A home cooked comfort food, cold beer, and a nice cocktail type. Come play a game of pool or sing karaoke, but best of all, come meet a fellow service member. And I should know better than others that not all VFW's are the same or equal. Some have restaurant and bar inside, some are a building that's rented for events, and some just have a flag sitting out on a memorial. I have been for a long time what they call a member at large in California. That means I don't have any one post that I go to in particular. However I found 1 in the city of Beni shake California that's absolutely exquisite with wonderful people and lots of events throughout the year. The you're. This fits what I'm looking for in a group that is forward moving forward thinking. The last time I went they were having I believed the Memorial Day festivities it was wonderful with the barbecue and food people being happy and smiling and telling stories and surrounded by veterans of different wars and we all have a common thread which is our particular story is different but the reason we were there wasn't. I highly recommend this organization to all veterans of foreign wars.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 4103 is a local veterans service group. While they're part…read moreof the larger VFW organization, the SSF Post does a lot of volunteer work in the community, both in SSF and the greater Bay Area. Every year these guys host a Veterans Day Luncheon at the Palo Alto VA hospital for injured, hospitalized vets, they coordinate and largely fund a special day at the San Francisco Zoo for disabled and injured vets and their caregivers, they run essay contests in the local SSF schools that provide the winners with college scholarships, and they provide assistance to local National Guard and Reserve units that deploy. Overall, this is a great group of people who do a ton of hard work for our vets and the community.
