As many times as I had previously gone there to get my teeth cleaned I really didn't think I was asking too much. I let them know on the phone that I had a hard limit of $20k for this procedure but they still asked me come in anyway. In the end they presented an itemization that added up to over $72k and then graciously reduced that, by doing nothing, to just under $50k. The Hippocratic oath indicates a doctor should do no harm. That should include psychological and financial harm. Based on my calculations they are attempting a profit margin of ~1000%. Had they been honest and transparent I would have respectfully accepted the fact they could not meet my price point. Instead they had me take a day off work, drive 5 hours, and waste my time. This office needs to respect their clients more and reconsider their ethics. example retail dental supply pricing. During our long wait in the waiting lobby we had inquired about the length of time waiting to be seen, but weren't given any explanation as to what the delay was. The doctor informed later, while my father was being seen that he was running behind, and was playing catch up for the days appointments. The lobby being rearranged and set up for a Chamber of Commerce event taking place later on seemed to be of more importance than patient care. Professional, business etiquette is lacking at this facility. Getting phone calls returned in a timely manner, and keeping the patient informed in regards to their care is not a top priority here either. To expect this kind of service at an establishment other than a 'professional medical' office is standard in DR. To get this kind of service at a healthcare facility is truly disappointing.
