done, there was a leak. I understand it happens. I tried for 2 months to get someone to fix it - but every time they were scheduled, no one showed with no explanation. I finally hired another company to fix the leak. I really wanted to give them a good review but with their lack of communication and follow up I cannot recommend them. If you read the other reviews most have the same experience. read more

They are scammers. My experience: Gave Mr. Tony Requejo (Owner) 1st deposit on Day 1 for $5000. As per my contract, which is BS, I needed to pay another $5000, which I did, so I had him meet me at his warehouse, so I knew what was up. We met at another business called Town and Country Industries; he swiped my CC for $5000. My permit was never even applied for after 45 days, and I began to ask questions. I requested to cancel my job with him, and he (Mr. Tony Requejo) told me that $3000 would be lost for cancellation. I agreed so we could resolve and move on. So, I'm out $10,000 with Mr. Tony Requejo at this point. Many emails later he agreed to pay me in 60 days $7000, he keeps $3000 for free. Just wanted to share my experience with everyone when I hired Aluma Outdoor Designs to build a patio. I had them build my outdoor patio about 5 years ago. Unfortunately I should've listened to my sixth sense when reading their horrible reviews on Google, Yelp and Better Business Bureau. Since Day 1 my patio has leaked. I've made multiple requests for them to make it right and fix the leaks. The first few months after it was done they sent their "repair crew" out and merely applied a bunch of flex seal hoping it would fix their shortcomings. To no avail, I continued having leaks. After this they just started ignoring my requests or the owner (Tony) would promise to come fix it and he'd never show up. Although he did come out to my house 1 time and apologized that the crew who installed my patio (which he claims he later fired) did a terrible job and he needed to disassemble and remove a side panel to make it right. He'd make excuses of never having time or enough staff to come by, but they found the time to stay in business and serve the people who hadn't paid them yet. I left a detailed review of how poor their service is and their product, and they post some canned BS reply about calling them to make it right. After getting an estimate from a general contractor for almost $7000 to fix the repairs, Tony decided to come out to my house. He removed the entire side panel of the patio and we discovered a huge nest of ants inside all the rotten fascia board that has been saturated for the last 5 years. Now, over a month ago he came out and left my patio in pieces so the rain water from my roof just pours into the patio. I had to place a plastic garbage bag in front of the hole he left open on the side of my house where the rotten fascia board was removed. He's once again ignoring my requests to come back and finish the job and close up the patio. I have a patio that floods with rain water now and an open section of fascia board allowing moisture and critters into my walls. Now I've had to hire a GC to do the repairs and handle things thru an attorney to get my patio finished. DONT EVER USE THIS COMPANY!!!! DO YOUR RESEARCH. read more

One of the worst decision in my life has been contracting the services of this company. Complete lack of communication and disrespect of customer time and needs. After paying them 2/3 of the agreed price in June (since they claimed they got all the materials), 3 month later and tons of texts and calls from my side, the patio is not done yet. Never returns calls, never tells you when they are going to be finish. They have told me they'll be here and they don't show up and don't call to tell what happened. You can find out a week or two later after multiple attempts. Very frustrating. At this point I don't even know when its going to be finished, and don't want to get somebody else, since don't know if they will comeback and trying to collect later. On July 20, 2012, Aluma Outdoor Designs did a fantastic job for me creating the illusion of not having a screen patio. I asked them not to place any bars between the screens, so that when I sit outside I don't have the distraction of seeing bars while looking at my lake. They fully complied with my orders and created a beautiful screen patio for me. Everyone that comes over, always gives me a compliment in reference to the illusion that I explained above. Sometimes, I have to tell people that there is a screen there, however, I have never had any problems with someone walking into the screen as of yet. Today, April 6, 2022, I called Carolina about a broken door closer, and to my astonishment, I was told to come pick it up at no cost to me. These people are amazing! This company used substandard bolts, or the wrong size, to attach our screened porch to our slab while they were doing the contracted "repairs." Two of the bolts literally broke off. And they promised to send someone to replace the bolts but subsequent emails have been ignored. The crew sent to our house was as unprofessional as they come. One older man was unable to climb the ladder. One other man wore flip-flops and the last young man had a seizure on the last day. Thankfully, he was not in the roof at the time. I searched this company on the Broward Clerk of Court site and if you're considering hiring this company, I advise you to do the same. read more

I really had a great experience and love the final product. Honestly, I had read the poor reviews and was holding my breath. I decided to meet with them and decide for myself. From day 1 they were communicative, respectful of the work space, and responsive. The crews arrived as scheduled, did the work, passed inspections and I had absolutely no issues working with them. They answered all question I had (and I had a lot!) They went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with the final product. We now have a safe and secure space to spend time with family and friends outside. Doesn't get much better than that- worth every penny. I do recommend them. read more

I really struggled not to write a review, but I didn't want to idly standby as others fell victim to this company's tactics. I hired Aluma towards the end of the year and about ten months later my pergola was completed. Let me tell you how I got there. After noticing many months of no progress, I reached out to the company numerous times and got the same answer over and over. After doing my own research, I learned that the company never filed the proper paperwork with the city in order to get the permits they needed to begin work. When Aluma finally decided they were ready to file the paperwork. They waited and waited before they paid any of the fees in order to have the permit issued. I began to grow tired of the excuses, so I went to the permit office myself and paid the permit fee. Once the fee was paid, I still waited and waited until finally someone came out to mark the hole. That somebody was Tony Requejo. He put a big x on my pavers where the hole was supposed to be dug. Weeks had passed but the hole was still not dug. After calls and emails and calls and emails, I finally had someone show up to prepare and dig the hole. I am sure you can guess what happened next, nothing!! More waiting!! And the saga continues.... Eventually to make a long story short the Pergola was finally completed, but not completed in a satisfactory way. The beams were not level, the gutter was improperly positioned to drain water back into my patio that was supposed to be free of water and rain, and like so many other victims of this company's unprofessional and shoddy work, my roof leaked too. Yes they came and tried to fix it (only because they weren't paid in full) but as one might expect, the leaks were never resolved. I have to pay and get the gutters repaired and properly draining. Right now they spit flooding amounts of water back onto the pavers that the pergola was intended to keep dry. Bottom line, do not do business with this company! read more

I have no idea about the recent reviews of this company which has several people suing them in Court for faulty material & installation. We met with Tony's sister Millie who comes out and gives you a quote and one thinks that this is a "reputable" business. People...do your homework before signing the contract and hiring them. You cannot withhold monies if there is a leak that can and will be corrected by them as stated on their contract is totally false! Where it's true is that they will never ever repair or correct anything! They come out, go on it, say they fixed it and leave. It rains again, and again it leaks. I think we called them maybe 10 times to repair the product they installed and never did to date! They did not use stainless steel screws and there where holes all over the panels. After the rainy season the panels still had condensation of water. With the heat that we have in Miami, if those panels were done correctly, they would never leak or have water condensation in them. Therefore proves the product and the "so called guarantee" is non existent!! We are having to hire another company now to remove the shady, improper install and do it all over again. My experience with them is short lived. Weeks ago, I was told that the permit package is completed, just needed the survey. I delivered the survey and Tony told me, in an email that the permit would be filed that week. Was not done. I inquired to the office, spoke to the son and was told that the engineering report is not completed. Twice, I asked for copies of license and insurance and so far that has not been delivered. This may be premature, but I have a real bad feeling about this company, especially after reading all the negative reviews. I will update my review and adjust the star rating as deserved. Beware: Do not use this company. My husband and I gave this company a go because they seemed professional and honest...BIG Deception!!! We provided them with a deposit for an outdoor pergola in May 2020...they did not begin until October 2020. Then in January 2021 they did not follow proper procedures (as promised) per city code regulations and did not ask for inspections at correct time. The city denied passing the inspection because of this, and the owner of Aluma Outdoor Design personally promised to correct this problem and make it the companies priority. Here we are in March of 2021...and nothing. They even built a smaller pergola than we asked for and is in our contract. They did not complete the work (plumbing, electrical) that we paid for, and was in our contract as well. Called them for an estimate for a pergola roof. First the guy who came was saying how outdated my current older pergola was. (Yes, that's why I'm calling you for an estimate) He asked me if I had received an other estimates from other companies and when I told him the others, he proceeded to bad mouth all of them and how his work was with the top quality materials. (These people all buy from the same supplier) but anywho....he then asked me the size of my terrace (umm, isn't that why you are here, why don't you measure it? ) when I told him the size, He argued that the size I was telling him was wrong. I think I know the size of my terrace, been living here for 23 years. Once he measured he agreed the size I gave him was correct. If 10 min into his estimate he was this arrogant and bad mouthing my taste not to mention his competitors then I refuse to give my hard earned money to someone this unprofessional. After yet another promise to tend to the $10,000 lien placed on my home due to Antonio Requejo's (owner) inability to honor his responsibilities and more importantly his word, nothing has been done, and not a phone call has been made. If you read his response to my first review, he blatantly lies claiming that I had my contractors confused. I f he wasn't responsible why did he pay the original $500 fines to Miami Dade County? The last thing I was told by Antonio Requejo (owner), what that the issue on hand is my fault, for requesting that the electrical work be done with a permit. Beware total scam! BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY DO NOT USE! I contracted them on October 20, 2018 to install a pergola on my house, I paid them $6,200 and $1,950 as a deposit. That evening my wife did some research and we decided based on the negative reviews this is not the company we want to do business with. The next morning I called them and told them to cancel my order and they agreed to issue me a refund. As of January 8, 2019 I have yet to receive a refund. I have been told every excuse possible as to why they have been unable to process it but today I finally decided they would refund me or I am filing suit. I called their office and after being thoroughly screened I was finally able to talk to Tony Requejo, he stated they screen their calls because they receive a lot of sales calls. I asked him why I had not received my refund since October of 2018 even though he had promised numerous times I would have it in the next few days after each time we communicated. He stated they did not have the money to refund me at this time, I said thats great you used my money and now will not give it back. He stated that the credit card processor they used was paypal and they did not have enough funds to refund me to give him a week or so to get money in that account. I told him absolutely not and I expected a check today to be couriered to my office which he agreed, that was at 12:30 pm. At 3:30 PM I called again since I had not received a check and he stated he was on his way personally. At 5 PM he called to make sure I was still there, at 5:30 PM he sends me a screenshot that he is refunding me the money via paypal which clearly shows he does not have funds to cover the refund. I told him I wanted the check today and he said "sorry I cannot give you the check with no funds to cover it." I do refrain my self in posting reviews. For me to write this review, it is because my patience is over. I hired Aluma on Feb 11, 2021to build an aluminum cover in my backyard. 3 months later, May 18th, 2021 the project was completed. A few days after the installation, on the first rain, I see leaks all over the gutter, every screw on the gutter leaks. I immediately contact Aluma and notified them of the issue, sent videos and photos of the problem, and as of today, Sep. 7, 2021, no one has come back to fix the issue. I call them on a weekly basis and every time, they tell me they will come next Saturday. Aluma outdoor design cannot guarantee which day they will come and cannot schedule an repair appointment. The office states they are including me on a list, every Saturday since May, but my day never comes?? The Sales, Simone and the office Cristy are friendly, but I am waiting already 4 months for the repair. All I want is the problem fixed. read more

Unfortunately- It is now, I am reviewing these "reviews". Back in September/ Millie the sales Rep- Came to my house and we made a contract to rebuild a pAtio with second level cost totaling 17k. I was promised it would be dOne by Christmas 2019. Tony apparently is the OWner.. he called me mid December saying all pArts arrived and he's ready to install- needed sEcond payment- which I did. We're not into February 2020. Tony has continuously lied about coming/ they finally sHowed up a few weeks ago for 3hrs- dismantling my patio- with the florida weather my items are being destroyed.. and since then, they yet to return. Please rethink before you do any business with this company! My "new" aluminum roof they installed has been leaking since the day they installed it. I have called and emailed them more times then I can count, and like below posters they either say "we'll be out tomorrow" and never show up, or just don't respond. The sales person Simone was great and sold the dream however the owner Tony is less than reliable and extremely disrespectful. He disappeared at one point for 3 1/2 months with 2/3rds of our money and then come crunch time he is far from ready. He has made several date completion promises and then always has an excuse as to why it cant happen. When I have called him to ask when they are finally coming, one time he responded "fine, I will just send a crew that does not know what they are doing so that your roof will come out horrible". Another time weeks later after yet another completion date promise his answer was "sorry not coming yet, this is not a kidney transplant or heart transplant so you are just going to have to wait" and then added "I can not deal with this stress so if you would like I can close for two weeks to feel better and then come back". I gave this company Aluma outdoor designs one star because zero star would not be published. I had my patio installed after over 5 months of waiting. Tony would always call to explain the reason of the delay. It was one thing today and something else tomorrow. I was patient. On day 2 of the installation, the workers declared the job was done and promised to come back because one the posts was too short. another piece of metal was added to complete the length (see the picture) and assured me that the order was placed for the right length of the faulty post. They did not even nail the piece they left. I called this company about 27 times in the next 4 months to no avail. Tony and his daughter must have been laughing at my expense. In desperation, I called one last time and offered to pick up the missing post since I assumed was ordered, I was told that there was no need to come by they will bring the post to me. Horrible! Stay Away!!! We hired Aluma Outdoor Designs also going by the name of mydreampatio to perform a $17,000 job, a patio and tiles for our backyard. Al Ayala was the original salesman but Tony Requejo the owner came in May 28, to collect an $8,500 deposit to have a patio cover and tiles installed in our backyard. They immediately cashed the check and then we never heard anything for two weeks. I became concerned so I called on the 3rd week and Tony the owner stated they were "backed up" because of the rain but would start tomorrow. It was a lie. They never came. I called back now suspicious and he stated they would come out the next day. Almost weeks later it's now July 11th and only 3 holes were dug and cement was poured. Notice the now broken septic plumbing and the beer can left behind. They literally drink alcohol on the job. It has been one lie after another. The lack of unprofessionalism is shocking. He did not properly complete the work that he was paid for. Also, he took a $1700 down payment for a fence he was supposed to construct but after many many months the fence was never constructed. Court ordered Default Judgement granted. Please do not use this unscrupulous company. The job was never completed and the completed portion of the job had to be repaired by another company. After over 100 calls, text messages and emails requesting a refund with no response, hired an attorney. The attorney tried to work out a refund with Antonio Requejo (owner) with no avail. The usual excuses....check is in the mail, check mail to the wrong address, the check will be written next week etc. Took him to court and won a judgement against him and the company (photo of the judgement attached). To this day he is ignoring the court ordered ruling and is in contempt. The next step is to seize assets. I have also placed a complaint with the Department Of Professional regulations. The State and the County needs to protect consumers from this type of predatory companies. At this point is not about the money but about holding a company accountable for abusive consumer practices.
