You take the cut off for Cumbernauld when you are heading out of Airdrie on the Stirling Road. Turn right and then first left down through the little hamlet of Luggiebank (I just love that name!). At 1st roundabout turn right and then right again at the second roundabout where you will see the sign for Palacerigg Country Park (right turn just about 100yds from r.a.). It is not very large but is a pretty setting with lots of lovely trees and foliage and this is home to some georgious animals and birds. Two beautiful black swans with red bills sail about serenely in the little lake. You will see pigs (one giant one), goats proudly showing off enviable (if you're a man that is!) goatees, rabbits, hares, ferrets, peacocks, peahens, Zebedee a sacred Asian cow and Eddie the donkey who sadly has a condition that makes him a bit wobbly on his legs! There are any number of lovely animals who look genuinely happy to be there! I have a bit of a thing about animals being kept in captivity but these little creatures do look at home unlike magnificent cheetas, lions, pumas, elephant, giraffes and others of the mighty animal kingdom who appear to be miserable (understandably) and stagnating in badly run zoos and so called safari parks. There is no charge to enjoy this contact with nature, which is not far from the city of Glasgow. Parking is free with sufficient space and the little park hosts a cafe and toilet facilities, of course. A lovely place, particularly for young children or just to have a bit of space in a pleasant little haven for yourself.

I liked one lioness/panther sculpture in particular that had been presented by a John S. Kennedy, not sure what the S stands for. The paths could be confusing on first attempt, though I found I could consult my phone to help me find which path to take. A number of critters were out in the greenery the few times I walked through in July 2019. The hotel where I was staying had a small parking lot that was first-come first-serve, so I did most of my exploring on foot. Kelvingrove Park was one option if I wanted to take in the nature of Glasgow and did not want to walk along the street.

We explored the two greenhouses- Kibble Palace and Long Pit. It's amazing how many species of plants there were within the two greenhouses. There is also a spacious outdoor green space.

I visited this time for Puff's toddler group trip and was delighted to go back. Smudge has now…read moredeclared herself far too grown up for this sort of activity much to my disgust as I loved our trips here when she was little. This visit was a beautifully sunny day so the perfect day to wander around checking out all the animals; goats, donkeys, GIANT bunnies, guinea pigs, cows, sheep, rats, collie dogs, geese and puff's favourite a cat - we have a cat at home!!! As well as a farmyard full of animals to check out, you can pet lots of the wee ones. A whole barn full of fluffy bunnies, chickens and guinea pigs to stroke. Unless like me you're allergic in which case not touching is a much better option - puffy eyes, manic sneezing and a snotty nose does not make for a fun day out. Once you have spent a happy hour trying to teach a stubborn one year old any animal noise other than meeow, and failed, there is still plenty to do here with an inflatable cow bouncy castle, indoor soft play area, tractors to ride, trampolines to bounce, fossils to uncover and a lovely cafe to eat cake and drink coffee in. It has to be said that a rainy day would not completely ruin a trip to Almond Valley. There is plenty to do under cover and even a big picnic barn to eat in, not to brag but we used it for shade because it was so hot.

They do lots of special activities, Christmas Fayres, Easter, all year round really. they have soft play for toddlers and a new bigger area for older kids. There are clear signposts which led me to the visitor centre and a cafe and probably more points of interests but by the time I got there and the time it would take to get back to any public transport in Linlithgow, I didn't have time to go any further which is disappointing and unless it was easier to get to by public transport, it's unlikely I'd return.

There are three daily shows where you can see the birds fly (sometimes right over your head) and learn more about a few of the owls. You even get a chance to hold an owl at the end of the show. It was quite cheap to 7 pounds maybe. Don't quote me on that but it was an Amazing value! My friend brought me here when I visted her and it was one of my favorite things about my two week trip to Ireland & Scotland. We liked it so much that when we had to leave to attend her son's Graduation from pre-school we returned again later that day (no additional cost to come back the same day). I managed to get a deal on wowcher for discounted entry but from what I seen at the admission desk it wasnt too expensive for normal prices. There are lots of enclosures with so many different breeds of owls to see. There is also an indoor demonstration area where staff bring out some of the owls and put on a flying show and tell you a little bit about each breed. There is an opportunity to hold an owl too at the end of the demonstration for a small fee which is brilliant and of course i was all over that! It was a bit drizzly when we were there but on a summer's day there are some benches where you can have a picnic. A small gift shop is just inside with lots of owl related pressies some of which is handmade. A must visit for the owl lover!

The staff are also on the wrong side of 18 working for pennies and are as enthusiastic as you would expect. You also have to go over 11,000 speedbumps to get there. On a warm day, there is also a 70% chance of being robbed. The indoor complex is decent, with good bowling, a pool hall and loads of arcade games. They also have a really good crazy golf. It's in Strathclyde Country Park which, on a good day, helps alot. Worth going to, but it's nothing worth taking your camera for.

We took my little boy and his cousin here on Sunday for the Classic Car Show and I must say I was…read morereally impressed. The entire area was used well and it was clearly a very popular day out! There were loads of cars, tram journeys on classic tram cars, pipe bands, characters for the kids... Loads of family fun! The queue for food was chaotic but I had packed a picnic just in case (always prepared!) There's a lovely little bit down by the canal that was very quiet and we sat here for lunch practically undisturbed and able to enjoy the view. My hubby is a massive car nut and he loved the different cars that were there. We spent a good amount of time wandering around while he inspected all the cars that took his fancy. My son loved the pipe bands and danced along to these quite the thing! He practically took a run at the minion character who was taking photos with the kids for charity and gave him a massive hug, which genuinely made my day! It was a lovely addition to the day. I'd love to come back here and get to spend a bit of time in the heritage museum. It's a great place to wander around and there's a huge park I'm sure my little one would love to explore. I feel like we've only really scratched the surface of this place and I can't wait to go back.
