This is a money grab and makes you, the owner and decision-maker look like a cheapskate. Also, there is an air of indifference in this place that is not attractive. They said yes, just bring in the receipt to get the 25% discount which is $5. I came in with my licence, receipt insurance and stood in line. A woman came through the line (Elaine) and asked everybody what they wanted and when she came, I told her and she said ok just show the person at the till everything: receipts, drivers, license, insurance. And I waited in line some more and came to a person at the till and she said she wanted to double check if they would be able to give me the $5 seniors discount. I man came out and he said that I would have to go all the way to Cochrane 56 km one way -112 km total,(where the dealership was) since they would be out $5 and Cochrane deals with their own registry. They didn't want to be out the $5, (even though I explained again I called first and also that the woman who talked to the lineup said just show them all the paperwork at the till). The man left and said he would look for the woman (Elaine). I suspect he wanted to give her a heads up that they weren't going to give me the $5 seniors discount, so that when I saw her she was prepared. Then when I saw her she changed her story - denied what she said earlier and changed it to 'I told you they would decide at the till'. All this to save the inconvenience of giving me the discount (after I was told I would get it). This is beyond believable, that for $5 which I was entitled to they would treat a senior this way. I'm going to go to another registry close by (with higher customer service ratings) and I bet anything they will give me the $5 discount.

Always wanted to support local business where I live…read more However this is the last time I will register my vehicles here. The associate was advised I wanted to register our SUV and chev cobalt. He didn't ask for how long I wanted to register it but assumed it was for only a year. After I noticed he was processing the registration for a year, I corrected him. My fault I guess as I assumed he would be asking questions such as length of registration. I provided proof of insurance for both vehicles and subsequently received the new registration certificates. I went home and then looked at the certificates and realized he had registered My corvette. It's not the first time this registries made mistakes but I'm afraid my patience has run thin.

Staff got there around 8:45, which was fine, but I think either the email or booking system needs to be adjusted--for example, the first slot could be placed at 9:15 or 9:30. This would probably be better for staff too. This created a sense of confusion before the test (wondering if they had received my booking or the test would make me late getting back to work), and also wasted my friend's time who had taken the time to get up early and come with me. I also got hit with an extra charge for using my credit card when renewing my registration on an earlier day. Staff/examiners are overall polite. I've lived in provinces where the registries are not privatized, and have found the service to be more organized with more transparent pricing.
