on august 19, 2020, during mediation with greenway roofing, charlie stated i voided the warranty by…read moredoing some repairs to the soffiting and facia board (which have nothing to do with the bad decking they covered over with new shingles and lied to me stating all bad decking was replaced). i stated that i had to do remove the facia board and soffiting to expose the rotten decking they covered over. they would not warranty their work (which has a 5-year "fake" warranty) so i had to do some repairs myself. i had to install facia board to keep storm water from entering the attic area where i had to remove the soffiting. not affecting the decking. charlie stated that the (see photographs) bad wood under the new shingles rotted since they installed the new shingles. the decking had been rotten for years. the house had tarps on it when i purchased it. it was leaking in various spots since hurricane rita (september 2005). cervantes stated the decking was rotten due to leaves on the roof and "all the hurricanes and storms we had since the roof was installed." pictures were taken 5-6 months after the new shingles (and supposedly decking) were installed. now charlie and cervantes are playing the "victim"." charlie states he will sue me for defamation. cheat me out of $6,800, get confronted with it, then play the "victim." this is how they respond to a customer who calls them regarding poor workmanship and warranty. charlie stated to the mediator he came to my house "for a month" making repairs to satisfy me. (came several times and conducted minimal repairs). what he basically was stating is their workmanship was so poor that he spent a month doing repairs and the roof is still in horrible condition: 17 bad spots shingles on top of roof going in two directions 122 feet of drip edge was installed over the underlayment (water barrier). this is per re-roofing code for roof edges. (no gables) 122 feet of shingles need to be pulled up to do the drip edge installation properly. 122 feet of underlayment needs to be replaced or covered over with new underlayment for a proper water barrier. some shingles coming up. some shingles around two vents are coming up. some of the decking they replaced with plywood is loose-either not nailed in correctly or not nailed in at all. the plywood they used for replacing some decking is ¾"-should have been 5/*". (too high, uneven) a building inspector found 11 defects prior to me removing the facia board and soffiting revealing at least 9 more defects. the day after the roof was replaced water was dripping off of a ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms. charlie fixed this. two days later water was coming out of the sheetrock during a rain, in the same bedroom. charlie fixed this. with all of these problems, in mediation charlie offered an insulting $300 for the problems. i wonder how many poor roof jobs greenway has conducted without the owners having checked their work, and how many more they might cheat. charlie lied to the mediator and stated all the sheetrock on the ceiling was removed and he was able to see the entire underneath of the decking and there was no problems. lie-only 5 1/2 sheets of sheetrock were replaced during the entire remodel. only less than one sheet was absent from the back bedroom when charlie arrived. this is where the water was leaking from the new roof. 8-23-20 while installing facia board i discovered three more rotten areas on decking that was covered by new shingles. one of the rotten areas even had a hole and had "soft" areas, as stated in the contreck would be checked for. in the contrack stating "check for soft decking" mean check for it and if any is discovered, disregard it and cover it over with new shingles and hope no one discoveres them.
