Day 1 of assisting my dad and his wife with their financial troubles. I did some digging in regards to a reputable company that would help them, and more importantly help them through the process and be kind. Well this is the place and Kyle was their representative! Kyle was absolutely pleasant, easy to understand, answered all questions and was thorough with understanding their needs. No one wants to hear what they've done wrong, and none of that was heard today, only the facts, and here is what we are going to do going forward and here are some solutions, let's pick the best one for you. Kyle was so good to them, he stayed on the phone and walked them through every detail and the steps needed to take action starting today to prepare for the payment program. My dad and his wife got into this mess because they were helping her kids, and her kids continued to accept the help thinking they were a bank and that this wasn't negatively impacting them. Please know that in order to help others, no matter how good your heart is, that you have to be in a good place yourself first. Learn to say NO, don't take on additional responsibilities of others, when you know your own situation is a delicate mix of one wrong thing away from being in this situation. I feel like I can breathe again. I was broke broke. One day I was budgeting, sitting cross legged at home. I looked down and realized that there was a hole in my shoe and the creeping horror dawned on me that I couldn't afford to replace my only pair of sneakers. ACCC was a hard choice to make, it meant admitting defeat. Allowing myself to recognize that I couldn't just handle this debt on my own. I spent an hour on the phone that day, laying out my whole budget. Here's some things I couldn't factor in at all: haircuts, vet visits for my cat, car repairs, a savings fund, let alone a vacation. The kind man on the phone told me that it's okay, he's been there before, and since I'm in a pretty dire situation - less than a hundred dollars a month after all my bills and minimum payments were made - most of my creditors would allow my to enter their hardship program. (Not everyone gets this one) He brought my APRs down from 26.9% to (drumroll please)... 1.9%. He negotiated down my total payments by about $200 a month. I've been with the program for just 2 months (I chose to make an extra payment when I got my tax return, so 3 pay cycles), and I shit you not my credit score has jumped SIXTY POINTS. I have about 4 years on this plan before I am debt free, but I plan on putting my next tax returns towards the total so my personal goal is 2 years! Now, here are a few things you need to accept before you go with them: You will have to close the credit cards you put through the program. You can't use them anymore, and you can't have them back when you're done. They're dead, and good riddance. If you have other credit cards with no or low balance - great! Keep them but DO NOT USE THEM. You may be disqualified from the program if you take on any new unsecured credit. Pay them off and put them down. READ THAT AGAIN. You MUST be able to make the monthly payment on time, every time. If you need to set your first payment date farther out to get ahead, do it. It MIGHT take up to a month for your creditors to agree to the payment proposal. In that time you may have to continue paying them the difference. Do not let your account fall behind! You're almost there, you can do this. I'm telling everyone. My colleagues, my mom, my boyfriend - this company has probably saved my life. If you're looking for a sign, this is is. Do it. read more

Initially I posted a negative review but I have to admit that they have worked hard to address the issue. I hadn't expected much, honestly, thinking they were only concerned about getting another client. Could things have been handled better in the beginning? Sure. Did they admit that? Yes, they did. A company that didn't care wouldn't have gone to the lengths they have to make things right- of that, I'm sure. Initially it was helpful until I managed to pay some of the debt in the program off. Every time I called the number the people I needed to talk to were always in meetings or I was transferred back and forth between departments with the issue unresolved. Money is still being taken out each month to pay off debt that is paid off and I am not at all happy with this. No response from anyone after emailing and calling. I can cosign the previous positive reviews about how helpful this program is. I signed up for this program four years ago and am almost done paying off my cards. After the initial set-up phone call, I've had literally zero issues. I rated them only four stars because their client services department needs to improve their customer service skills. I contacted them today via email because I had a question about what to do when paying off my accounts. The client representative guy I corresponded with was so curt. It came across as cold and rude and was really off-putting. I would recommend using them but if you have a question, don't email them since you'll probably get the rude guy. I'd suggest calling and you'll get the friendlier reps. read more

Spoke with someone by the name of matt. We spoke for about a hour and a half. He helped me weigh my options based on my debt, income, and budget. If I were to enter their debt management program 2 of my main accounts that I feel like are holding be back (I need the most help with) the most wouldn't benefit from the program (which isn't ACCC's fault)... I decided bankruptcy would benefit me better being that I could hardly afford what would be my monthly payments in the program and the accounts that aren't in the program. Also, being that my income isn't very dependable I would hate to miss payments and be dropped from the program. Once I told him my decision on bankruptcy I do sense he was a bit disappointed, I recall him saying something along the lines of "people thinking they know best/everything, which is fine but they (ACCC) are here to help and guide". I don't know where that came from... but if anyone knows me and my capability is me. I appreciate his time helping me understand both options of debt management plans and bankruptcy but I just felt that his whole objective was to get me into a dmp, it's not what you want... it's what the client/want. read more

After a few bad choices and a few late payments on my part my greedy credit card company raised my interest rate to 29.99%. I was told by them that if I made my minimum payment on time for 6 months that they would be able to lower my interest rate to a manageable level. I did my part but they reneged and said that they were not discussing interest rates on request but my case would come up for review within the next 18 months. Hilarious. I did not feel like my hard work should go to pay for some NYC fat cat's caviar dinners so I immediately searched online for debt relief solutions. I did some research and called ACCC. They proposed and implemented a manageable payment program. I am happy to say that with ACCC's help I managed to completely pay off a debt that without their help I would still be getting "juiced" for. I would recommend ACCC to anyone who is struggling with an unreasonable interest rate from the greedy, blood sucking fat cats who's intention is to string you along and never ever let you out of debt. The big credit card companies are no better than a loan shark (they may not shoot you in the knee but their goals are the same). Thank you ACCC! read more

IF you don't trust yourself with money and money management, trust ACCC-they'll help you. We were nearing bankruptcy and didn't know where to turn or what to do. My husband and I have entirely different philosophies regarding managing money (or not!). BUT, we were so desperate this time that my husband was the catalyst in getting outside help.
