Drayton Hall is beautiful and is filled with rich history of slave life and family heritage. It's…read moreworth it to take 1-2 hours out of your day to enjoy the property! The entrance fee is $32 dollars. It is $18 for ages 7-15, and ages 7 and under are free. You save $3 if you pay online. The extensive driveway and parking lot is not paved and was pretty bad for potholes last February. We arrived about 5 minutes after the 4:00 o'clock tour, and the staff were kind enough to take us to our tour group via a golf cart. If you want to see the inside of the plantation, you HAVE to take a guided tour. The guided tour lasts about 1-1.5 hours and is extremely detailed with many points of interest and knowledgeable tour guides. Parking may be an issue if busy, but there is an auxiliary lot so you should be alright. After your tour is complete, there are some small cottages to explore on your own, a gift shop, and a small museum. Out of all the things to do in Charleston, Drayton Hall should be towards the top of your list. We had a good time!

About 20 miles SE of Summerville and on the right bank of the Ashley River and the pretty Hwy 61 is located this Palladian style mansion that survived both the Revolutionary war and the Civil War and that means a lot when you consider that the Revolutionary War was won in South Carolina regardless of what some will say, you win some and you lose some. The tendency to conserve rather than to restore makes you use your imagination to see how this house must've been back in the early days. Some of the materials were imported from the old world like the heavy columns, quite an achievement considering today would require the use of heavy cranes so the use of labor and imagination directing a large number of people must've been a delicate task. Can't deny the fact that they acknowledge that enslaved people took an important roll in building and running this place, delicate subject but well recognized by the tour guide and the museum in site. The house is the focus of the 600 acre property that was in the hands of seven generations of the Drayton family, amazing structure considering there were no Palladian architects in the area back in 1738 when John Drayton bought the land and it took him 15 years to build. A lot a lot more can be said about this place but I am not a historian just simply recommend everyone to come and experience this place that will transport you in time and will make you appreciate history and legacy. Just wish money was no object to the conservation effort.

The parking is not on site. There were food trucks available as well as stands for drinks all for purchase. There were restrooms scattered throughout the complex. The complex itself was very clean as well including the restrooms. The staff were good about guiding you through the complex.

A company came during the game to ensure the trash was never overflowing, there were EPI security guards all around, police outside the complex and staff throughout. The only complaint I have is that the TV screen was smaller and farther away than the players on the field so it almost seemed pointless save for the graphics occasionally displayed. Family descendants still occupy the third floor! Some scenes from the Outer Banks Netflix show are filmed in the house. The porches are incredibly beautiful. Great views of the ocean. I do wish we could have seen more rooms. There were a total of about 7 rooms, plus staircase/foyer and the 2nd story porch on the tour. A very cool artifact that hangs on the wall...the South Carolina secession ordinance (of 100 that were originally printed in 1860). Definitely a good way to experience one of the mansions from that period.

We've always enjoyed Beerfest--it's one of those events we look forward to every year! Most of us…read morecan't wait for the moment tickets go on sale so we can snag our VIP passes. This year was by far the best VIP experience yet! The free appetizers, ice cream, and mixed drinks were such a nice touch, and the improved shade coverage made a huge difference. We also never had a problem finding a table, and the bathrooms (always one of the big reasons we go VIP) were as great as ever. We're so happy they got rid of the drink tickets this year--it felt much smoother and less wasteful. The variety of food trucks was excellent, with something for everyone. Our group has our favorite breweries we look for every year, and the variety of swag did not disappoint! It also seemed like they didn't run out of beer this year, which has been a common complaint in the past, so that was awesome. We also loved the big screen showing the football game--lots of people seemed to enjoy that too. Overall, this year's Beerfest VIP was the best yet. We're already counting down to next year! The only thing I think they should improve is the parking and directions for VIP entrance. We were asking the volunteers and each person told us something different as we were walking from the ride share drop off.

Every PCC-hosted charity event I've been to has been well-organized, and Beer Fest was no exception. With five rows of vendors and breweries, everyone found a new to them beer or brewery they liked. You receive a mug when you walk in and use it to walk around the aisles of breweries and sample. Most Charleston breweries were represented, but you could also try breweries from around South Carolina and a few North Carolina breweries. I saw tents with hard kombucha, ready-to-drink cocktails, ciders, seltzers, as well a Fall beer flavors (hello pumpkin or Oktoberfest styles). Sour beers are my favorite, and I found no shortage of them. The sour from Sumter Brewing Company was my favorite, along with the Ginger's Revenge alcoholic ginger beer. The lines move quickly, and the small pours of the drink were enough for me. I saw a few tents run out of certain beers about 4 hours into the event, but even when we left, you could still find plenty to drink. Beer Fest had at least 10 food trucks with everything from smash burgers to pierogis to boiled peanuts. Even the vendors were high quality. With the event in September, we bought several Christmas gifts AND the weather was cooler than a summer event, especially in Riverfront Park. The ground was a little soggy from rain earlier in the day, but we avoided the showers and storms. This was my first Charleston Beer Fest, but I would return again and recommend it for both locals and visitors- it's a one stop shop to try many breweries and even cuisines for a low cost and great cause.

Easy parking and caught the bus ride out to the event. Staff was helpful and friendly at the welcome tent. The rest of the day, we strolled around the golf course, taking in all the amazing cars. Several food trucks were on site to cure any hunger pangs. Cherry on top of the day when hubby got to meet and get autograph from Keith Martin, from Sports Car Market. Only 4 stars, as I thought they could've had more vendors and maybe some sort of seating. We will definitely return next year!

It looked like everyone had a great time that was running; and the weather was pretty much perfect for this time a year. Special shout out to all the Yelpers who ran and to the fireman that ran in full gear with American flag.

This was an exceptional event to be a part of! It really turned out to be much more of a…read morecelebration of everyone's hard fundraising efforts than an actual run. It felt under a mile which was great for me since I am not much of a runner. The weather turned out to be beautiful and so were the runners donning their bedroom best! Watching everyone run on the beach was quite a site! Charleston raised $28,000 and team yelp donated $2,600 to that effort! The organizers did a great job of making this an enjoyable event to participate in. When you checked in you received an Undie Run T shirt and a drawstring back pack with some goodies. If you raised at least $50 you received a pair of Undie run undies! At $150 you got the VIP bar... and at $500 an Undie run embroidered robe! Next year I'm aiming for the robe! They also had food for after the run, which was very much appreciated because we were hungry after. And for the skeptics that were reluctant to join the team... there were many in normal running gear and many in just their undies... all were welcome and no one was shunned for not stripping down.
