so first things off, i went in for a septum piercing. everything was fine he explained the whole process and when he clamped my nose and starting putting the needle through he dropped the needle. the guy wouldn't stop moving so fast instead of taking his time with things. the needle went through and dropped started making my nose bleed a lot. following up he tried again and apologized for that happening and said that's never happened before. he clamped it without checking to see if it straight. i even asked him are you sure it's clamped right and said he's got it don't worry. so i let him pierce me again. i look in the mirror and the septum is very crooked. i'm not pleased abt this. he took my septum out i got my money back. next time when something happens like that make sure u check to see if the piercing is centered. i will not be coming back here. and maybe slow down ur pace a bit if u messed up the first time read more

I absolutely love Dave. Having previously had two tattoos done in Kent County, it was reassuring to see how close he is in relation to the University of Delaware (and came highly recommended). I got my bottom navel pierced there as well as four tattoos all in Fall 2013. I was tatted by a guest artist from Jersey who was MIA after working with me, but Dave did my last two tats, and did a free shading to account for the flighty artist. I highly recommend him. This is a review based off of a piercing experience. Dave pierced my girlfriends belly button. The overall experience was filled with un-knowlagable and egotistical arrogance. Everything was fine up untill the piercing was in. My girlfriend noticed the bar was way to small and there was a lot of pressure on the top and bottom ball. Common sense and other personal experience tells you you would need some room to comfortably heal. She mentioned this to him immediately and he replied with a irrelevant cause for the issue "no its because the balls are big and make it look small". To make a Long story short the top ball because it was the path of least resistance started to recess into her piercing's canal and began to infect. We went to get a second opinion and they immediately suggested the proper bar size and swapped it out for no charge. Needless to say we will not be returning. read more

From my experiences with the owner and one of the main artists at American Art Tattoo, I believe this is the absolute best and most reasonable shop in the New Castle area! Dave (owner) and Cloud (the artist that designed and completed my tattoo) are some of the most personable, friendly, considerate, professional, experienced, reliable, and reasonable people I have ever come in contact with in the Tattoo/ Body Art industry. They are quite flexible with appointment dates, and often (during the work week) are available for extremely high quality walk in "appointments". The pricing was beyond reasonable, and they were very helpful and charismatic in discussing the vision I had in mind, and they were eager and willing to do everything they could to make this vision come to life for me. I genuinely believe I could not have imagined a more impressive and dedicated duo of artists and professionals to create and execute the vision that I desired before I even stepped foot in the shop. Dave is an extremely personable, good-humored, experienced, knowledgable, professional and reasonable owner. Although he did not draw or ink my tattoo himself, he was always there to share advise, discussion, and his overall plethora of experience throughout the whole process. He runs his shop very efficiently, and he keeps it extremely clean and orderly (in addition to some very cool and inviting decor)! He was very fair with pricing and scheduling appointment dates, as I got my tattoo over about a period of a month (including brainstorming, designing, adjusting, tattooing, and touch-ups). The multi-talented artist who designed, adjusted, and inked my tattoo was Cloud. As her name may suggest, she was extremely light-hearted, uniquely creative, passion-driven, friendly, and always there when I desired her the most. Aside from the physical art work she designed and created, she was extremely flexible and easy to work with; always answering my calls at practically a moments notice, and always willing to offer me appointments and times that were ideal for my busy schedule. In terms of her literal artwork, she understood and supplemented the exact vision that I described to her from day one. Her sketches absolutely blew me away, and she was always eager and willing to adjust them to fit the exact specifications of how I wanted the drawing to look on my body. The tattoo itself took about 4 hours, and went smoother than I could have imagined; she never needed a break if I did not. The final product of her hard work exceeded any and all feasible expectations I had for the fruition of the vision I had years before I walked into American Art Tattoo. When I first explained for her the vision I had for a 6 inch pine tree on my left calf, her exact words were "Yes! I absolutely love realism, it is surely one of my favorite types of tattoo designs!", my excitement nearly surpassed the true connection that we made as we saw eye to eye on my vision. Needless to say I could not have been, and still could not be happier and more entirely satisfied with the artwork she created and completed for me, and due to the price and intricacy she even offered to give me free touch ups . Cloud overall is a contagiously sweet, charismatic, determined, hard working, motivated, kind-spirited, and truly talented artist. I would recommend Cloud, and American Art Tattoo to every and anyone I know that is looking to get a tattoo in Delaware, or even the tri-state area; for my experiences with this artist, owner, and tattoo parlor could not have been more positive.
