It is housed in a restored 1759 mill that is a one-room history treasure trove. Parking can be found down the street and many spots are free for 2 hours. This site offers a captivating glimpse into the rich history of this quaint Virginia town. The museum immerses visitors in the area's past through carefully curated exhibits and artifacts. From its origins as a milling community on the Occoquan River to its role in Virginia's industrial development, the museum showcases the evolution of Occoquan with insightful displays and artefacts. I was greeted by a very nice lady who was very knowledgeable about the town. The museum's collection includes period tools, photographs, and documents that vividly illustrate life in Occoquan across different eras. The ambiance is enhanced by the mill's original wooden beams and milling machinery, creating an authentic backdrop for learning. Entrance is free but donations are welcomed. There is a lot of information in the little building. If you are passionate about local history then this is definitely a must-see for you. Overall, whether you're a history enthusiast or simply curious about Occoquan's heritage, the Mill House Museum offers a memorable and educational experience that highlights the town's significance in Virginia's cultural landscape.

To start, the space is very cool. The art was unique and filled the walls. The performers were excellent. There was a range of performances from comedy, poetry, singing, rap. Its located on the second floor of one of the old Dupont townhouses with a nice open interior. While the space is small, if gives the works a more personal feel, which is nice compared to some of the other spaces that show modern art. The collection was featuring a Latin American artist names Rafael Gallardo while I was there, but the collection revolves monthly or seasonally, and there were a number of statues and other works as well. In general the style is more modern and Latin influenced, but when i checked the website the featured artist was a New Yorker. The real prize of the gallery though is the owner Barbara. The gallery grew out of her collection from her time as a banker in Latin America. She is a lot of fun to talk to and has a story about everything in the gallery. The visit was worth it to hear her stories alone. In fact its kinda like going to a friend's gallery instead of a business. Also adding to the friend's house aesthetic, you have to call ahead to get a showing outside of the first friday open house. well worth it

Found a very beautiful painting on the website but was a little bit too small (we wanted it in the living room). The gallery owner told us that we could customize with the artist to make a similar bigger painting, which was what we did. Received the painting after a few weeks and we are very satisfied with it!

Located across the street from the back side of the Capital One Arena, ring the bell to be let into the historic row house. Tickets cost $10 for non-teachers, etc. It gets you access to the museum and a helpful booklet about the museum in either English or German. The museum part is on the second floor in one large room. Walk every wall to read about the German immigrant experience in the U.S. and see artifacts centuries old. Every item is well marked and preserved. Restrooms are on the second floor.
