DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!! They took my cash deposit and never did the work. The owner David is a liar and avoids refunding my deposit. They are shady and greedy. You will regret doing any business with them. Go to Google to read all the reviews. All but one are from disgruntled patrons who were also cheated out of their money or the work was unsatisfactory. Great quality service and reasonable price. I had the leather on my Lexus redone for the front seats. Did an excellent job. They looked just like the original and the color matched perfect. Leary is a great guy I do mobile detailing and send people his way all the time. I only have had one person complain about how long it took him to get it done but usually he can get you in and out pretty fast. read more

Buckle your seatbelts, this is gonna be a long ride. Four months after giving this job to Leary and I am incredibly disappointed with his service and work. He originally reupholstered four dining chairs and did a fantastic job. I provided the fabric and he picked up and delivered the chairs in a timely manner. Several years later I decided to give them a facelift by painting the wood chairs white. Naturally, I thought to hire Leary again because of the excellent first time experience. Big mistake. Two months later he says the chairs are finally ready. I was shocked to receive them because they were painted black when I clearly requested painting white to match my dining table. I refused the chairs. No apology, no communication whatsoever. Two more months pass with many broken promises that "they will be ready next week" and I am a "priority." At one point I told him flat out I need the chairs, I am tired of sitting at the couch to eat every meal. He responded condescendingly, "let me play my small violin for you." I was surprised and offended by his comment. I refuse to be treated like a hysterical woman for simply wanting a job completed. My first impression of Leary was kind and personable, however that changed. Then, Leary stopped answering calls and did not return my phone calls and texts. His voicemail was full and texting became the only option. Yesterday I received the chairs after texting that I was prepared to take him to small claims court. When I called the next day to follow up Leary said they would deliver the same day. The chairs were indeed delivered the same day. I was presented with a bill that was higher than what I was originally quoted. Unfortunately I did not have it in writing as I trusted his verbal quote over the phone. At this point I was beyond frustrated and wanted to put the ordeal behind me. I paid the bill in full. Lesson learned, get everything in writing. Upon closer inspection I noticed drip marks on the arms of the chairs where they were touched up. Also, the upholstery is a different shade and lesser quality than what was originally on the chairs. It had been so long since I had seen the chairs that I did not notice the fabric change at first. A picture of the original chairs confirmed my suspicion. I am furious that the money I originally spent on fabric and reupholster charges went down the drain. The chairs are slightly tacky to the touch with a strong paint smell that could knock you over. I am wondering the quality of paint and fabric he used. I am concerned it could be harmful and am airing the chairs outside. Every time I look at the chairs I think about the hassle, lies, and lack of integrity. If this how Leary treats a "priority" return customer I shudder to think how he handles anyone else. I have more work that I will be taking elsewhere where I'm treated respectfully, competently, and without "small violin playing." read more

DO NOT DO IT, Summer of 2016, my 1964 Mercedes 320 SL was transported from Los Angeles, CA to American Upholstery located at 4970 N. 7th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85013 for interior reupholstering of the seats, carpet, and convertible soft top. During this same period my engine required some work, which was to be performed by the mechanics at Denver's Car Care, located at 4245 N. 7th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85013, approximately less than a mile south of AmUphol. At the time of delivery and acceptance of my vehicle, AmUphol informed me that there were vehicles ahead of mine to be completed before they could begin working on my vehicle. As I traveled back and forth from LA to PHX I maintained communications with both AmUphol and Denver's Car Care in regards to my vehicle's progress. AmUphol consistently told me that there were customers ahead of me in the queue every time I asked about the status of my car.In knowing this I would continue to ask this question repeatedly, until on June 2017, AmUphol finally provided me with new news that they would begin working on my vehicle. They told me they were ready to begin working on my vehicle upholstery, and that a deposit was required immediately. On July 1, 2017 I traveled to Phx and delivered a cash deposit of $2,000.00 to secure the work performance by AmUphol, with the remaining balance due upon completion of work. AmUphl owner David was present and witnessed the cash transaction performed. Later on July 21, 2017 Am Upy emailed the link of what the interior design would look like, and followed up with the estimate invoice of the work to be completed. I contacted AmUpy to provide my approval of the selected color for the work to begin. Each time I would travel to town I was informed by AmUphy that they were awaiting the arrival of the fabric. Eventually I was informed that the fabric had arrived and I was asked if I could stop in to see it on my next visit to Phx. Excited, I rushed and stopped in but was informed by AmUphl, that the fabric was there, but they could not locate it in the warehouse. Knowing that I traveled from LA to see it, I was asked to come back the next day. The next day I went to AmUphl and again I was informed they were not able to locate the fabric, even though they believed it was somewhere in the warehouse. They told me they would begin working on my vehicle once they found it. Then there was another time after this mishap, that they told me they may have to reorder the material because they still were unable to locate it. For over a year I was fed misleading (lies) information about the progress of my vehicle's reupholstery. To my surprise, on Jan 23, 2019 AmUpry Manager Leary was in attendance at my Uncle Dana Calvin's funeral services in Phx. While at the church, Am Mng Leary expressed how well he knew my uncle and my family and for me not to worry about the status of my car. He assured me he would see to it that my car would be taken care of.On April 26, 2019, I arrived at the shop and was informed by AmUphol Owner David that he did not know where my vehicle was and AmUpy Manager Leahy no longer works there. Angrily, over and over I questioned David of the whereabouts of my vehicle and was informed over and over that he did not know where my vehicle was. I continued to ask where my vehicle was and how he was going locate it. I asked him did he have insurance to cover my lost property. His response was he has attorneys on staff to handle situations of this nature. He expressed that he was prepared. I asked for his insurance and attorney information, which he refused to provide. I refused to leave the premises without getting some answers. He continued to say that he did not know where my vehicle was and provided no explanation or resolution. However, located in the rear of the shop outside were my 1964 Mercedes Benz parts, sitting in a pile fully exposed to any and all weather conditions. He then informed me that he would like for me to remove them. I expressed my dissatisfaction and suggested that he cover and protect my automobile parts. I observed rust accumulated on my parts Owner David continued by offering his to provide my $2,000 deposit and/or complete the work as contracted. Additionally, David requested that I have my cousin, who recommended AmUphl to me, come see him. On May 22, 2019, en route to AmUphry, I contacted the Phx Police Dept to meet me there. When I arrived, I noticed the Owner David partially draped a tarp over my automobile parts, that were located in the back of his shop. Officer Stocfton #8398 filed an Incident Report. He informed me that I would need to handle this dispute through the Court system. Which I will be seeing David in court. WARNING...DO NOT DO IT read more

It is difficult for me to write this review because I really though I had found a good upholstery shop. They did the sofa and bench seats in our hybrid RV and I was pleased with the job. Then I took the canvas for one of the drop down beds in to replace the J-hook. He said he could do it. I called back after a couple of weeks to see how it was going and he said he was having trouble finding the J-hook. He was going to check an RV place and get back to me. He never did and I called back a week later. He said there were some other places he would check and he would call me back that afternoon. Again, no call. A week later I called but he didn't answer (during business hours) so I left a message. When he hadn't called me in a week I called again. No answer. I left another message. No call back 5 days later. I texted him. No response. I called again, and left a message saying that it was fine if he couldn't find the J-hook, just please call me back. No return call. A few days later I drove over to see what was going on. He hadn't found the J-hook. When I asked him why he hadn't answered or returned my calls, he said he didn't want to be the bearer of bad news. What?!? Better to just leave me hanging? I took the canvas back. He had cut a piece of the J-hook off as a sample. When I asked for that he said it was at the suppliers. I told him that if he would get it back so I could take it around to find a match I wouldn't write a review. Two weeks later, no sample. I won't work with someone who treats me like that. read more
