Aweful experience. Barb did completly wrong my taxes, misspelled my name, wrong visa, wrong status and signed by a person she fired a month ago. When I asked her to rectify she said she has not time for rectification. When I asked her for my money back she told me she will sent a check to my house, after 3 weeks and emailed her asking for that missed check and she replied she has changed her mind and she will not pay me anything back. When I went personally to the office she closed her office room denying talking to me. She is the rudest and more unpolite person I have met in America. American Eagle Tax was recommended by someone who owns a business. We had some major changes to our taxes And needed to make mid year adjustments to withholdings and other proactive actions. Terrible first impression. Scheduled an appointment 3 weeks in advance. Arrived there and no one greeted me. I then went up to the receptionist and she said "just a minute" without looking at me. After she finished typing something, she asked what I needed. I told her I was there for my appointment and she said "Didn't we call you yesterday?" I said no and she said "oh the other receptionist was supposed to call you. This is just a drop off." I then asked if I could email everything instead because no one told me I needed to bring physical documents (I do everything on QuickBooks and was prepared to email tax returns from my phone) and she said "sure" and gave me a business card. I've used American Eagle for the last several years. Our original guy that did them has retired but due to great service in the past, I decided to keep using them. Big Mistake! I asked for an additional form to be submitted with my taxes this year. It was even typed and highlighted on my paperwork by the receptionist or tax preparer. Come to find out it was never filed. When I called, the receptionist put me on hold for a couple of minutes and then got back on to say the lady that prepared my taxes would give me a call back. Two days later, after no callback, I called the office only to get a voicemail saying that they are closed till May....today is April 20th! I will not be using American Eagle Tax to prepare and file my taxes anymore! read more

I've been using their service for more than 10 years. No more. Last year, they misread my papers, told me I had almost $300 coming to me. It turned out I OWED that amount. When I went back and asked them to compensate me somehow, they said they would give me a discount on the next year's tax preparation. That didn't help and I won't go back! read more

BEWARE! Do not do business with American Eagle Tax in Topeka. Barb figured and filed my taxes. Told me I owed over 16,000 in taxes because a rollover check was made out to me rather than the entity my money was being rolled over to. Simple research on my part determined that I had 60 days to roll over the check I received to the new entity. I then took all info I had taken to Barb to a very reputable person who refigured my taxes CORRECTLY and determined I should have received a REFUND of 3751.00 and he filed amended State and Federal returns. This person also dealt with the IRS on my behalf. I called Barb and explained the situation. She agreed that I was correct about the indirect rollover rule. I told her I felt my tax prep fee of 143.00 I paid her should be refunded to me. She told me she would have to think about it. I called her back four days later and asked if she had made a decision. She told me she was not going to refund my tax prep fee. then our conversation got disconnected. There was only one right thing for her to do in this situation and she chose not to do it.
