Paid the $100 consultation fee in July 2024 for a simple matter concerning a family trust. Was told it would be completed within a month or so. Periodically called/emailed or dropped by the office to get updates. Always told by the office manager "she's so busy, but working on it". Never once got any sort of response from the attorney herself. After the last excuse, we picked up the trust paperwork (of which nothing had been done) almost a year later in June of 2025. Absolute no integrity! Takes your time doesn't care that you're drowning in debt because they're coming after you and garnishing your wages wrongfully for child support this whole time I hired her a year ago put $5,000 down now they say I owe more retainer fee or $150 payment when she hasn't done anything. I communicate with them regularly and be on top of them to try to get them to do their job and I'm treated like crap by Shannon. The office manager, like I'm putting them out. I feel like I have to walk on glass and tiptoe around them just to get them to do their job and even then they're not doing their job My wages have been garnished and they don't care they're just letting it sit while my debt builds up and hardship is created from a child support garnishment that should have never happened. They didn't even fight for my money back when they took over six grand. Creating bankruptcy and hardship now because she's not done her job. Sits on it like you don't even matter. Extremely frustrated, I'm an extremely professional person that's only trying to survive in this world of judicial crime of legal thievery! What has happened to me is completely wrong I'm a good mother that's only fought for her children and the judicial system has failed my family and so has my attorney! I will say that my experience with this attorney has been a true example of lazy incompetence at its finest. Debra Amens was NEVER prepared for the hearings, She would call me on the morning of and in a hurry to get something, anything completed prior to whatever we were attending. She filed EVERY LAST DOCUMENT LATE and I mean, literally, MONTHS late. She was supposed to have my divorce decree done by the end of January 2023. It was not filed until June 27, 2023. I caught her lying to me throughout the case regarding why things weren't getting done. She was supposed to have filed a Financial Restraining Order but did not get that done in a timely manner, enabling my ex-husband to destroy a successful 20 year old business. By the time this attorney got done with me (and she was MY attorney), there was nothing left of the family business. Run fast and far from this woman. I know that for every 10 review online 9 of them will be negative. People are always fast to fire off with anger instead of gratitude. So I'm spreading positivity! Amens law was so good to me. I knew going into my legal battle it was dim. My police report was pretty self-incriminating. And I had actually done most of the things in it that I was charged with. The attorney there Debra was very kind and not judgmental. She just wanted to help. She got the charges dropped that I did not do. She help shorten sentences of the rest. I was very please with all the help in a moment of my life that seemed so bleak and hopeless. read more
