It's the only cigar shop in the area that does not provide a discount for veterans; in fact, it's the only store in the DMV. The last straw was today. As I walked in to purchase my usual items, which generally cost me approximately $106 to $140, the worker was standing outside smoking. As I got out of my car, he hurried into the store. Another customer approached, and he allowed the other person to enter the humidor. He kept looking at me as I walked towards the back as if to stop me. I asked if there was a problem or if he was closing the area. He looked at a picture of a woman on the door and then back at me. It was then I understood. I explained that she was not me, but he still seemed concerned. I showed him my ID, but he still appeared uneasy. I was mortified that I was being accused of being a shoplifter. I looked nothing like the picture, except that we both are black, and my skin is much darker. I am also a registered patron. During all the months going in there, this has never been a problem. I have decided never to go back there. All my friends and family, including veterans, deserve better humiliation with no apology.

On my recent visit (11/26/25) I asked the guy for a receipt as I was making the purchase while he stared me down, having his hand on his mouth, as if I'd be unable to purchase a $60 vape. I used the wrong card and asked him to try again then he repeats "try again" commandingly. There's a difference between asking and commanding. I then ask him for a receipt while I try again with the right card, and he responds commandingly "Pay first, then I give receipt," while giving me those same judgmental looks prior as I'm paying. There was only one nice guy I can remember throughout my history of being a customer at this shop.
