We had this bed for a number of years. We bought the bed because it was solidly built, and it said that was all leather. In reality, the bed frame was bonded leather that, with time started to peel off. Initially, we thought about getting a new bed, but that presented new problems of logistics--how to get rid of the old one. Thinking of alternatives, we found Fine Touch Custom Upholstery, which was highly rated on Yelp. It was a great idea. They answered right away; we sent them a picture with what needed to be done. They sent us an estimate, and we negotiated a deal. The very next day, they came to pick up the boards, and in two days everything was done and the boards were back. They were perfectly done, and the frame looks like new--dare I say, almost better. Not only that, Ignacio went beyond and above and reassembled the bed, saving me a sure visit to my chiropractor. This chair survived the 1906 earthquake in SF! After my grandparents passed away it was in storage units and garages for 40 years. Fine Touch did a fantastic job repairing and re-stringing the seat. The cushions, upholstery and fabric are all perfect. They loved it as much as I do and recommended not refinishing it, but instead just cleaning the wood and leaving the wear/patina. They were right! So, so very impressed with job! Outstanding! Better than I pictured. This was 10 dining room chairs, now with "ultra leather" seats. They recommended changing the seat base to make it more sturdy which was very minimally more, but makes the chairs more solid. I contacted a few furniture repair places over the past 2 weeks but none replied. Perhaps it was the effects COVID-19 had had on their business but NOT replying is certainly no way to garner business. However, when I reached out to Fine Touch, I was given their location and hours and was told that they welcomed walk-ins. I brought the section of my modular couch in, explained and showed them the damaged area and was given an estimate, on the spot. Moreover, I was told what they would have to do to fix it and that they should have that repaired by 3 PM (SERIOUSLY??!) that same afternoon. It was about 11 AM when I dropped it off. I didn't believe it would be done that quickly - at least not a quality job - but appreciated the priority attention I was being given. Sure enough, I got a call a little after 3 PM telling me it was ready. I checked it out, without taking it apart to view the inside (as I'd done to troubleshoot it almost 2 weeks prior) but it was solid, pristine-looking and SOUND. Ignacio and his wife just left my house. I had a hideaway couch with a broken mattress deck and called a few places which were mentioned in Yelp, one of which was Fine Touch. I called on Friday and left a message. Ignacio called back on Saturday and requested a viewing. He called this morning and said that they had a mechanism in the shop in the event that they might want to build one. He asked if he could come over this afternoon, pick up a deposit and see if there would be enough room to work here and see if his mechanism might work. There was and it's repaired. I couldn't believe it, expecting ordering time, waiting for delivery, etc. He even vacuumed the area. I will highly recommend Fine Touch. i brought in this broken victorian style sofa to fine touch upholstery that my parents had bought my wife at a yard sale for $25. it sat in our garage for several years with hopes and dreams from my wife that we could restore it to a realistic level. i first spoke with griselda about upholstery options and whether or not to paint or restain the wood frame. she was very helpful and supportive of our vision . ignacio was sent pictures of the sofa, as he was out on sight for another project. let me say this, the sofa had major broken pieces on the ornate wood frame, a broken support block with a caster wheel and unknown surprises under the existing upholstery. ignacio embraced the project with an incomparble professionalism out of a genuine labor of love for his craft. ignacio said he could fix the 100 year-old+ antique piece without hesitation and i trusted his confidence. the finished masterpiece, as you can tell from the pictures(the white canvass cloth tufted victorian sofa with chalk white distressed paint) surpassed my expectations but also more importantly my wife's. fine touch went above and beyond our vision and rendered us speechless. the unparalleled restoration, down to resecuring the frame, and attention to detail was unexpected. they even thanked us for bringing the sofa to them allowing them to work on it. they deserve six stars if google had it and we were 110% satisfied throughout the entire process including their quote. please support this family owner/operated small business, because these people truly love what they do and it will show in your project as if it was their own. read more
