This place is legit. After a day of ambulating the York wall, go here. Great atmosphere, comfortable seating and relaxing music. The passion fruit mojito was a revelation. My wife loved her white wine. Chorizo y Patatas was so good we ordered a second. AFTER we had eaten the rest of our meal. Everything was delicious. The food was good and well priced. Service was OK but slow. we enjoyed the ambience and it wasn't too loud.

We had never had tapas before, but the staff here was fantastic, guiding us and offering useful recommendations all the while. I won't list everything we tried, but my favorites were queso de cabra (soft, warm goat cheese with a divine cloud in a crisp shell) and gambas al ajillo (prawns in garlic oil served with pillowy focaccia). Our b&b had a deal with Ambiente that earned us a free bottle of Tio Pepe sherry, which was good, rather like white wine. But I had never had quality sherry before and was left curious for more. Emma, our server, pointed me towards their No. 7 sherry flight since I asked about sweet sherry. WOW. This blew my mind. I really enjoyed the variety and number of vegetarian options. The portions were a good size. I got the lunch special which is only valid on weekdays. It's three dishes for 10.45 GBP. It was very filling. I got the vegetable paella, patatas bravas and black bean fritter. The paella didn't have as much spice as the ones that I've had in Spain but it was delicious. This is a great place to catch up with a friend or even a date night. Only complaint is that service was a little slow. read more

After spending the weekend for a Vintage festival we decided to grab some dinner before hitting the train. A few places I knew had closed so after settling on tapas this was one of first to pop up. It's about 17minutes from​ the train station. When we entered on the Sunday it was quite busy. We were greeted swiftly and asked to wait 5 minutes at a barrel shaped table before being seated. This place was huge! With tables that looked like they had been rustically cut up by a tree surgeon, several entire slivers of polished trunk and benches lay in rows for large groups where smaller tables were dotted around the windows. Taking a window seat we were asked what we would like to drink immediately. Caught off guard I chose the recommended gin and my friend a ginger and whiskey. The waiter promised that if the ginger was not fiery enough we could have it for free! The menu contained the usual tapas food, croquettes, prawns, octopus, salads, meats, other fish, bread and oil and paella. The waiter recommended 3 plates each which cost between £5-7. We decided on the cheese and ham croquettes, octopus and potatoes, spicy halibut in batter, pork belly, prawns in garlic, potatoes bravas, and fried chicken. Everything came out at a good pace and every dish was well presented and tasty especially with a glass of red wine! The best dish had to be the pork belly the weakest the halibut..it lacked seasoning. The best value for money was the octopus. Overall the service was good, lovely ambiance, reasonably priced and good food! read more

Very welcoming, the staff are great and very helpful when it comes to deciding how many tapas dishes will be enough between two. I was visiting York Minster with my French colleague during the recent business trip to U.K. Our English colleague highly recommended that we should the histrionic walled city of York, which I later learned it was founded by ancient Romans When we arrived, it was too dark to view the true beauty of this 13th century Gothic cathedral. There are so many shops, bars and restaurants around the cathedral. I found this tapas place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. We ordered Tapas for two and a bottle of Rojas. The selection came with Chorizo patatas, Albondigas (meatballs), Paella de mariscos, Champinones (mushrooms), Calamares Fritos, Patatas bravas and Pan (Focaccia breads). We went here as a family of five on a rainy Tuesday afternoon. The waiter was very friendly, even giving us recommendations on where to go on our visit to London. The food was outstanding. After a day spent visiting the beautiful city of York we decided to treat ourselves with a local speciality: Tapas ;-) We didn't regret our choice! Food was excellent! Probably one of the best tapas place I ever tried! we got the tapas introduction which was a mix of 7 different tapas for less than £30. All of them were delicious and for the price quantity was generous! it included the usual tapas that you can find everywhere but with one their twist, for instance the chorizo was cooked in cherry wine and sugar instead of wine only. The service (only Spanish waiters) was also perfect. The only issue I have is that next time I'll be very tempted to go back there instead of trying one of York real speciality! read more

Tapas! What more is there to say? This is the original location & a cozier venue, quiet & pleasant. Food was Well prepared, well presented, & very good. Whilst visiting York, we passed this Tapas bar and saw that they offered paella. I love a good paella so we thought we would go in for dinner. As it was Saturday night the restaurant looked quite busy. When we got inside one of the staff greeted us and told us that they were fully booked. Thankfully he managed to get us a table in the front bar area as he noticed two of his customers were ready to leave. He handed us the menu and as I mentioned we wanted paella so he put the order in as it takes 30-40 minutes to cook. The service was friendly and the paella was tasty and well priced. I am a self proclaimed Tapas snob, Having spent time in Spain and enjoying some of the best quality tapas anywhere else I have travelled. I was initially impressed by the menu choice but rapidly let down by the service and quality of food on offer here. Very understaffed meaning people were being made to wait to get food ordered. When we did get seated we were given the choice of sitting in the slightly uncomfortable bar area where we could take advantage of their meal deal or in the main restaurant and only have the choice of the main menu. This seems like a false economy and a potential way of loosing lots of custom. Next up was when we were told that the menu was out of date and the item Emma was going to order had been taken off. I ordered the staple of Patatas Bravas, and a slow cooked pork belly dish, Emma ordered the black bean fritters, Now I was surprised by the quality of the dishes being served it seemed like the food was being cooked by somebody who had been told about Spanish Tapas but never actually experienced it. The potatoes in the patatas bravas were inconsistently cut, too small and badly seasoned. The sauce was just not right at all. The pork belly had a massive portion but was very fatty and hadn't been cooked long enough to allow the meat to render down enough. they could have been better seasoned and presented with more finesse. It is a hard place to review as the service was nice when it was actually present but the food really needs some work. read more

I would say 3 tapas per person are more than sufficient, but also depends on what you pick. The croquettes are amazing and a must have. The shrimps and serrano ham was delicious too. Close to the inner city walls, so it wasn't as packed on the busy graduation weekend I was there, but well worth wandering off some of the more popular streets. Really great Spanish and Portuguese wine list. I absolutely loved the mussels (mejillones al pimenton) and the goat cheese/sweet potato fritters (bunuelo de batata y queso). Unfortunately this place was a little disappointing. We were looking forward to tapas after a week of English pub meals but it fell well short of the mark. A couple of dishes were OK but the overall impression was that the chef either didn't have great knowledge of Spanish cuisine or was just not a very good chef! The front of house staff were really good and eager to please and the place itself is nice enough but none of that can make up for ordinary food. My three star rating is an average of 4 for service and 2 for food. read more

Completely disappointing! Their Sangria was nowhere near what real Sangria tastes like. It was like drinking sprite soda pop with very little alcohol. The food was below average. More like pub style food than restaurant quality. We didn't have a reservation so we sat in the front of house where we were forgotten and the chairs are so uncomfortable, we ended up standing up to eat. Will never go to this place again and definitely do not recommend anyone going here. read more
