On Friday I had 1.5 cubic yards delivered to my home & Joe was soooo professional & soooo nice! I recommend this company! 10 out of 10!

The concept of the business is good, especially when you are busy and needing to get projects done quickly. But you pay for it with very high prices. Dirt cheap is not in the vocabulary. The problem is with the service and it is not worth repeating.. Forcing the customer to pay a tip on top of the high price was unappreciated and annoying, and then when I mentioned it on their Facebook page, they lie and accuse me of not even being a customer, so I gave them a specific date the service took place ( and offered a copy of the invoice ) so they blocked me from their site to keep customers from learning how they do business... read more

Worst compost experience ever. Full of pokeweed, sandy and with no nutritional value for garden. We called them back and asked them to remove and refund, they refused. Now where our vegetable was going to be is a massive hill of poisonous, spreading pokeweed straight from their soil. I can't think of a worse experience I've had with a small local business! read more

If you ever need topsoil, American topsoil is the best in Johnson county in my opinion. From their front office, to the customer service and even the delivery man, Joe was one of the best experiences I've ever had with a topsoil company. Their prices are reasonable and their service is exceptional. I'll be using them for all my future lawn needs. read more

This is a great company to work with. They were supposed to come out on a Friday and when I had not seen anyone by 1pm I reached out to find out my order fell off their schedule. I said Saturday or Sunday was no problem, but they felt obligated to come Friday and made sure to get me in. I ordered the wheelbarrow service and highly recommend if you are getting 8+ yards like we needed. I was hesitant to spend the extra money, but in the end it saved me a ton of hours...and time is money! Don't forget to tip your driver as well...they are out in the heat busting their tails so we don't have too. read more

Good enough that I'm spending time writing a review of a topsoil company! We've used American Topsoil and their 'smart wheelbarrow' service for two years now. Most importantly, AT is fast and they communicate well about their delivery times. Delivering mulch isn't rocket science, but so many companies neglect to do basic stuff like tell you when they'll arrive, or call if they're running late. AT sells quality products and does what they say they'll do. The real winner here is the smart wheelbarrow delivery service. If you're having several Cubic yards delivered, but the ultimate destination for the mulch / soil / rock isn't immediately next to the drop site, give serious consideration to the smart wheelbarrow service. For one healthy person, moving several cubic yards is backbreaking work. Into the wheelbarrow, dump then spread. With AT's smart service, they'll dump the product into piles wherever you need them on your property. This can save hours and hours of time in the hot sun. The other advantage to this service is that it allows you to buy just as much product as you need within a half cu/yd vs guessing with online calculators. The only downside is that if your delivery is immediately after a big rain, the weight of the smart cart and mulch can leave some temporary divots and tracks in your lawn. However, you'd have these with your regular wb as well, so you just have to pick your poison. Good people delivering a good product with good service. read more

This company overcharges customers severely. My yard is right off a neighborhood road and I asked for dirt to be delivered to my backyard using this road since it's east access. The normal charge for drop off is $45 yet if you use their motored wheel barrel, which they use to get the dirt off the truck is $85. My area of need was literally right by the fence and road with a gate. Not even 5 feet from where they would park to do drop off. They still wanted to charge me $85 for the drop off which is highway robbery. I get it if they had to park around front and use the wheelbarrow to carry the dirt around to my backyard but it's literally right there off the road. They use it to get the dirt off the truck so why not just drive it 5 feet off the road into my garden area? Makes no sense. I think they like to overcharge their potential customers. Especially if you live in Johnson county. They target higher income areas and then try to upcharge them. I will go to Home Depot and buy the bags of dirt and save a ton of money. Just got back from driving all the way from Baldwin City to the Olathe location, Saturday, July 6th. Checked the hours online before I went, Open "8 am-5 pm Monday thru Saturday". When I got there at 2:30pm, the gate was open, sign said open 9AM-5PM. The Office/Trailer was unlocked. Went in, there was a guy sitting on his ass with his feet propped up, doing nothing. Told him I needed a bucket of dirt. He said "well, we're not really open today." I said "I checked online, it says you're open, the sign on your gate says your open,." He says, "Well, yeah.." and gives me a sh*t-eating grin. I told him I will never be back, and I won't. It takes a few strokes of the keys on a computer to update a website if you are closing for a day. They would apparently rather lose customers. I won't have any problems finding better service elsewhere. read more
