Made us late for flight. Car never showed up and reception kept saying 7 more minutes.

You must avoid this company at all costs. I prepaid a journey from Stansted a week before our trip. I confirmed the booking via phone twice. On the day, the car was meant to arrive at 11am. I called at 11am to check, they said the driver will be with us in 10 mins. At 11.15, I called again. This time they said in fact there's no driver assigned and someone will be with us in 10 mins. At 11.30, I called again and as if none of the previous calls happened and they said the car will be with us in 10 mins! Around 11.40, of course no one showed and I had to call an Uber in order not to miss the flight. As I prepaid everything, they basically took the money and didn't send anyone. Their phone trick is to say someone will be with you in 10 mins so you wait and eventually call another cab not to miss your flight. One of the operators said I will be getting a refund but the others said they don't have any compensation policy even if they don't send a car. I am afraid my money went down the drain + an additional Uber cost + none the less the stress it caused on the day. read more

Hopeless car service and hopeless staff... Rang them for a school run today morning requested for taxi to booked for 8:35 and making it sure that there shouldn't be any delay..... Driver didn't turn up, so rang office staff connected me to driver he was speaking rubbish... Complain about his behaviour to member of staff as he was rude....... Great prices and a reliable service! I used Amber Cars to get me to a nightclub on NYE and then home again afterwards. Both times the fayer was 6 quid even after midnight and the cars were really prompt. I would recommend them if you need a private hire car and are in the area. read more

Absolutely appalling service from Amber cars this morning. Arranged a car for an airport run at 6.30 and agreed a quote in advance of £45 several times. When the driver shows up he says it will be £10 extra than the quote we agreed. When we called the office, we were treated with an incredibly rude response from a "manager" who blamed a trainee for the mistake, refused to refund the extra money and would not give us his name. Obviously as an airport run we had no choice but to agree to the extortion. Will not use Amber cars again and strongly recommend that in this competitive environment you choose another taxi company. read more

I'm really not happy with their service. Last week i was doing overnight shift due to some maintence work, and I booked a cab from them for 3:00 am. Normally when you book a cab, you receive a text message to confirm that it's been booked. So when I booked this cab, lady on the phone looked like half in sleep, she said my cab was booked. I did it at 11 pm. Now at 2:30 am I called them again , same lady picked up, I asked her if cab was booked since I didn't receive no text confirmation. She assured me it was booked. Now at 3am, when I was supposed to get a cab, I didn't get. I waited till 3:30 no cab arrived. I couldn't take a bus because in that area buses don't run that time. I called them back and one men received call this time, I asked him about my cab and he said " Sorry no cab has been booked with this name ". This made me really upset because I was standing on the road at midnight, I felt scared too because of drunk people roaming around. I requested the guy if he could now send another cab if they have made a mistake..... He came back saying to me " no cab is available in your area and you have to wait 45 mins to get a cab ". This really upset me. I disconnected the call. And tried to find another cab company over my phone using Internet... And somehow managed to get another cab from another company and reached home at 4:15 am. Only if one could imagine how it feels like to get this kind of service! I know mistakes happens as we all are human beings, but I did call up 2 times to confirm about cab booking. I would really appreciate if this company gets better people to work night shifts, who don't sleep while taking bookings! read more

Used Amber cars last night after a very nice dinner out. Driver started off driving the wrong way so I told him for the second time where we live. Only for him to pick up his phone and start to call his office while driving. I explain to him this is against the law he come back with SO .. He then pulls over phones the office to say it's a different address (we must have moved in the 2 mins from the walk to the cab). He then starts driving the long way to our address and then charges us more than we normally pay. Won't be using Amber again. read more

I had a flight to catch this morning. So, I booked an Amber taxi last night for 6 a.m. to make sure I will be in time prior to my flight. My booking was confirmed via a text last night. However, this morning, taxi did not turn up. I phoned the number (I have given on the text message) while I was waiting for it. After a while a person picked up. When I asked where he is, he almost shouted at me saying I am in South London, I can not come. I did not have time to argue with him and ask why you didnot let me know or so. But I was very annoyed by the person behaviour on the phone (so rude) and mostly disappointed by Amber taxi service. I shouldn't put any star up there. Awful, cab booking from Thamesmead to Heathrow. Went through central London, would have missed flight. Got out in Victoria and was still charged 40 pounds. Got shuttle instead. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY unless you are desperate. read more

DONT EVER GO WITH CAB SERVICE. THEY ARE THIEVES. So today I booked a cab at 7am for 8:15 to get my daughter to school and I payed via the app on my card. At 8:15 I asked where the cab was and she said he was gonna be 15 mins late. Whatever bit inconvenient but whatever traffic is traffic. 8:40 the cab turned up. I was in the cab on my way to the school and I checked my bank and the £9 had been taken from my account. Then off a sudden the cab driver got a message saying the Fare hadn't been payed. The cab driver then rang the office and he said that I had cancelled the cab at 8:45am so the payment was sent back. Which it wasn't at all. I was in the cab and I never even rang them to cancel so they lied. Then when I rang the office the manger called me a liar saying I called to cancel (remember I'm in the cab by now almost at the school) I argued that I bet cancelled and yet the money was still taken from my account. He then told the cab driver that I had to pay him cash and was soooo rude to me and kept hanging up on my calls. I have no received my refund from my card payment and yet I still had to pay the £9 in cash otherwise the cab driver would have drove me back home. Bear in mind I was already 20 minutes later because the office made this cab driver late. The staff are rude and incompetent and don't care about customer values at all. They're always late. To call me a liar as well and when I asked what time and number was used to cancel they couldn't tell me at all. They've taken my £9 and kept it for themselves. We have used Amber cars for some years for airport pickups, despite the predictable routine of lost drivers having to drive around to find us, rather than suggest a place in advance. But tonight, after travelling for 26 hours, booking a car and paying for it two weeks in advance, and having to wait over half an hour for the car to show we are letting the company go. The latetness perhaps we could overlook, but having to pay a carpark fee because the driver could not simply swing by and pick us up from arrivals, as in the past, was a discourtesy too far. However, this was all trumped by the man at Amber's office who shouted and ranted at us when we complained. Well done mate - you have lost your company a customer. read more

When I booked the cab I did say we were bringing our cats in their carriers. The lady said it was fine. When the driver picks us up the first thing he does is just sitting in his car starring at us! NO hello or anything. I go to the car and ask him if this is our car. As he just nods and doesn't say anything I suspect he doesn't like cats. I ask him if it's a problem. NO REPLY! I then tell him that we did tell you that we had the three cats with us when we booked the cab. NO REPLY! I then asked him if it was still a problem. NO REPLY! I then asked him if he preferred us to call somebody else. Now I got a simple reply. "It's ok"... We asked him if he preferred us to put the cats in the back or on the seats. NO REPLY! I then put them on the seats next to me. I again asked him if it was ok. NO REPLY! He drove us to our destination. The only thing he said to us when he dropped us off were "5 pounds". We gave him the money and went out of the car. He then went to the back seats and started to brush them off. NO cat hair were on the seats!!!!! At this point I am sure he just did it to be difficult. I would NOT recommend this company to anybody! Especially NOT Pet owners. I am outraged by the lack of service and the lack of respect from this driver. At least just reply when I'm talking to you... Seeing the other reviews I don't even understand that this company is still in business. read more

I have used Amber to take my son to and from school five days a week for the last four years. During this time I have found them in my opinion to be amongst the worst cab service in the Woolwich and Plumstead area. Majority of their controllers are very very rude and, the cabs that are booked in the mornings between 7-8 a.m. are never on time, even when ordered a day in advance. my son is doing his mock GCSE'S so his school have asked that he should get to school by 8.15 a.m. everyday this week. I booked the cab for 7.55 a.m. so that he can get to school on time, the cab arrived at 8.06.a.m and then the driver informed me that he was just given the job. As you can imagine I was really upset,so I went ahead and called the cab office to try and make sure this doesn't happen again the next day but instead, I got through to a male controller who went ahead to inform me that just because I ordered a cab for 7.55 a.m doesn't mean that it'll come on time because the driver could be stuck in traffic or have a flat tyre but they would try and make it nearest to the time (even though I live a three minute walk to and from the cab office) and that there is no cab office in England that, can guarantee a customer that they will be at the job for 7.55 and be there at 7.55 its always the closest time to the pick up booking. When the cab is running late and I call the controller, I'm informed that I don't need to keep calling because the cab is on its way will pick me up its just round the corner. I have used this cab office loyally twice a day, five days a week for the last four years and I through experience, have found them to be completely unprofessional and undependable every way shape or form and I would have rated them half a star but as this option isn't available,I'll award them one star. read more
