For 20+ years of living in South Florida, I wanted to get my open water diving certification but every year, life happens. Through friends I found Aquatic Ventures by way of an awesome foundation called Dive4Vets and there began my adventure. Setting up my schedule couldn't have been easier. The staff here are...well, are you old enough to remember Cheers? If you are, it felt like that-as if we've known each other for years. Walking into the shop, there's a great selection of gear but I'm here to learn and learn I did! Classroom and pool day was my first experience trying to breathe underwater which is an odd thing. The following day, we were off to Tigertail Lake not too far away. Note: even though it was close to 90, the water temp was 76! Be prepared. Final dives were again in Tigertail due to uncooperative weather. Through the staffs instruction, I feel confident and comfortable being underwater and they truly care about each individuals progress and success. Z even helped me on my 2nd day of certification in the open water. It was such a nice dive out in the reef. On my 3rd and final day I had Moe and Laura to help me with my final portion of certification. It was a great time as I got to see a turtle and tiny crab that dive. I corkscrew have had a much better experience at this place. Oh I forgot to mention, I drove in from Tampa as I was recommended this Dive Shop. I hope to come back and dive with them on a trip or two they have planned on the coming months.

I arrived to pick up an order and had to knock because the door was locked. The front desk employee, Candice, eventually let me in. She immediately asked for my order number in a very curt tone and snapped her fingers at me. She then told me the store was closed for a federal holiday (Juneteenth) but had still let me inside, which was confusing. When I politely mentioned that it was a relatively new federal holiday and that I wasn't aware of it and felt there are already enough federal holidays, she demanded that I leave the store. I asked her what I had said that was offensive and whether she was accusing me of racism. Instead of de-escalating or remaining professional, she escalated the situation, threatened to call the police, and said the matter would be taken further. Another customer who was present also got involved and called my comment insensitive. This turned a simple order pickup into a hostile confrontation. I later spoke on the phone with someone named Kenneth who confirmed he is also Black. I expressed my disappointment and asked for staff to maintain a more neutral and professional demeanor with long-term customers. As a longtime repeat customer, I expected basic professionalism. Instead, I was treated rudely and essentially kicked out over a calm comment about federal holidays. I've since learned I'm not the only customer who has experienced similar treatment from this employee. Dive Gear Express needs to address this issue with their front desk staff. This kind of interaction alienates loyal customers and reflects poorly on the business. I will be taking my future business elsewhere unless there is clear improvement in customer service standards.

There isn't much to look at, just a small office with worker cubicles and a small ordering kiosk. Basically you order on-line via the kiosk, and they'll bring out your order. I know at least one other dive shop that uses this retail ordering kiosk model in Southern California. But you can ask them questions, so it's always beneficial to talk to experts before you buy. It's a diver's candy store! I've picked up two complete sets of backplates/wings (my treat to myself with the Covid stimulus money) from Dive Gear Express and have been very happy with them for several years. As it's a $200 minimum order for free shipping an order to Hawaii, a retail pick up option is great! Great gear, competitive prices. I'm very happy with Dive Gear Express, I'll continue to patronize them for my specialized scuba needs! Will repeat and highly recommend!

Paula showed me everything I needed to know about diving. We went to the pool first and she was amazing in teaching me all the safety techniques in diving. Then we went to the shore dive and that was spectacular, she was very helpful and patient with me in showing me the proper techniques in diving in the ocean. Then 25 minutes into the dive and I got see sick really bad. She did everything in her power to make sure I made it to the shore safe. She went above and beyond to even make sure I made it home safe by driving me home in my car and taking Uber back to Force-E. She did not have to do all of that and I am so appreciative of her. Thank you, Paula. I am looking forward to my next dive session. Paula deserves recognition for being an outstanding dive instructor and a very kind person. I will definitely go to Force-E for all my scuba needs.

We were on a bit of a time constraint to get certified and Rob worked with us to get it done as quickly and efficiently as possible. Our tour guides gave us instructions on land before we got into the water. They said we could…read morechoose to inflate our life vests, but if we wanted to dive we should leave them as is. They told us we'd go into the water at chest height and put the fins on, but it was more like neck height, and because none of us had inflated or learned how to properly inflate our vests in the water while fighting the current, it was a very tough experience. They should have given us more instructions and time to get acclimated to the water, to inflate and deflate our life vests, then once we looked and all felt good, taken us further out. I also think they should have had a boogie board or something for us if people needed a break while out in the water. I would not recommend for very beginners or first time snorkelers. *update: due to a rude response on a different platform, the rate has been lowered

Absolutely unacceptable experience…read more I rented jet skis for myself and my two children, expecting a fun and safe outing. Within 20 minutes, our jet ski started blasting a constant low fuel alarm. I repeatedly asked staff what to do and was told to "just press a button," which did nothing. The loud, nonstop beeping continued, and my kids were genuinely scared and upset. Things only got worse from there. Our tour guide was pulled over by police, and we were left sitting in the water for about 15 minutes with zero explanation or guidance. No one checked on us or made sure we were okay. After that, instead of returning us, the guide stopped AGAIN to talk to more police. At that point, I said I wanted to go back. The entire experience felt disorganized, unsafe, and completely unprofessional. When I requested a refund, I was refused. Even worse, their follow-up response was dismissive and rude -- suggesting I was just "having a bad day" instead of taking any accountability for what happened. If you're considering this company, especially with children, I strongly recommend going elsewhere. Safety, communication, and customer service were clearly not a priority.
