After we had it located his crew of Michael and Hudson came and dug it out and we had a riser installed so it is ready for any future problems. Not pleased with my experience…read more I called and gave all the details I could give over the phone. Asked if they could give me a ball park cost. They said the tech could tell me what needed to be done and the cost when he arrived. When he arrived, he didn't even look at anything or hardly want to hear anything I had to say about what was going on. He basically just walked up and said here are your 3 options, they cost $270, $500 or $520. I said which one do I need. He said I don't really know, you choose and we will see if that's what the problem is.... REALLY!? So if I choose wrong, then we will have to do another thing and if that doesn't work we will have needed I'll spending well over $1000. H said yeah it's kind of a catch 22. I expected them to arrive and use some expertise, perhaps diagnostic tools and TELL ME what needed to be done to fix the job. Oh, and the guy said it was going to cost like $270 for him to dig up the septic tank. I could save some money by digging it up myself... ok, I'll spend 10 mins to save $270. So he left, I called back 10 mins later to get back in the cue. Before he made it back out I had l ready reached out to a different company and had them come out. I'll never call Roto Rooter again.

The other companies were sure they'd have to intall another drain field(more expensive) but Matt explained to me why he could most likely repair my existing D-fields...and thats exactly what he and his crew did. By the way, Matt gave the first estimate so he wasn't trying to undercut anyone, he was just telling me how he could fix my problem. I was amazed at how little they had to dig to repair connections to my 4 drain fields. They dug 1 bucket wide a few feet down with an Excavator about 60 feet. When they were done they put down grass seed and straw = doesnt look bad at all. I highly recommend Matt/American Drainfield if you want it done right the first time for a reasonable price.

He proceeded to tell me my 7 year old gaspack…read moreunit heat exchanger was all rusted and had holes in it and was most likely dumping carbon monoxide into my vents and it could kill us. Told me that he legally had to shutoff the gas supply to the unit as it was dangerous. Quoted me ballpark figures of $5k to replace the heat exchanger or even better to replace the entire unit at a cost of $9k-$15k! I immediately called my prior service company and them come out and inspect the unit the next business day. They pulled the blower motor and showed me a very shiny heat exchanger that was in perfect shape. The thing the Preferred technician was showing me was the burner, not the heat exchanger! My prior technician also informed me my unit is still under warranty and the heat exchanger has a 20 year parts warranty so I would only have to pay $500 labor charge to replace it if it was bad. If feel like Preferred Home Services are dishonest and use scare tactics to upsell their unknowing customers on unnecessary repairs and replacements. I attempted to address these complaints with management at Preferred Home Services, but after waiting for 3 days with no call back, decided to post this review. I will not use their services again. ​

Month later we have a full tank. Found out through another source he does this to avoid having to dump at the end of the day. So if you are going to use this company you should be there to make sure he doesn't try to put water back in your tank because there should be enzymes in the tank itself already and it's just a bunch of b.s. I know I'm not calling him back anymore. I gave it 1 star because leaving 0 was not an option.
