I stayed at this beautiful place in 2015. It is convenient to a bus route to the center of Canterbury, but it is in the country close to Blean forest. The hosts are amiable the rooms are clean and comfortable. I hope to return someday! read more

They…read moreare efficient, super friendly and left our flat looking clean at the end of each day...so coming home to a half-finished flat wasn't too stressful. - We used them a few months ago to remove our ugly built-in wardrobe and re-plaster one of our bedrooms. - Then they came back to install some radiators and fit a new wooden floor - They discovered a leak under our floor (that had been causing condensation and damp) so fixed this before they installed our new flooring. - Lastly they fitted new internal and external doors Most of this work was done by Ruslan, who is the loveliest builder I have ever met! He was really friendly and polite, and was incredibly careful with all the small details to ensure he finished every room perfectly. It's a bit like living in a totally different (and far more stylish) flat now they have finished. If we ever move house and need builders, I will definitely get them involved again. **Although this is their first yelp review, they have loooads of other good reviews on google+, so if you don't believe me, have a look: https://plus.google.com/+TiptopbuildersLtdUkservice/about

Rob is managing the build from the office, he always returns calls if he misses one, Fred (who writes the responses on here) is the the technical guy and knows his business well, and has come up with good ideas to improve the space and keep the build ticking along. The lads on site daily, have been courteous and clean, the scaffolding, shute and skip mean the garden is always tidy. The only thing holding up our build is the Oct wind and rain, mean we cannot remove the temporary roof. So far I have no concerns with the rip out (which I knew was going to be a nightmare due to the 90 years of abuse the house / plumbing and electrics have sustained over those years, the schedule of work is good and the staff are easy to talk to. The director has not called once to hassle me about anything and Im not sure I'll here from him at all. There is a 6 stage payment schedule of which we are at stage2, so no one should have ever paid all the money up front, as mentioned in one of the other reviews. Thus I can't agree with any of the 1 start ratings. Ill write another review once the work is complete.

The bathroom is my favourite as they have roll top bath tubs and a walk in shower! Great if you're a couple wanting to each get clean at the same time. Ok, I had the pleasure of staying here a couple of nights. The first night (a Saturday and a lot…read moremore expensive) was paid for by the company and I paid for the second night. This place isn't cheap (averaging a £100 a night). The location, on Canterbury's high street, was excellent. My room was quite pleasant. The view (of a corrugated roof) wasn't exactly inspiring. Tea-making facilities are available in the room along with a few top-grade cookies and organic tea. The bed was comfortable but the height of it and the placement of the television (at a little over bed-height) when combined with my double chin made TV viewing a little uncomfortable. Poor planning. Breakfast was very nice. However, not without some problems. On the first day we went down at 10am expecting that half an hour would be plenty of time. Due to the slow service by the time our breakfast had arrived they had started clearing away the buffet items. My full English breakfast wasn't as full as it could have been. I only had one fried egg and there was no black pudding (kaszanka). Not that I am particularly fond of black pudding, but I would like to get some. I suspect I had been given someone else's break. Oh, the toast was burnt too. When I am staying in a classy hotel I expect them not to burn my toast. Breakfast on the second day was more agreeable, I arrived early to ensure I was able to take advantage of the buffet. The hotel's cocktail bar was very nice. The first night I had an egg nog and for a nightcap a banana rumba drink. Not cheap at ten pounds a shot. But, hey, I wasn't paying Checking out was a pain. The girl had trouble understanding that I wanted separate bills for each night's stay. I gave up in the end.

The rooms could do with better ventilation and power showers (the water pressure is too low and Canterbury has hard, calcified water, so washing long hair is kind of a nightmare).
