Alright, it's the VFW in Jasper. On Saturday nights, they have live music and dance, which is…read moreusually attended by the older crowds. This isn't the lively hang-out for younin's looking for a good time. It is, however, a great place for food. Why? Well for one they have good fried chicken, which is a MUST in Jasper, IN. And two...they now have Rosie's, aka the Calumet's, pizza! The Calumet was sold and went downhill fast and closed. Locals like me were devastated, especially since we lost Monte's around the same time. But dry those tears! The lady who made the pizza for years and years and years at the Calumet knows Rosie's recipe and is now making it at the VFW! $1 off on the weekends! It's a simple place, and yes they do have a 'back room' for non-smokers and under-agers. But Rosie's Pizza! *swoon* OK I realized I have written this like a local for locals. Rosie's pizza (AKA the Calumet's pizza) is classic midwestern/southern Indiana pizza. It's a relatively thin, sturdy, yeast crust that is crunchy rather than crispy. It has to be to handle all the toppings, including their homemade sauce and anything else you want to pile on it. Get sausage, because it's the classic Dubois-County slightly spiced crumbly sausage, and they pile it on high with lots of cheese. This is my favorite pizza anywhere, probably because I grew up with it. But even within Dubois County, this is my *favorite* pizza. I give the pizza 5 stars, but the VFW doesn't have the ambiance, decor, or service to get 5 stars overall.

Judging from recent reviews and the experience I had, its like they don't even want to help you. When I addressed the situation with them about not recieving any contact, they informed me that they had called me. I leave honest reviews and I will be real: yes they did call, but the voicemails got lost with the plethora of banks, creditors, and telemarketers calling; however, thats all they said to me in the email, that they did call and nothing else. They didn't even bother to follow up with the question of whether or not I would require assistance still. Either their workers are swamped with requests or their claim to care for and value veterans is a misnomer. Either way, I wouldn't be surprised if the request case I made was closed already. I hope they read this review and make things right for the next guy or gal, AT THE VERY LEAST. Again, judging from recent reviews, I doubt that they will.

They informed me the committee denied me because they could not prove I was off work. They called the place I worked. They received two letters stating I was indeed off of work. What more do they possibly need to verify I was off work. As a Veteran they could have easily resolved this and helped me out in a time of great news. Instead they just wasted my time and ended up getting me upset for nothing. USA Cares about weeding out your ability to receive help financially from funds that are donated to them from people who actually care about veterans. Don't donate to this organization.

Vfw or veterans of foreign wars center located in the heritage creek neighborhood of Lousiville…read moreKentucky. For those unfamiliar with vfw Halls they are a place to foster camaraderie among United States veterans. Most of them like this one has a hall/space for events and also a bar like setup for the members. Me not being a veteran what brought my family here was a dance recital for my 3rd bron daughter. The hall itself was pretty large and spacious. Out front they had a giant tank which the kids and mw enjoyed checking out. I did not check out the bar area much as it was an nfl Sunday with games and we had the kiddos so there was a good crowd. The members made nice and gracious hosts. The recital itself was hard to see. There stage isn't elevated very high and the tables and chairs make it difficult to see unless you are sitting at the very front. Overall any vfw post is great to see and any support or place to gather for our veterans is a positive.
