They required my FULL SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER even though I gave them my insurance card. I tried to insist that they did not need but their computer system would not accept. blanks. In this day and age of cyber hacks and fraud I cannot believe offices still use this. All my other physical and dental offices understand. read more

After I was not allowed to check in without giving my FULL SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER and seeing the PA who took my vitals, the doctor was 30 minutes late for my appointment and asked me why I was there (which I had put on my paperwork and told the PA already). I stated I was there for an annual physical and my thyroid check for my prescription. I also stated I would like to get a year's prescription because I would not meet my deductible of $8000 and every doctor's visit was therefore out of pocket. Dr. Burson stated she checks thyroid twice per year. I stated that I had been taking thyroid for years and my prescription does not change. She insisted that she checks thyroid twice per year because it's a hormone that can change. I stated I did not want to pay for 2 visits per year and she then stated that perhaps that this was not a good fit. I said I guess not and she walked out without looking back, WORST SERVICE EVER!!!! I have to give praise to my Dr. I became Dr. Malone's patient in 2008. He was fresh out of medical school and just started at Amarillo Family Physician. Since then we have formed a long term relationship. He's been there for me in my ups and downs. He listens and cares. I can tell him anything and never feel judged. I know he takes my health concerns seriously and treats me like a friend and his assistant Brittany as well. They make an amazing team. I'm deeply grateful for this. The lady at the check in counter for the clinic was very polite and helpful. The nurse however was extremely rude and told us to go sit down when we were answering insurance questions that the other lady asked. She wanted us to sit down so she could discuss with a patient about a medical issue loud enough for the whole waiting room to hear and know why she was there. Three years ago, Dr. Salcido diagnosed me as having diverticulitis even though I had no history of it. He prescribed two antibiotics. The MRI he ordered for later that week showed no diverticulitis. He prescribed another antibiotic. When my condition did not get better, I had to threaten him with a bad review to get him to refer me to a gastroenterologist. The enterologist said I had C-Dif, and that the antibiotics Dr. Salcido kept giving me had destroyed my gut biome. I am still suffering the effects of that mis-diagnosis. I switched to Dr. Anna Burson, who told me a few months ago to stop reading so much. I had stumbled onto an article that said a sleep med I was on causes Alzeimers. I checked out the references in the Journal of American Medicine to make sure the article was accurate, and then got off the med. Dr. Burson was not happy that I did that on my own. I decided to leave her then, but had not found another doctor. So, when I had a small growth I needed checking out, I saw Dr. Burson's PA, Tonia Hudson. Hudson said it was a lymph node and did a cancer antigen test and sent me to a surgeon. The surgeon said the growth is not even in an area lymph nodes are, and told me that the cancer antigen test had been for my ovaries and uterus, which I have not had for 30 years. Perhaps the doctors and PAs at this center need to read a bit more. The office manager charged me $25. to transfer my charts even though I have had to pay to see a surgeon I did not need to see and pay for tests for organs I do not have. read more

Great place if you want to pay to have your time wasted. Honestly, went in for dry eyes that I end up fixing with saline eye wash on my OWN. They wanted to run some tests and the phlebotomist didn't really know what they were doing. It's been weeks of them calling while I'm at work and unavailable when I return calls 3x per day. They refused to provide me with "follow my health" charting system start up so that I can access results. After getting results back I requested labs drawn to be able to treat my condition and was asked by Dr. Martin's MA, Mindy who has a very poor bedside manner,"are you a doctor, are you a doctor, are you a doctor? I don't think so". Additionally, referrals sent over to other specialists were incorrect and required additional communication prolonging care. Even after transferring care out of this system, I still had problems getting referrals to doctors that I had specified very clearly and provided all information for. I live in Austin and called my aunt and uncle in the panhandle to find that my uncle was in serious trouble exhibiting dangerous signs of Alzheimer's. My aunt and uncle had tried to get help for a few years, but became disillusioned by the doctor's they had visited with before. They were so beaten down that I had to take matters into my own hands. With the Covid-19 Shelter-in-place and it also being Good Friday, I was worried of what kind of help I could offer. Fortunately, this office was open and the staff were the best that they could be. They found an appointment immediately, had the nurse call me to plan for their visit and all my aunt and uncle had to do was show up. An hour later, I got incredibly emotional text messages from my aunt saying that the female doctor was "awesome." My aunt said that as soon as the doctor read my aunt's notes and looked at my uncle, she knew exactly how to help. Both my uncle and my aunt cried during the appointment, after the appointment in the car and at the lab for blood tests. Tears of absolute gratitude to me for making a simple call and for this office for saving their lives. They went to terrible specialists the past years and found no help, then this primary care doctor got them on track and on the road to a healthy life past 65. Eternally grateful. Utterly the biggest fraud in medical care I've personally ever encountered. Both me and my husband were patients of Dr. Armando Salcido, MD and in 2020 we had changed insurance through the healthcare marketplace. We kept our appointments and during this time he said he wanted to do bloodwork. He said it would be about 200.00. So we reluctantly agreed. We received a bill for almost 1,000! We gave our insurance information and we were told the billing clerk would file our insurance directly and that never happened. I disputed this amount and when I called again for an appointment I was told I was let go as a patient because of this. Completely unethical and now they are charging me for my medical records. Me and my husband both take blood pressure pills and they acted like those can just be discontinued while we look for another doctor. These people are without any ethics. I've seen the bad reviews over the years and now I understand completely. I was told we got sent a letter in which we never received. But apparently they don't do certified mail to make certain something is received. These people gouge the insurance and also gouge the patient and then offer substandard care. It's unethical to treat someone like this who has always paid their fees and had to jump through hoops to get medication refills. The office staff is the rudest and can't be bothered. I dealt with someone named Stephanie who basically talked down to me like trash. I'm now looking for an ethical family doctor that is available and understanding of excessive medical fees in relation to insurance. I wouldn't recommend this group at all. read more

I love AFP! I see Dr. Malone but I have also seen a couple of other doctors during their urgent care hours and they're all great. They are able to schedule appointments very quickly, no waiting weeks to be seen. Once you check in, the wait to be taken back to a room is very short. I don't think I have ever spent more than an hour at the clinic for an appointment, even when I have had to have X-rays taken. Their labs and X-rays are all done in the same building, so you don't have to worry about going to a secondary location to have blood drawn. Also, as I mentioned, they have extended walk-in hours after regular business hours and on Saturdays for established patients, and there is next to no wait time if you go for a walk-in, as opposed to some urgent care clinics where you may spend hours in the waiting room. read more

Every experience I've had with this office was terrible. I had difficulties with their in house lab, didn't feel listened to my the healthcare team, was given the wrong prescription order not once but twice; and was expected to go a week without my prescription I take daily for hormone replacement until they got back to me. Not to mention making decisions they then did not inform me of regarding my medications. They are unprofessional and negligent to their patients. read more

It's been over a year since this experience, but I had the worst experience I have ever had at a doctors office here. The doctor came into the room already in a bad mood and proceeded to treat me terribly. He spoke to me with such contempt before I had even said anything to him. When I told him my reason for being there, he told me that he thought I was lying after a few minutes of interrogating me and left the room. He eventually returned and gave me a prescription. When I asked questions about whether or not there would be any interactions with another medication I was on, he was very dismissive and made me feel stupid for asking. I am not normally an emotional person, but I left the doctor's office in tears. I had previously been trying to find a new regular doctor, but this experience made me afraid and reluctant to do so. read more

Dr Salcido was the doctor I saw after moving from KC to help with my mothers hospice care. I had a PCP and Psychiatrist who I've been seeing for over 20 years. I went for physical as new patient for script refills and work up. Of course I had high blood pressure especially under circumstances. He refilled all and then changed dosage of a psych med in half then wouldn't refill on second request. It was for anxiety and he certainly caused more stress with dying mother. He is arrogant and doesn't listen to patients. He never answered back with explanation. He even scolded me about medication abuse. Only hope right now is I don't die from heart attack before my mother passes. Im already looking for a completely new clinic and scrambling on top of everything. Dr. Britten is great but his nurse as well as most of the other nurses that have taken my blood pressure either don't know how to take a blood pressure or don't care to take the time. I am a Cardiology Tech with years of experience so I do know how to take a BP. I have chronic low blood pressure and it's very hard to hear, this has been documented by Dr. Martinez consistently for over 12 years. It's normally in the low 100s to low 115s. They jack the cuff and open it wide while the mercury just drops. You CANNOT get a reading on anyone like that but they write the made up numbers as being in the 120s and each time I return they go up 2 numbers then down 2 numbers. Occasionally they have someone that actually takes it and it's low and I'm asked if it ever goes that low and I explain that it's normally that low and documented by Dr. Martinez. I've even asked the PA to retake the BP and sure enough my BP was 15 points lower. A BP is very important!! read more

This review is for Dr. Steven K Norris and his front office staff. How can you, a doctor lower the value of any patient's worth so low that you don't even feel compelled to do anything. That doesn't just make you a bad doctor that makes you the worst kind of doctor, dangerous. You just don't care! I am writing this review for my 86 year old father who was a patient of Dr Norris for several years. I personally took him to 99% of the appointments and made decisions based on Dr Norris's recommendations so I feel I am fully qualified to give this unbelievable account of how my father was treated and more importantly how he wasn't treated.. It started OK. He ran all the tests needed to make his diagnosis and recommendations for treatment of neck pain & sinus problems. He recommended neck injections even though he said he couldn't find any problem other than a little arthritis causing his neck pain. I thought it was a little extreme at this point. He also had him going to a Dr for his sinuses. After the 2nd neck injection he started having a reaction and everything tasted like salt. He couldn't eat anything and lost about 40 lbs. He went from walking on his own, to a walker & then to a wheel chair when I had to take him to the doctor for his sinuses. He was very weak and his level of life had dropped down so far that he even tried to commit suicide by cutting his neck. He had to go to the pavilion and was around other doctors. It took months to get his strength back. Up to this point nobody could have seen that he would have had a reaction to the injections so you just have to move on and do what you can. This next part will show you just what kind of doctor and person Dr Norris is. At our next appointment I told Dr Norris just what I stated above about his reaction to the injections and what followed. What he did next just blew me away. No questions, No sympathy. Dr Norris just throws up his arms and says he doesn't know what else to do. This doctor just doesn't care! He acted like it was my fathers fault. I asked him if he could at least increase his pain medicine so I could feel like we had at least done something, which he did. With this increase I was able to keep my father's pain under control. This would have been the professional time to refer my father to another doctor after admitting that you had no idea what to do next. After this I hated to take him back but also hated going thru getting a new Dr at his age. I should have because it only took 2 days to find a real doctor and one who cares. Dr Norris continued to do nothing. What Dr Norris does next is again unbelievable. After an annual checkup I told Dr Norris he needed a refill on pain medicine and he said just take it to the pharmacy and they'll call me, I'll authorize it, no problem. That time came and I had to call his office on the 4th day and they apologized and said they would get it taken care of right away. I had to call again on the 5th day at which time I was totally frustrated with Dr Norris. He finally authorized it and also found the time to write a DUMP letter canceling my father's care. I called up to see what the problem was and they said I cussed, which I didn't. All I was trying to do was get his pain medication refilled prescription. I want everybody to know just exactly what I said. After being told by the staff again that they were still waiting on Dr Norris I quoted what my pharmacist said when I dropped it off. I asked how long it usually takes and they said it depends on how good your doctor is, some get back in 5 minutes. I answered that I didn't think I had a very good doctor and they apologized for him. That was the whole conversation. All I quoted to the staff was that my pharmacist said "it depends on how good your doctor is ". I'll admit I was frustrated but absolutely did not cuss and I think I have a right to be frustrated with you and what you call health care. I want to know what you could possibly tell yourself or what reason you could have for treating my father like he has no value. As I said before the professional time to refer my father to someone else was when you gave up, not make up excuses to dump him in hopes of covering up your mistakes. It's obvious you just don't care. I have contacted the AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION and filed a full report. They seem to have a different idea of what health care should be like. No doctor should treat any person the way you have. You and your staff (front office) have shown absolutely no caring or compassion and even lowered yourselves to a point to lie to try and cover up your failings. P.S. After taking my father to a new doctor he began to improve after just one visit and even stopped asking for his pain medicine. I should have done this long ago. This part is important, I didn't say anything about the problems my father was having with Dr Norris. I just stated what I had to. I let the doctor do what she wanted to just like I did Dr Norris. read more

I specifically went in to have a bio form filled out and faxed on 11/9. The form was not received by insurance by 11/28. I called everyday and was told the dr would call me (I just wanted the form faxed). The dr never called and the form was not sent. I had to take time off work 11/30 and go to the office and give them a new form that had to be received by insurance 12/1. I was given the original form that was signed by Dr. Alleman on 11/11. When I called each day I was told "I will personally take care of this", "the dr has been busy taking care of patients" (I thought I was a patient), "we will try to locate the form and get it faxed before we go home" (this was on 12/30 and it had to be received by 12/1). When I took off work and went to the office and waited for the form, the nurse handed it to me and said I faxed your form - no so sorry we didn't get it in or for all the time you spent on the phone or taking off work to come back to make sure we did what we promised. read more
