This is where you need to shop for new, athletic shoes and let me tell you why. Josh Tarr and team have a huge heart and good selection with knowledge to get you in shoe that's right for you. My parents were victims of the June 2015, Sleepy Hollow fire, losing everything. Word traveled fast of American Shoe Shop's Facebook post, "Friends and family of Wenatchee, if you lost a home to the fires last night, please stop in anytime and we will get you into shoes, sandals, socks, boots, etc.". We visited the new and expanded location, only a few doors to the right of the original. Approached by Josh, he asked what we were looking for. Explaining I was looking for technical, hiking boots with solid soles for protection from a work site, we mentioned the fires. He knew exactly what we needed and fit my father in a pair of mid-height Keens and my mother in a more casual but still rugged low top hiker, complete with summer socks. When we offered to pay, he refused, saying it was part of his business model to take care of the community. The least he could do. It was a moving moment to say the least. This is what a family community does for it's own. It's so easy to look for a wider selection and deep discount prices on line but I urge you to support local businesses when you can. And the American Shoe Shop should be one of them. They also offer shoe repair. Next time you're walking downtown, even if you don't need a pair, stop in and say thank you for supporting the community. This is what happens when you try to support a local business. Went in today to buy 2 pairs of new Keens. Not a lot of $ , probably about $350. Found the ones I wanted on display, but could not get a salesperson to even acknowledge my presence. Meanwhile, two different groups who came in well after me were greeted and helped immediately. I wasted 20 minutes trying to support a local store before walking out. This is the 2nd time this has happened to me here. I'll just buy off the internet. read more

I took a small leather purse in hopes that they would make a needed repair on the end of the zipper; even after explaining that the repair would not be easy because of poor workmanship in the original construction they said that they would try their best. I picked it up yesterday and they did a great job and charged me less than $10! What a great shop. I have purchased here before and I will give them more business in the future! read more

I have been a customer of the American Shoe Shop for quite sometime (5+ years) and I have never been disappointed with their selection or their friendly, down to earth service. I suggest this store to everyone I know especially in the winter months when the typical run of the mill snow boot just will not do. This is the only 'shoe store' in the Valley that carries Keen and other very high quality brands that are durable and practical for our climate. Took my boots in for a stretch and received them back with the right boot stretched so excessively that it is completely out of shape and the leather is stretched very thin. I returned to the store to ask if anything could be done and was helped (or not) by a young woman with a bad attitude who responded be rolling her eyes and shrugging. Brought in a pair of 30+ year old boots that had worn out soles and an unglued sole on one of them. The guys at the shop were honest with me and told me that the soles could not be replaced and explained why which I really appreciated. They told me the boots were done but I asked them to try to glue the sole back on so I could get a little more wear out of them. They said the wait would be three weeks or so. My boots were done the next week and looked great. No new soles but the sole and a big tear were glued without any visible signs. They only charged me $16. Will be coming back here to get my hiking boots resoled. read more

I LOVE American Shoe Shop... They are a great, locally owned business....they always have a great selection, and great sales! Occasionally, my husband and I have received some sub-par service, but that certainly is the exception. Not the rule. (Only once were we dissapointed that one of the 20-something male employees talking about having the munchies after smoking a bunch of pot...and we were not the only customers...it was not good) But like I said...definitely not the rule...I dont know, but I hope that guy doesn't work there anymore... lol I marked the price as "pricey" because to the average joe looking for a pair of New Balance sneakers, I'm sure it would be....but for what you are buying there, it is certainly NOT pricey...most definitely fair...and like I said, they are known to have some sales! read more

I called a man at the shop on Thursday, January 9th asking if he could retread my desert boots with something lighter and with better traction. He said he could and that he had lots of options. I drove from Ellensburg today, 10th of January to his shop where he shows me his 2 options. He said they were no better and the color didn't even come close to matching.
