Honestly, I'm glad that my car service at Mavis took a little longer than expected on this Saturday. I planned on going to get a pedicure but honestly didn't realize that this nail salon was in the shopping center near by until I decided to take a walk. I called before I went in since it was early Saturday afternoon and usually shops are very busy. Considering the service that I received I am surprised it was not busy. I know that there are numerous salons in the area that have the "fancy" atmosphere at similar if not more expensive prices, I prefer a more local and personal experience compared to the appearance of such. The shop was clean, my nail technician he was extremely nice on the phone and also while completing my service (I love pleasant energy that makes me smile/ laugh and he certainly did that). I felt like I had the attention and time spent to provide me with great spa pedicure; at many of the other salons depending on the number of clients it can determine how much time and care is given to you. I appreciated the reminder that I was there to relax while getting some self care and honestly that was also what the atmosphere was giving. I don't live too far in the Pike Creek area and I think this may be my new go to spot. I would certainly recommend trying! I know I should have taken a better picture but honestly I was just trying to wake myself and my feet up after that 25 minute massage! read more

Great salon! I have visited many salons in Pike Creek/Hockessin area for a really good dip powder set. A friend suggested AK and I am so glad i tried it! Lillian was very meticulous with my nails from making sure length was even on all nails and shape was how I liked it. The dip is not thick on my nails. Not impressed.... I paid $35 for mani/pedi which I could have easily done myself at home. The gentleman who did my nails, even though he was really nice, basically painted over my cuticles. In his defense, he did try to cut the cuticles away, but it felt he was just yanking at them. He was also using a file and scrubbing block that wasn't new....I really hope it didn't come with some fungus....I should have said something but I was speechless. read more

I usually have an ok experience here I get my nails done every two weeks so the experience I received this morning was taken by surprise. There is one employee there that plays around ALL the time the jokes get old very quickly. I told this man several times that I would need jewels/rhinestones for my nails.. he says "no." I laugh it off bc again, he jokes around all the time (it's never really that funny) once finished painting he goes in the back and comes back with a warm towel. I said for the final time, "I would like jewels." He caught an attitude and it was bad enough for me to feel the vibe that he didn't want to do all of that. The jewels spilled out on the table that's how hard he opened the case in what seemed like frustration. I told him that it was fine I don't want them anymore due to wanting him not to do anything he doesn't want to and I left that nail shop without everything I wanted for myself. I spend way too much money in there every two weeks to not get a proper experience every single time I go. Next time I will make sure I schedule appointments or find another shop to go to. read more

Wasnt a good visit didnt like it all charged me for ¨long shaped¨ when they are really short as like i never got my acrylics done. Also my nails hurt alot could barely do anything. Very upsetting experience. A young male pushed several times to pick a higher price service. I went for a simple French pedicure $18 and a gel manicure $25 and ended paying $78 because he did not understand?! that I wanted the simple pedicure (it is winter!) and assumed I wanted the most expensive one. I did not see other people pushing people! I told him I will never come back, and recommended to listen the CLIENTS!!!! We are the ones keeping little businesses open. hated my nails. the girl seemed to be in a rush and when using the drill was not very neat, and was hurting my cuticles. the paint did not fully dry either so my paint is all messed up. the prices were out the roof for the job they did. my nails were so short, and when i asked to go a little longer she refused. she kept talking to other workers, and kept getting distracted. also while putting on the little gem/rinestone she said "this will not stay on so be careful"... the workers kept horseplaying while trying to do nails and the customer getting her nails done next to me kept telling the man she did not like the nails and he was doing it wrong. all he did was laugh and kept going when she was obviously not having it.
