The product and installation were of the highest quality. I had used another vendor in the area initially to install shutters years ago. However, when my home was being power-washed the other year, the business dislodged one from the wall. Upon examination, it was found that the other company had installed the shutters into the siding (not the framing) and used decking screws. Mike came out and immediately identified the problem. They used the correct screws which were thicker and I watched them like a hawk. They aren't the cheapest, but are a great value, knowing it was done right. They did take a while to arrive, however, they did the first time I ordered as well. Communication could be improved, but from what I gather, the people who build the shutters also struggle with communication. But that is one point that could be better. But overall, this is a strong recommendation if you want the job done right. read more

We purchased the Hurricane panels for our home. I found American Hurricane Shutters very professional in our dealings with them, their estimator came out to the house twice to ensure accurate measurements, during that visit, the estimator thoroughly explained the scope of work and answered all of my questions. During the installation process, the work was on time, very professional, the installers explained to me how to install the panels, all the panels were numbered in proper order and those numbers corresponded to the numbers on the installed brackets. I did install all the panels a couple of months ago due to the hurricane that affected North Carolina, it took me about an hour and half, it was very easy. Excellent quality and professionally flawless installation. Only problem was the fact that the fixtures that need to be engaged in order to raise and lower the hurricane screens are immediately above rigid interior sun screen cornices, which are 9 feet above the floor, with the hurricane screen fixtures above them. As a result, attaching the socket for the long cranking rod to raise and lower the hurricane screes can only be accomplished by standing on a ladder, a nuisance and safety issue.
