Tonight is our last night here, and overall, we've been pretty disappointed. First of all, for a hotel that charges over $300 a night, it's hard to justify paying extra for parking--especially when you're traveling in an accessible van with a disability parking permit. As an anniversary gift, the hotel gave us one complimentary breakfast, which was a nice gesture. Honestly, though, I'm glad we didn't pay for it. While explaining what was included, the employee working at the breakfast station coughed several times. One of those coughs was directly toward me while we were talking. I understand that people get sick, but if someone is working around food while they're not feeling well, they should at least be wearing a mask. That experience immediately made me uncomfortable. She also offered me coffee, and I said yes. I went to the buffet, finished getting my food, and about 20 minutes later she came back with the check--but still no coffee. I had to remind her before she finally brought it over. As for the food, it was well below what I'd expect from a hotel in this price range. The eggs were bland, the bacon tasted like a lower-quality product, and the grapes were wilted. The sausage was actually really good, though. The breakfast area also wasn't very clean. The floors were covered with crumbs and food, and while the staff wiped down the tables, the floors didn't seem to get much attention. I honestly wouldn't recommend paying for breakfast here. Between the service, cleanliness, and food quality, it just wasn't worth it. The room itself is beautiful, and the view is amazing. The location is also fantastic--we've been able to walk (and roll) almost everywhere, which has been a huge plus. However, even the room has maintenance issues that I wouldn't expect at this price point. The bathroom wallpaper is peeling, and the wood floors are heavily scratched. Those aren't major issues on their own, but for more than $300 a night, I expected much better attention to detail. Overall, this hotel has a great location and a beautiful room, but the service, maintenance, and breakfast experience didn't match the premium price.

But the above and beyond began when it came to our nephew, who has autism. They were so helpful, patient, and kind. He was loud AF in the breakfast buffet and even grabbed the tongs from the strawberries and took off with them. They were gentle and sweet and just replaced them. Then they let him play with the games outside, which were super sensory-friendly for him. Later in the day, he had a major accident in the bathroom. We called down to tell them what happened, and the front desk agent was there within two minutes with towels and garbage bags. Five minutes later, housekeeping was there with tons of cleaning supplies (we told them we would clean; we just needed the supplies). Ten minutes after that, maintenance stopped by with a plunger and other things and finished everything up for us. Crying even now as I write this. Because later, after all the meltdowns settled and he was finally chilled for a bit, the front desk sent housekeeping up with some whole milk so we didn't have to go out and get more. Our day was good because he was loved and cared for and the because the Element staff made sure we felt cared for and supported as well. Big kudos to them. We will be staying there from now on when we visit Asheville.

The pool was heated and warm enough for my infant son to swim in comfortably, but the hot tub was down for maintenance. Towels were available. The gym was clean and they also offered towels, sanitary wipes, yoga blocks and mats, and a water fountain. Dumbbells ranged from 5lbs to 50lbs and they had a few different attachments for the cable machine. The room was clean and comfortable. My daughter enjoyed the chair with the TV table, where she ate dinner and happily watched a Christmas movie. We were happy with the beds and the amount of pillows that came on them! The kitchen was stocked with a small amount of place settings and 2 pots, though there were no pans. I was sort of disappointed that dish soap was not provided, but we found 3 loose dishwasher pods under the sink, so we washed our dishes with one of those. I'm not sure they were provided by the hotel either, but left from another guest. The laundry room was free, you just had to provide your own detergent. I was honestly really happy with our stay, but I did find a few hairs from other guests stuck in all the towels. All in all, I would consider staying here again.

It's important to keep in mind that this is an old, historic building that is retrofitted to a modern world. So, rooms are a little bit different. Yeah, they don't have microwave ovens, or refrigerators, but are those really needed? They have coffee makers, irons, ironing boards, and comfortable, spacious rooms. Our bed was tops, and we slept great. I also liked how the shower "got hot" very quickly; almost instantly, and the water pressure was great. The bathroom is a little small, but that's mostly because of the retrofit. I don't think the original hotel even had bathing facilities in each room. The bathroom is big enough for anything you really need to do in there. The closet is small, too, but again, it's big enough. We were there when a golf tournament was going on, and yet, the rooms and hallways were still very quiet. On top of that, the service is incredible. Several people came by our table to ask if everything was ok, and how we liked it. It is the epitome of Southern Hospitality, and charm. There is a big, outdoor pool for the kids, a lot of beautiful, green space for enjoying the lovely mountain view, and, of course, golf. We don't play, but it was kind of fun watching tournament attendees tee off. When you stay at this place, expect to be treated very well, and made to feel like a guest. As for the problems with checking in, it's not that hard. There's plenty of parking, even when a tournament is on. Golfing, or not, it's a nice, quiet, peaceful retreat.

I received a confirmation email last week on 9/11 from Chase, reminding me of my upcoming stay. When I tried to check in this afternoon, I was told that my reservation was canceled. News to me! I showed the clerk my confirmation and she called her manager. She was told that the "third party" used by Chase canceled it last week. I was told that I could pay for another room that was 2 queens (not the King I reserved) but it would cost me $599/night! That's almost the cost of what I paid for 4 nights! I called Chase and they called the "third party" who said they didn't cancel it. The hotel did with no reason provided. This left us without a room after driving 8 hours to get there. The third party tried to rebook a room at this property, but I was told by Chase that the property refused to do so!!! Luckily, I was able to book a room elsewhere for the next 4 nights. I will NEVER book a room with any Radisson property. Horrible customer service. And while I was sitting in the lobby talking to Chase on the phone, I witnessed a guest pass out and hit the floor by the front desk and the front desk attendant just stood there until I jumped up and said she needed help. WTH?!!! Again, horrible customer service. Honestly, they don't even deserve 1 star after this experience!! Stay away!!!
