I paid them in full when they did they job, unaware if the extent of damages - but I'm still out of 1/3 of my home after 7 months. Nothing can be fixed until this is resolved. And I'm supposed to pay another $7-8k of depreciation bc "they can't replace 10 yr old carpet with 10 yr old carpet"?? I didn't cause any of this damage - and they accepted responsibility for it. Now I have to get an attorney to handle this bc I can't get it resolved. AVOID THIS BUSINESS!

We called them from Austin (where we live) because while visiting earlier in the week we felt the system didn't seem to be blowing cold/keeping up as it should. Even though we said it wasn't an emergency Lone Star sent a tech over the same day. Mom said he spent quite a bit of time running tests and could find nothing wrong. She said he was very polite, explained everything to her and that even though it was past the one year labor warranty he did not charge for the call. It turns out that while there we must have remedied any problem when we replaced her return air filter with a clean one, but couldn't really tell because her ceilings are so high and we did it at the end of our visit. Anyway, when we had gone outside the air blowing out from the condenser was not very hot so we thought the freon was low hence the service call for Mom...but come to find out, the newer larger units don't put off as hot of air, only 15-20 degrees hotter than the ambient air. So Lone Star's install was good and this review is a thank you as well as a recommendation. (My brother selected Lone Star for Mom and he researches...so a double recommendation if you count that :-) ).

We moved into our new home last August 2024. Our AC unit has frozen up almost daily since we moved…read morein. Our unit is now set at 76 degrees, and it is still freezing up. We have called numerous times, and they are willing to come out and charge us 250.00(of course it could cost more depending on what they find and how long it takes) to clean it out. They come into the house, then make two or three trips outside collecting supplies. You are paying for the time they drove up and all the trips in and out of the house. They are also willing to sell us another part that should be working just fine for 100.00. Why would we need a spare part that should be working when it is a brand new unit. I am guessing this spare part is the top of the unit that keeps freezing up. They are also willing to sell us these fine metal mesh filters that fall apart the minute you take them out to clean them. I would definitely not recommend these people for you AC needs.

That same company also said it would take them another two months to get to us (due to the heat of summer). Then we were recommended to try JC Heating & Cooling, from a friend from work. They literally spent an hour diagnosing the problem. They were back that week, it took them 15 minutes to fix the actual problem, and it cost us not even a tenth of what the other company quoted. The system didn't need to be replaced, it had insulation blocking the air flow (from the installation years ago, way before we owned the house). Truly great guys that were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. First time we've used this business and they have gained life long customers.
