He knows absolutely everything about each town and his knowledge of the area was incredible! We spent our day not only taking in the gorgeous views of the Amalfi coast but also learning so much about the area and the life and culture there. Luigi's sweet nature made this a highlight of our entire time in Italy! Amalfi is one of the most relaxing, gorgeous places in the world I have ever been! It is even better than Nusa Lembongan in Indonesian. Our tour was fantastic! He showed us each nook and corner of this beautiful coastline. It was a wonderful experience! Luigi is a warm and friendly person and we had a wonderful time! I highly recommend Amalfi coast tour! His kindness and his extremely professional service will make your time on the Amalfi truly unforgettable!

He has an intimate knowledge of all things along the Amalfi Coast. His excellent recommendations both during and after our tour(as well as his friends recommendations along the way)were off the beaten path or a quiet haven within a bustling village. The tour was never rushed. He had stops he thought we would enjoy from our conversation and adjusted the tour for impromptu stops if we had questions about certain things. I recommend booking his tour on your first full day of your stay along the Amalfi Coast, as it helped us to plan our excursions during the remainder of our stay. Thank you, Luigi!

I enjoy finding hidden places, traveling like a local in cities, and generally immersing myself in a place. I do look for advice--from friends, local residents, and my amazing travel agent. I am not a cruise person, but I found myself on a cruise in Europe with family. 8 ports in 10 days...if you want the sampler platter of the Continent, not a bad way to go. Problem: How to do more than stop in a city and check a box? This is where Amalfi Coast Destination came in. I had never been on a private tour by car before, and though I've done a number since, this was the best experience I (or my family) has had. Roberto is an amazing guide and driver. He's from the Amalfi Coast and knows just about everyone. We even ran into his father in Ravello. He gives you access to a lot of places that the tour buses won't stop at. And completely customized to your needs--we wanted to throw Pompeii into the mix and were able to do so without being rushed. The highlights: *Touristy stuff: A boat ride through a grotto, and a little miniature of a town *Shopping in Amalfi *Breathtaking views and photo stops the whole way--including a posh hotel not open to random tourists *Wandering the square of Ravello *The most amazing meal ever: balcony view down the gorge to the Med at Ristorante San Giovanni, a rustic hand crafted meal. Roberto even brought the limoncello. *Pompeii Dock to dock service in a comfortable Mercedes mini-van that could easily accommodate 6. It was a memorable day with family, one we will never forget. If you are headed to the Amalfi Coast this is the way to go: in style.

As soon as I reviewed it, I knew it was one of the things I just had to do with my family, particularly the "Lemon Picnic Experience". I contacted my travel advisor, Fabio Ilardi of "Italy Bespoke Tours" to help me arrange the picnic experience. My dreams got bigger and I thought of the possibility of having a family photo session at the lemon farm. I asked Fabio to contact the lemon farm to check to see if was even permissible to bring a professional photographer on site for a formal portrait session. Fabio called the farm and the manager, Mr. Salvatore Aceto granted us permission. Honestly, I felt like I won the lottery. I was so excited and grateful. I researched local Amalfi Coast photographers and fell in love with Emiliano Russo's website. I loved his eye and his ability to capture light in his photography. I then found out Emiliano actually personally knew the Aceto family and took photos of the family in the past. You can actually still see posters of Emiliano's photography at the check out counter at the lemon farm today as Emiliano pointed them out to me when we were on site. Honestly, I think all of this was fate! On arrival to the farm, Andrea our guide greeted us. She was so welcoming, fun, and enthusiastic. She exuded passion and love for her family's lemon farm. She explained that her family has been taking care of this lemon farm for the past 200 years. She toured us through the museum and then showed us a large Sfusato Amalfitano lemon. If you could bottle up all the sunshine and happiness into an object, let it be the Sfusato Amalfitano lemon! It was honestly as large as a cantaloupe. There were climbs to different terraces of the farm and each level got prettier and prettier, like we were reaching heaven. The views and the lemon trees just got more gorgeous the higher we climbed. Along the way our photographer Emiliano and his assistant photographer Felice Tozzi captured pictures of my family during the journey. I am glad of this, because honestly I needed something tangible after this experience to remind me this was all real and not just a beautiful dream! We then returned to the cafe area. Andrea poured us the freshest and tastiest lemonade ever! We were then brought to the private picnic area to have lunch. The meal was amazing! After lunch, we came back to the cafe area to have dessert. The lemon sponge cake was divine. My boys had the traditional lemon cake. My youngest son told me it was the best lemon cake he has ever had. We also had limoncello and a lemon flavored espresso! While sitting in the cafe, Mr. Salvatore Aceto greeted us. I immediately jumped up to shake his hand and to thank him for giving us permission to do the photo session in his farm. He then pointed further down the cafe that his father was just across the way and wanted to introduce us to him. Honestly, I was star struck! I felt I was meeting a celebrity. Mr. Luigi Aceto stood up from his chair to greet me and he kissed my hand twice. I was so in awe of him taking care of this beautiful farm his entire life. I also found out that the following day was going to be his 91st birthday! I then thanked Mr. Salvatore Aceto again and honestly I started to cry happy tears. The day was truly a dream come true and I will be forever grateful. The Aceto family did not only make us feel like VIPs for the afternoon, they made us feel like family. My only regret is that I forgot to ask to eat the lemon whole with the rind! How I interpret this is that I WILL return someday to this beautiful lemon farm to do just that and book another picnic experience. May God continue to bless your beautiful family and lemon farm for the next 200 years and beyond! I hope my post inspires others to enjoy your lemon picnic experience! It was just simply amazing and hands down the #1 top experience of my entire Italy vacation! Grazie mille!

Over centuries as their power waned, the sites became fishing hamlets and subsequently now tourism destinations due to the scenic beauty of their natural landscapes. These mostly quaint municipalities are: Amalfi, Atrani, Cetara, Conca de' Marini, Furore, Maiori, Minori, Positano, Praiano, Ravello, Scala, Tramonti, and Vietri sul Mare. Many are located along the water, others like Ravello, Tramonti, and Furore, are perched on the slopes of the Lattari Mountains, and to reach them you need to take public or private transport up the winding and narrow cliffside roads. Personally, my recommendation is to pass on driving yourself, unless you like tackling these types of harrowing driving terrains. Parking is not easy to find and many town centers are pedestrian only so you have to get out and walk anyways. For the coastside towns, travel by ferry is a more convenient and lovely way to see the waterfronts and mountains. The unique topography of the cliffside towns led to cultivation of lemons, citrus and vineyards, which have become synonymous with the region, and during the warmer months you will see citrus and especially lemons everywhere! EVERYWHERE. Walking down the street in Sorrento, after a whiff of motorcycle engine exhaust, the breeze carries a lemon scent when you walk close to one of what feels like hundreds of lemon orchards - in public parks, private gardens and sometimes just randomly along the street. Shops carry fresh lemons the size of grapefruits and I even saw one the size of my head (no exaggeration, see pic!) and every type of lemon souvenir you could imagine under the sun, edible and non-edible. Of course local cuisine incorporates lemons into their dishes too! Amazing food can be enjoyed at many restaurants here, though I've mentioned in separate reviews, these will be pricier than your average Italian city/town. You certainly pay for the views and there's a never-ending slew of spots to catch a breathtaking panorama. And speaking of a panoramic views, if you're into hiking, Il Sentiero degli Dei (the Path of the Gods) is a moderate trail that winds around the higher vantage points connecting Agerola to Positano, with...you guessed it...stellar viewpoints along the way. I lift weights 3x a week and I was still sore from my fingertips and arms, shoulders, and back. My whole upper body got quite a workout in those 3 hrs. -The water was very choppy from just the fact that it's the sea, but all the boats make it even more so. This was not a kayaking adventure for the weak and I'd never recommend for a non swimmer. The waves could overturn your kayak and although you're wearing a life jacket, if you can't swim, that situation wouldn't be fun. A 3 hr adventure cost €69 per person. You meet near the Amalfi Port. We had a car and chose to drive there and park. Amalfi fills up very fast. We arrived at 8:30am and there were plenty of spaces at BERMA parking, but by 8:45, every space was taken. We arrived early and grabbed croissants and cappuccinos before our 10am time slot. Amalfi is nice to enjoy in the early hrs before the town explodes with people. Nice guides. Good equipment. Antonio and Tiny Tony explained all about the villages and it was really interested. Also, there was no way I would have made it if he didn't teach us how to do it. Then we started going in the the gulf and he explained to us which side to go on. Also some people were falling behind so Little Tony helped them and Antonio helped us. We had a great time kayaking and then we reached a beach and they let us take a break. During the break they gave us a towel, crackers and bananas. We also got to jump off a 12ft rock. Also they made some funny jokes. It was very hard work so make sure your not tired for the tour! It was so much fun and I totally recommend you doing it. The staff was phenomenal and it was very organized. If your looking for some good views and a great tour this is a good thing to do.
