This must be the cleanest thrifts store I have ever visited. The clothes didn't smell bad, household items were shiny. Smaller toys and some utensils are packed in plastic bags and nicely sorted. Furnitures did look spotless. I saw so many evening dresses and hats among other clothing items. This is a huge store and there were several employees working. Maybe that's why they are so well organized. Also, I found out, that they pick up larger donation items from home. I did talk to one of the Managers, and he told me how they operate. I used to always enjoy coming here and finding gems until recently an employee wouldnt leave my side and just was invasive. I get they're doing their jobs and stocking but as a customer I feel I should have the freedom to browse with no time restriction and am priority as a shopper during business hours. I stopped by because the sign above the store says America's Thrift STORE. Also there were donate here signs. There were a couple of guys outside the store helping a person with some packages. I ask is this an only a donation center or and a store for shopping? And one of the younger guys said it's donation only, that's why we have all these signs that say donate here. I once found a Marie Osmond Porcelain doll and gave it to my friend's daughter whose afraid of porcelain dolls....that was fun...she thought the eyes followed her when she wasn't looking...Stephen King could write a whole novel on that one doll alone... This place just always SMELLS funny any time I have ever gone in . The staff is nice but the smell is musty and if you purchase something it usually takes more than 2 or 3 times. They are pretty much reasonably priced. It's just the smell that gives them a low rating in my opinion read more

Edited January 2013: Before moving to their new location, this was hands down the best thrift store in the area. I regularly found designer items -- a Burberry trench, Ralph Lauren dress, Coach purse -- for very little money. The store changed direction after the move. A lot of schlock items and higher prices. The former store manager was great. The current manager, not so much. America's Thrift doesn't have dressing rooms. I personally liked that, because they extend store credit for returned apparel. (The policy allowed me to buy clothing for my daughter and husband.) The old store had a big mirror where one could informally try on clothing. The new store has a small mirror, that might be helpful if one is buying a hat ..... but if you try on a sweater or jacket, you won't know what it looks like till you bring it home. If you're a savvy shopper, compare America's Thrift to Goodwill. I think, like me, you'll be crossing America's Thrift off your list. read more

This store got really good when they relocated across the street to be next to Old Time Pottery. One of the best thrift stores in the Atlanta area, I love this place. They don't have a dressing room, but that's the only drawback and if you're creative you can get around that inconvenience. The prices are low and they cycle tag colors with discounts. The furniture is more expensive than some other thrift stores but is about on par with Goodwill prices. Clothing is way less expensive than Goodwill. Definitely recommend this place! read more

PROS: They have a big selection. It's a pretty similar layout to Goodwill in how they organize clothing but for whatever reason I don't feel as overwhelmed going through the clothes here as I do at Goodwills. I love their sales! They do the whole blue tags are 40% off today and green tags are 20%. Love it. Last time I was there, I walked out with a nicely fitted Anne Klein dress for $5! You can't beat that. CONS: No fitting room!!! Geez, America's Thrift. This is something that could be so easily remedied. I don't get it. Like another reviewer said, I don't care if a dress is $5, I need to try it on before buying. So that's exactly what I did. I saw a long mirror conveniently propped up against the wall and took advantage. Luckily I was wearing a tank top underneath my sweater that day. Obviously, I wasn't going to take off my jeans so this meant I tried on a skirt over my jeans. Yes, I was that girl. I'm sure I gave some fellow thrifters a little entertainment that day. If I lived in Atlanta, I might skip trying on clothes out in the open since they have a pretty good return policy but since I don't, if the next time you're there and you see some girl strutting around in front of a mirror with a layer or two of extra clothing, that'll be me. I've always preferred buying at least some percentage of my clothes secondhand. You just can't get a shirt that feels comfortable and worn in the way a really good find at a thrift store does--not to mention for a fraction of the cost. These days, though, most of these places get sucked dry pretty quickly, so it's harder to find that extra-worn tee shirt or awesome sweater hidden among the racks of crap. As far as thrift stores go, America's usually can be depended on for having at least one or two remotely worthy items. When I'm in the mood for searching, I always make it a point to drop by here. They have more racks of both men's and women's clothes than most other stores I've been to, and they don't seem aggressively picked over, being outside the perimeter. I must admit, I've bought quite a ton of crap from their toy aisles also: busted trophies, weird instruments, illustrated books from the 70's, homemade animal sculptures. Almost as much of the store contains their weird novelties as it does clothing. You know, nothing you'd let your cousin put his mouth on, but great for gag gifts or random decoration. read more

In my opinion, a good thrift store should: -have quick turnover, so that when I go back next month there is a whole new selection. -have donations from varying economic levels and not be too picked-over, so that there is a good mix of normal, unique, and downright insane items. -be clean, organized, and well-lit. -not charge much. America's Thrift Store ranks: - on quick turnover, a 4 -- the clothes are always different but the books hardly ever change. - on variety, a 5 -- I have found the strangest and most interesting clothes here, as well as a good selection of clothes that your average person would like. I've also found some interesting trinkets in the miscellaneous section. - on attractiveness, a 3 -- moderately organized, not very clean (I feel the need to wash my hands as soon as I get in the car, and I'm no clean freak), decently lit but not quite appealing. The workers are a varying group -- some quite friendly, some quite surly. - on price, a 5 -- definitely the best thrift store I've been to. Each item is individually priced (as opposed to pricing by the clothing type) and you can find items for as cheap as $0.79. Overall, I'd say that if you're looking for used books you won't have a lot of luck (unless you like bodice-ripper 'romances'), but if you're looking for clothes you might -- as long as you're willing to get a little dirty. read more

Love this store! I found a lot of interesting clothing (read here: fabulous patterns) for cheeeeaaaaap. The items I found were already cheaper than Goodwill, but the store has a really good color tag sale policy and most of my stuff qualified for the color of the week, so those items ended up being an additional half off. Most of the shirts I bought ended up being $1.50 each, so I was really, really happy. It's a HUGE store. Not superbly organized, in my opinion, but I didn't mind that at all. Also, there aren't any dressing rooms. As far as I know, this is pretty standard for an America's Thrift, because it's the same with the one in Athens. There are mirrors scattered through the store and you have to stand in front of one and try stuff on over your own clothes. I'm different than most people in that I don't like dressing rooms anyway, so I didn't mind this either, although I can understand how other people would. You've got to love a thrift store that actually organizes by size and not color! I get very impatient searching through 45 pattern skirts looking for one in my size. Coming here makes everything quick. This is the easiest place to find skirts and t-shirts. I've had a couple lucky finds with jeans or halloween costumes too. I love thrift stores. For clothing, this one sucks because it has no fitting room. It's a HUGE store. I have never been to a thrift store before that did not have a fitting room. I don't care if I'm only paying $2 for a shirt, I'm not buying it if I can't try it on. I only didn't give it one star because it has a ton of non-clothing items, and they were well-organized and easy to look through. America's Thrift Store is MOVING in beside Queen of Hearts and Old Time Pottery on Canton Road. I'm a super-picky thrifter and score consistently well here. Have the best luck with dinnerware, jewelery, fabric, books and kids clothes. The occasional piece of mid-mod furniture makes it home for repurposing. It's also great for used toys for littles. NO AIR CONDITIONING IN THE STORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is not a joke. And yes, this is in Georgia. Strange they have money for charity and yet can't provide the customers nor the employees with air conditioning or an open window?? Doesn't charity begin at home?? So I changed the rating. The other customers were really complaining about it. And it's not just this store. Amazed at the selection here. I was basically expecting little more than junk with a few treasures hidden here and there. The clothing is exceptional quality, many with new tags. Most of the clothing looks new. Tons of formal and prom dresses. ONE big exception here over other thrift brand stores, they actually size the clothing and separate it accordingly, so you don't have to sift thru racks and racks to find your size, they've already sized and sorted everything for you. Great selection of books, dvd's, furniture too. etc.. They even now have BUNGEE, which is like UBER for furniture moving. read more

I scooped of various tweed/vintage-y looking fall jackets, and sweaters here that were new!! Where I would have spent over $200 on everything I bought I walked a way with a nice little bounty for $35! It's definitely worth stopping by just to check that out, other than that I have not found much here, except when they get the new items in. read more

This place is awesome!!! I am truly a professional thrift store junkie. I shop around for the best store, bang for my buck and cleaniless. This place is all of that. It is clean, organized by not only color and size but also by sale!!! I left work on my lunch break to go and check it out as was impressed. I got 4 pair of jeans, 2 jackets, 4 shirts and 2 shirts for $27 after all the discounts!!! I am hooked and am so glad to have found a new thrift store to call home : ) read more

Large store with lots of items. Organized by size, which is very helpful. The items, for the most part, are in very good condition. I found a great skirt that looked almost new. Purchased it. I found another that was awesome, but unfortunately not my size. I was really sad about that. I was very happy to see that they sold soda here. $1.49. I really needed that on my thrifting tour around the area. Check out was easy and fast. They have specials on certain tag colors - look out for the signage. I don't like the fact that they don't have any dressing rooms. But there is a full length mirror that you can try things on by. There is no place to put the items that you don't want - I just ended up putting them at the end of a rod. The customer shouldn't have to roam the store putting everything back. read more

For those of you who enjoy bargains, America's Thrift is for you. I love to go to thrift stores and while I do enjoy Goodwill, I have to say that I prefer America's Thrift. While I have found that Goodwill tends to have a better selection when it comes to furniture, books, and misc household items, America's Thrift is much easier to navigate if you are searching for clothes. America's has it's clothing section organized by type (men's shirts, women's skirts, etc) and by size. So if you are looking for a particular item in a particular size, you just go to the isle that corresponds with your needs and there you have it. I have found that Goodwill tends to group it's clothing by type and color. Another selling point for America's Thrift is that they offer 3 discounts on a daily basis based on 3 different colors for the day / week. The discounts are as follows: 30%, 50% and 70%. All items are color coordinated so that when you find an item you want, you can compare the color on the item to the discount color for that day and see if you will be receiving a discount on an already low price. On the negative side, there isn't a place to try on the clothes before you buy them like you would find at Goodwill; however, they do offer an in store credit (on select merchandise) if you return the items with the tags still on and before 30 days after the date of purchase. The staff is very friendly and I have found some really great deals here...so I would definitely recommend it! read more

This is probably the most organized thrift store ive ever been in... and ive been in a lot lol. (its a hobby of mine, what can i say?) The clothing is sized!!!! (this is a major plus because every other thrift store ive been in all the pants are just hung on a rack and when your lucky enough to find a pair of jeans you like, your praying to god that they are your size! not here! everyting is sized and in the correct places. AND they use bar codes and scanners!! so check out is easy and employees are relatively polite. Now, its not in an upscale part of town so youre probably not going to find your Christian Louboutin shoes for 3 dollars BUT occasionally they do have some treasures. I have found that the prices here can tend to be higher than other thrift stores in the area, but im ok with that since i'm not having to sift thru a bunch of second hand clothes that arent even my size. The new location here is WAY better than the musty onld dungeon that America's thrift used to be. If youre looking for clothes, this is the best thrift in the area for that. Yuck. Store was pretty dirty. I only looked at books, housewares, furniture, toys, etc. --not clothes of any type--but ick. I didn't want to really touch anything and honestly it all looked like it should have been sent to the dump. I don't mind digging, but there was nothing to dig for. America's Thrift Store, is the best thrift I have ever been in and I have been in alot..I use to go every week when I lived around the corner..I live now in the North Ga. Mts. and I go every couple of months. You find name brand clothes. Also, Sears, Target, Old Navy, Walmart, T.J. Max donate their things... Everything there is not used..I always get fantastic deals ...For a thrift store, it is very clean.. It is best to go there when you have time to look...I have spent 4 or 5 hrs. there and go through everything.. You can not try on anything, but the return policy is very good, they don't give cash back, they give you credit., if the tag is still on. And you can use the credit at any time. Definite hit or miss! The first time I went in, I found so many nice shoes...I found 2 pairs that I loved but had to return 1 because it was too small and the other pair I have has hella scuff marks on it and needs some shoe polish but I kept that pair because it was only $2. I skimmed the clothes the first time I went but when I actually looked I could not find anything! What a waste of 3 hours. Having dressing rooms would really help. They have a decent shoe collection but it's rare that you find a GEM your size!!! Overall its an okay store. I won't be returning but it's okay. read more

This is hands down the best thrift store in Marietta. Clean and organized. Friendly staff. Sometimes the lines can get a little long but usually another employee will come by and open another register. The prices are really good and they always have a nice selection of new stuff every time I shop there. I stop by a few times per week. Highly recommended. read more

I do not recommend this store.;( They have no dressing room to try on clothing items. Most of the people who work their are rude, especially the store manager. They seem to enjoy the look on peoples faces when your asking for the dressing room with you standing their with a basket full of cloths. It's been several months since the store manager told me that they are working on installing dressing rooms, but still has not happened. I was in the area just recently for a doctor's appointment and went no further than the front door to ask and still no dressing room. The manager had stated to me that they do have a month return policy as long as you have your receipt. Really! I live in Acworth and why should I have to spend more in gas to return stuff that does not fit. If, you don't want my money on my first visit, then you don't need it at all.
