I just returned from the shop. Showed Eric my stamps, and he gave me some info on them. None were worth a hoot, and so he did not offer to buy them. I do trust his opinion of things. He was friendly and knowledgeable about the collectibles market overall. I mentioned to him items that I had at home and he gave me his honest opinion about what had value, and what did not. I spent pretty much time picking his brain and I didn't feel rushed at all. I may bring some coins in next time because I feel he'll be honest in his evaluation, and I think he'll want to purchase some of them. I have been going to them for 30 plus years and must say they are the best on Long Island. They have a good selection and if you don't see what you want they either have it in the back or will take your number and actively search for it. Have tried other dealers and nobody beats Rich or his son Eric. They are honest almost to a fault in that they always do the right thing. I have watched them with other customers that they could have made a little extra money for themselves and yet were honest and paid top dollar, even when they could have not. Rich would rather have a sterling reputation rather than make an extra dollar. I have both bought and sold and their advice has always been spot on. I have even sent people to him without me going and he has done right by them.They have gone out of their way and got me a coin and held onto it until i could come in, without so much of a thought, now that's a coin dealer. Family owned and honest, all you could ask for in a coin dealer. I have also gone back and had coins graded that i bought from them 25 years ago, high end coins that have come back one to two grades higher than what i purchased them for. one coin , a morgan i bought in 1991 at ms63 for 70 dollars. Had it graded and it came back ms65 and in 2017 and worth 650. Not a bad return on investment.
