If I could give 0 stars - this would be the business that would get 0 stars. I paid all the fees, and attempted to order online because I do not give them an autopay access because they charge entirely too much given the tank rental fees and then all of the other associated fees that make propane unaffordable. So - I tried to order online only to have my order status say that I needed to call customer service to place my order -- but they still charged me for the gas and all of the other fees and placed it as a "credit" on my account. The service is now ordered but will not be delivered for 7 days. When it is delivered they insist on a leak check that will cost $150 for them to see that my one device will start once the gas is delivered ~ $150 that will only require that they look in and see that the gas stove lights. In the end, I will probably either convert my stove and water heater to electric or change to a new propane company. Amerigas does not have any programs for unemployed or disabled persons and as a utility company should be required to make accommodations for such accounts. The placing of online delivery orders and applying discount codes towards pricing with those orders greatly assist in the ease of setting up a delivery order. However, emails generated after placing online orders, do not always reflect the agreed to pricing. this will then require a phone call to customer service were the dialect by those trying to assist customers is challenging at best to understand and the upsell from customer service when there is a considerable effort in not honoring the online pricing is unnecessary but a frequent condition when utilizing AmeriGas services. read more

I ordered gas and was told it was going to arrive on Monday On Monday when it did arrive I was told that it was going to be the next Monday and if I wanted it faster it would be 400.00 extra! So I canceled my order and asked for a refund. Then I was told my account would be credited and was hung up on. I don't want a credit I want a refund after 8 phone calls that were 40 min or more to customer service in India. I was told my refund would come in a CHECK and it would ta 4 to 8 WEEKS!!!!! The leak test is arbitrary. First claimed it was because it is at zero percent. It has 30%. Then they realized that bull defecation didn't hold water, & said it's because I had not filled this year. The San Marcos location wanted over $100 for a leak test for a tank they insisted was at zero percent, again it has 30%. Then the Ramona location wanted nearly $500 for a leak test because I didn't need a fill often enough. The level of greed, and dishonesty is outrageous, especially since it obviously has no leak. Earlier today Saturday 10/14/23 I called Amerigas @ the Ramona, CA location that provides service to our area. I was given the run around by three different Representatives & I was asking for simple information regarding service to our home. I finally asked to speak to a Supervisor with the Representative refusing to put me in contact with the Supervisor in question. I find the Representatives for the call center for Amerigas very unprofessional, misleading & disrespectful. I would recommend avoiding Amerigas if @ all possible. read more

Our 500 gallon Amerigas tank leaked about 250 gallons of propane. They repaired their tank leak and refilled it, charging us $950. They will not give us credit for the lost propane from thier failed tank. So, we will not pay the bill until they correct their billing to show a credit for 250 lost gallons of propane from their defective tank. They've now hired a collection agency to go after us. Screw them. We will never pay their fraudulent bill. If you enjoy speaking to incompetent Amerigas customer service people in India or Pakistan, you really should contract with Amerigas for all your propane needs. read more

This is the WORST company. DO NOT USE THEM. Unfortunately, i cannot switch to another propane because my landlord uses this specific company. They have extremely horrible customer service. I've called several times to schedule my delivery, and every time they claim to escalate to service team department to expedite request. I've been without propane for going on 3 weeks, and I keep getting the runaround from them. A tech came out, claims there was a leak.. so slapped a red tag on it and said someone would come fix it. No one came! and no one would respond to the text messages or calls. When I call, I have to fight to understand the person I'm talking to because they all have such heavy accents. THE WORST!!!!!!!!!!!! BEWARE!!!!!!!!!! My experience: 1. Wouldnt do an emergency propane for a fill in February so my pipes froze, and my house was demolished with $100,000 worth of water damage 2. When I first created an account and started services for my new home, they simply didn't do it after several calls to verify. They sent out a guy to my house three different times, threatening to turn off my propane if I didn't start my services. My guests were not appreciative of the intrusion even when I asked them to never have anyone bug my tenants again and it kept happening. 3. I cancelled and switched to All-State Propane because of #1 reason, their tank was removed by All State and put on the street, after I cancelled my services. YET they are still charging for filling up a tank that is not there FOR THREE MONTHS NOW AND THEY CLAIM I NEVER CANCELLED. I have called and emailed and canceled months ago ONE SEVERAL OCCASIONS because Im shocked every time I receive another bill. I have been with ProFlame / AmeriGas for over 20 years. While I have had issues in the past, this most recent situation has pushed me over the edge. We were scheduled for a delivery on 12/17/21, and AmeriGas never. I do not check my tank on a regular schedule, because we are on an auto rotation with delivery. 1/17/22: while I was out of town for business, my wife smelled gas in the house. We called the emergency gas leak phone line and a tech did come out to check things out. He informed us that all of our lines were good and that the smell/ leak was caused by the tank being so close to completely empty. The tech said that this was caused by AmeriGas and their missed delivery from 12/17. He gave us a few gallons of gas and said that he will have a truck come by the next day to fill the tank. 1/20/22: We still have not received gas delivery. I called and after being on hold for 30 minutes I was finally able to speak with someone. I was told that an emergency propane delivery would take place the same day and that we would have our tank filled by 8:00pm that day. AmeriGas must outsource their call center because their "customer service" person could not properly pronounce my name. (My name is extremely easy to pronounce) 1/22/22: After returning from a business trip and expecting to have this issue finally resolved, I discovered that my tank is still at 0%. I called their emergency phone line and was on hold for OVER and HOUR before I finally gave up and hung up the phone. 1/23/22: Called their "Emergency Phone Line" again and no answer. Only stayed on hold for 20 minutes this time. We still have no gas. I have a cold house and cold water. AmeriGas has missed 3 scheduled / requests over the past 5 weeks. This company has about as much respect for their customers as I have propane in my tank, 0%. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH AMERIGAS. read more

First, if I can give 1/2 a star I would! How is this company operational in "America" and has part of that in their name. Yet when you call, you get the Philippine call center who doesn't understand US culture so they really don't know how to relate. We installed a pool heater and per the device it couldn't maintain pressure. We called Amerigas, our provider and they tested from the internal furnace which isn't where the pressure issue was. They then tried to charge us $400. They kept making excuses stating the issue is never them and always someone else. I asked them to check the 20 year old equipment/piping but they refused because they saw no issues, again they tested the wrong area. I then paid for a gas / leak company to confirm no leaks and there were none.another cost I incurred because Amerigas refused to admit they have any issues on their end. After working more with our pool service provider and pool heater vendor, they replaced everything and it is still an issue with pressure dropping. I called Amerigas again and they basically "REFUSED" to come out and told me to hire a third party. How do I hire a third party to examine their equipment. Last thing I need is for Amerigas to say that the third party broke something. I cannot believe this "American" company refuses to help their customer resolve this issue! Who is running this "SHADY" company! I'm still stuck without a working pool heater! Good luck trying To get an American or company leader to get a hold of, all you do is get stuck in the queue and then they send you to a place where it just loops. DO NOT USE AMERIGAS FOR YOUR PROPANE NEEDS, they are HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have been with Amerigas/formally Ramona Propane for 22 years. For the first 10 or so years they provided a good service at a reasonable price. But, over time, their customer service is horrible along with the price that they charge for propane and their tank rental fee is the highest out of all the other propane providers. I finally made the decision to change propane companies (which is not easy to do because you have to time it right with using most of your propane so they can switch the tanks) but I did it and switched to Kamps; I am not going to review Kamps yet because it is too new but I have been happy so far with their customer service. The icing on the cake with Amerigas is when I called them to cancel my service they informed me that there is a $145.41 cancellation fee. To whom it may concern, A couple of weeks ago we called to have our services started with AmeriGas because they were the only company left that does rentals in our area. We set up a site survey and they agreed to meet two weeks from the day I called. No quotes were talked about or price. They charged me 15 for the site survey over the phone which was fine. I made sure to take the day and have my pool guy be able to show up so they could be on the same page on where to put the propane tank. Two weeks goi by and it's the day of the site survey. I waited all day and an hour after our appointment. No show. I called AmeriGas and asked what happened. AmeriGas told me they had no one in the area and I would have to reschedule. I was frustrated because I had to call to find out my whole day off was for nothing and my pool guy missed some of his appointments as well. Anyways, I rescheduled. Another two weeks go by and AmeriGas does my site visit. Everything went fine. I called the next day to set up an appointment. I was on a silent hold for 30 minutes and when the receptionist came back on,. She gave me a delivery date for my propane tank. One week from the day we spoke. I told my pool guy via text before I got off of the phone call with AmeriGas to make sure he had it open, and made sure I had family at home to receive the tank that day. That day came, and no delivery. I called and AmeriGas told me, "We don't have an appointment for you today." I was livid. I set up a new appointment and asked for a supervisor to call me back before the tank was delivered so I could understand why I kept having to call instead of the company updating me. The day of the delivery came... No supervisor had called me back. The tank was installed and the company left and told my wife the tank only had four days, but didn't say what that meant. Still no quote on price. The following day, I'm at work, and I get a call from AmeriGas saying my tank was being delivered today. I told them it was already delivered the day prior. They told me they would deliver the propane to fill p the tank. I managed to scramble to get someone to go to my house to sign for the paperwork. Still no invoice. The propane worked and was going well. I logged on the website to check my meter. It showed no tank delivered and to set up my final appointment. I was unable to check my meter online because of this because it showed incomplete. On top of that, it had automatic payments on and it said it would charge me in two days for almost 800 dollars. I was besides myself. I called AmeriGas and spoke with Denise. She was great. She helped me straighten out my account, took auto payments off, and said they should have invoiced me so I would have time to pay my tank. Denise also mentioned my account was set up in a weird way. She told me not to worry about it and it would work itself out. Denise also told me about the payment and yearly rate which was the first time I heard about cost. I could pay the total amount, I just needed a heads up. Two days later I'm getting ready to pay my mortgage... And yes, my bank account was missing almost 800 dollars. AmeriGas charged my account without my authorization and saved my info from the site survey. I lost it. I called AmeriGas and the supervisor I finally got connected with told me to call my bank and have them stop the payment. If it didn't work, then call back and they would get a refund which takes two to 4 weeks. I called the bank, and they said it was on the company's end. I called back AmeriGas and asked them to stop my payment since it was still pending so I could pay my mortgage instead of getting a refund. I told them I would pay next month like a normal account was set up. The supervisor cancelled the payment and said it would be refunded in 24-72 hours. That was 12 days ago... I still can't see how much propane I have on line and it still shows me that I need to set up my final appointment. I cant pay my mortgage until the end of the month which means I not only get a late payment, but now it will take me months to catch up to my normal savings habits again. This was one of the worst customer experiences I have ever had. This may affect my credit because of how late I have to pay my mortgage. Please if anyone reads this or can help me, please help. This has been so frustrating and upsetting and I feel like the people that were helpful, did not know how to solve the problem. I'm going to post this on every major review site until Amerigas pays me back, or has a supervisor call me back to handle this. I'm sick of calling in and not having my issue handled. I'm convinced this is some kind of front for a criminal enterprise because it doesn't function like a normal utility company and is unresponsive and apathetic toward customers' needs or even basic supply and demand. Look at all the reviews for all the locations and you'll see this. I'm moving and today called to schedule turning off service. I was told it would take 3-4 weeks to do this?!?! I asked why since every other utility company I've used just has you fill out an online form saying when you're moving and that's it. The employee couldn't explain why. He said he submitted the request and that's all he can do. This was the fourth person I talked to because the first three didn't know what to do. Classic Amerigas! Every person told me something different, one said I needed to wait for a call back from another department because her department doesn't handle this, another said I have to be here for the shut off, even though I will have moved, another said I had to give my new address to them but wouldn't say why, and then the last person said it would take 3-4 weeks! Used to be great. Then they recently closed the local office. I'm on auto fill up. They haven't come out, ran low, called them and they said they'd be out by the end of the day. Didn't come out. Called again - the call center is out of state. No way to talk to someone local. They said they'd "expedite" my order for two days later. It's the middle of winter. Ever since Amerigas took over Proflame we have had nothing but problems getting our propane. Their customer service is horrible. We have a dog and Proflame would call us the day before delivery so we could open the gate and have our dog inside. We cannot get this from Amerigas and are forced to keep our gate open for one to two weeks because we can't get an answer as to when they are coming. Their customer service number appears to be out of the USA. If our tank wasn't in the back yard and would be very difficult to move, I would change companies in a second. I called for a delivery 17 days ago. My tank is completely empty. Every time I call I'm told something different. When I asked for my almost $400 back they said they couldn't give it to me because I was on the schedule for delivery. That was almost 2 weeks ago. This morning I was told I can't be put on the schedule because it's a Saturday. Earlier this year they filled my tank and left a huge bill on my door. I told them to take it back because I hadn't ordered it, that was a huge fight with them, now I have ordered it and they won't deliver. It's winter, I have no hot water, can't cook. I've begged them, pleaded, cried, yelled, threatened suicide and am told everyday that they'll escalate it to an emergency delivery. My husband and I have been customers since 2002 when the propane company was Pro Flame, the service has never been consistently good but we kept them. When Amerigas took over the service has been deplorable! We are on a monthly billing and propane check. April 2020 we were empty and had to have an emergency fill which affected our whole schedule. It is just my husband and I so propane use is not high. They are supposed to be checking levels monthly and they are not. On January 9, 2021, were at 1%. I was on the phone with Amerigas on hold for over two hours, before I finally spoke to a human. Someone later that day came to fill however again, this should not have occurred. Also, many residents in Ramona have left Amerigas and their tanks are still littering the neighborhood as,Amerigas has not picked up their tanks. I'm leaving my review here because I just found out Amerigas and Pro-Flame are the same company. Stay away We moved into a new property in May... it's now July. The property management AND the current tenant before me told me the property was on propane and told me the take would have 60 gallons of propane. I moved in and wouldn't you know it.... the tank was at 60 just like they told me. The propane tank only feeds the stove and central heat. With it being 100 degrees most days we clearly aren't running the central heat. We use the stove/ oven every night so the propane is MAYBE at 50 and we have been here for two FULL months. This morning at 7:30am a tech from this company showed up, knocked on my door and told me he was 'locking' my propane tank due to payment. He was actually very nice. I explain to him there had to be a mistake because we have never received a bill/statement/ letter. Nothing posted on the property, nothing mailed, nothing... they never even attempt to mail something in the pervious tenants name. I know before we are friends with the previous tenant and have been forwarding their mail for them. The tech they sent said I could call the office because they could update the work order and cancel his visit. Me and the tech attempted to call the office in my driveway seven times. Of course this is an auto answer and you have to push certain buttons to get through. I tired every single one. It would either hang up on me after about 7 mins or an auto message would come telling my local office wasn't accepting calls. Very unprofessional to turn someone's utilities off with no warning and then ignore customer calls!!!!! The tech ended up telling me I'm SOL (in a nice way. My review is not about tech but the company) After he disconnected my propane I tried calling the office around 1pm... wouldn't you know it the same thing was happening! After that I called another company who answered right away and is now delivering a brand new tank for me! It's probably going to cost more in start up fees due to a new tank but I'd pay anything to get away from a company that has no respect for their customers. STAY FAR AWAY! Don't think you HAVE to use this company. It's not like SDGE. There are many propane companies out there. Ones that will treat you like actually customers. Propane buyers beware!! This company has no ethics or customer service. They will over charge you by 2 to 3 times. The rental fee for your tank will be accured whether you inform them you are ending your service and request them to pick up their tank. 120 days later they will finally pick up their tank and charge you $220 dollars to pick up their tank which you no longer use. I don't normally write reviews, but after a long and grueling experience I have had the past two weeks it's a must. I actually would give it a -10 if I could. Trying to make a long story shorter, (yes it's actually shorter) we have a property 3 hours away from where we live. Amerigas customer service assured us our propane would be delivered on Tuesday Nov 10th. After I had to call them for update status, which they are suppose to call us the night before to let us know. Our son and his friends drive out Monday night and Tuesday at 1:30 AFTER we called to get an ETA said they took us off the schedule and rescheduling us later that week. Thursday morning at 6:30am I call to find out when they were going back out and to my surprise I'm told that day between 12-4. We drop everything arrange for kids to be picked up from school leave work and again drive 3 hours one way because I was told "100% they will be there" we are number 10 in the lineup. I call every hour on the hour keeping track of our driver and at 4:30 I'm told the driver had an emergency and they are rescheduling for Saturday. Reassured by their "scheduler" they have us as "priority" . We go back Saturday and at 2pm they say "sorry we are coming out Monday now ". We tell them we can't keep making 6 hour turn around trips, leave work and spend gas to drive there for nothing. So They recommend putting a lockbox on the gate for the driver so we don't have to come back a 4th. time. We did called twice to be sure they had the code and that the driver knows. Both times reassure us they do this all the time not a problem. I call today to follow up to make sure the propane is delivered and I'm told " sorry the gate was locked we couldn't get in". They have my 900 dollars for two weeks no propane and when I called for the 100th time I'm now super pissed mined you so I'm using bad language but tell the customer service rep I'm not mad at you I'm just really pissed at their poor customer service and that we can't get a manger to call us back every time we ask for over a week and then he hangs up on me! I really hope they record all my calls this is crazy! I won't stop until I get answers from somebody high up in this company to explain to me why this is ok! I would not do business with this branch! I scheduled a delivery 2/28/22. The delivery window was 3/1/22-3/7/22. I work but told the person I called that the gate would be closed but unlocked. They assured me they left a note for the driver. I got a call at work that the gate was closed when the driver arrived on 3/8/22. I called right back and no one answered my call or returned my call after I left a voicemail on the driver's phone. They said the gate was locked but it was latched but most definitely not locked... I called Amerigas customer service back 3/9/22 and they rescheduled the delivery for 3/9/22-3/16/22. I advised them of the situation and they said they would have someone contact me with the definite delivery date so I could be sure to be home. No one ever called. I called again and they said it was scheduled to be on 3/14/22. I called today 3/14/22 to verify and they said it is not scheduled to be today. I again advised them that I work and would not be home 3/15/22 or 3/16/22 and didn't want to experience the gate fiasco all over again, since apparently the driver does not know how to lift up a latch and push open a gate. I asked for a supervisor at least 5 times on several different days but none was every available; they are always in entire day "meetings." One time they did transfer me to a "supervisor" but it turned out the girl was in the "resolution" team and she was the one who assured me she would call me back with a definite delivery date but no call was ever received. So, this "resolution" specialist resolved nothing and she clearly wasn't a supervisor. I am still without gas over 2 weeks later, with no delivery in sight. I am astounded by the level of service this "business" provides. A chimpanzee could provide more quality service... DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY WITH THIS SAD EXCUSE FOR A BUSINESS!!! Horrible customer service. My family had been a customer for more than 20 years and when we bought the property from the family we stayed with Amerigas, close to 20 years ago. I am so disgusted and disappointed with the service we received when we had a recent emergency need. We ran out of gas and called for an emergency delivery. We agreed to pay an extra $200 for delivery within 24 hours. We called back 24 hrs later asking where they were and were told we did not get delivery due to not paying the $200 up front (which they did not ask for). We were then told it was really $300 for a 24 hr delivery and $200 for 24-48 hrs. On hold multiple times for almost an hour. End result we cancelled our account and told them to take their tank. So clueless about customer service that they asked why we were cancelling. Not the way yo treat a long time customer when there have an emergency need. They also had the nerve to say we wouldn't be having this issue if we ordered when the tank was at 25%! No kidding, we obviously realize that and based on that were willing to pay the emergency delivery fee. Must be nice for that customer service associate to be perfect and never make a mistake. Don't buy from Amerigas! Go with a company with real CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

PROFLAME PROPANE aka AMERIGAS.. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE FYI if you are signed up for estatements and make payments online, their system is faulty!! Proflame knocked on my door today and said I had not made a payment in 3 years and they were locking my propane tank. I say "this is impossible, I pay it online every month and have for years!" My bank statement proves this, and I have screenshots from their website with receipts that they have been paid. However there is a glitch and their website will not communicate with their actual billing in the office. #1 They should not offer e-statements or payments through a website if their technology is not working #2 Id think if I seriously hadnt paid my bill in 3 years, I would have expected them to at least call me or send me a letter or even an email #3 They were so rude and condescending on the phone threatening to lock my propane tank when the mistake is 100% theirs. Rae and Tiffany would not even listen, were very rude, and I was in tears for about an hour on the phone with them. NOT RECOMMENDED!!!! GO ANYWHERE ELSE!! And if you are a current customer using their online system and e-statements, you may be surprised to know that although you think youve paid on time every month, that they are too inept to actually accept the online payments. read more

Working with this company is like stepping back into the 1950s. They close every day for 2 hours for lunch and don't answer the phone! So you have to find the time to call them during your own busiest hours. Then when you do remember, most of the time you get a recording that says that "your local office is not available to take calls." Long story short, it takes about 20 phone calls to finally reach a real person. Once you get a hold of them, they are crabby about half the time and disorganized all the time. They seem to love to bill you for stuff you've already paid for, but if you call and ask about it, they can never figure out why they send you a bill in the first place. So usually the fees are waived. Sadly, the easiest way to get a hold of them is to get in the car and drive to the office - ideally on a day when it's pouring rain so you won't have to deal with a line of other people who were tired of calling. Thank goodness, I refused the auto refill plan, so I didn't have to deal with all of the creative billing drama that others have reviewed before me. But the alternative isn't that fun either. I use up all of the gas in my tank until one day my shower isn't hot anymore and then I have to take cold showers for a week until they meander their way to my neighborhood to give me a refill. Based on these other reviews, this actually seems like the best option - other than, of course, choosing a different company. read more

Proflame aka Amerigas gets a Zero star rating. First being on a meter. I was being charged about $6+ a gallon. Their drivers never called when they were going to fill. I called in January for a pick up of their equipment and to cancel. I called to follow up on pick up a month later and they never put the order in. And now I have to store their tank for over 3 months because they can't get anyone out here until March 21. Horrible customer service. Sad I stayed with them for 3 years to be treated so poorly and extremely over priced goods. read more

This is the worst company I have ever had the displeasure to work with. I received a bill in the mail for $1200. I immediately called and spoke with someone who said that's obviously a mistake and we'll call you back. Nothing. Next call, no that's not a mistake but let me look into it and call you back. Nothing. Left a message next. Nothing. I finally TOOK A DAY OFF OF WORK to get this taken care of. Elizabeth in their "accounting office" is a royal b-tch, but someone else in the office directed me to the district manager who was at the ProFlame location. I went and spoke with BEN SULZER, and he guaranteed he would look into this and call me back. Nothing. Left several messages for him. Nothing. I finally left a message on the Amerigas national Facebook page, and within 2 weeks BEN finally left me a message that he'd take off $1K, and they'll replace the bad meter. The problem is that my bill is now over $2,200 (for propane!!) Next I know they are taking me to collections and the collection agency claims that Amerigas never offered the $1K adjustment. The original collection agent indicated that she hears this same type of story over and over from the people she has to call for them. I now have a new person from this collection agency who is getting nasty with me, but I refuse to pay them a dime until this is resolved to my satisfaction. The bummer is that I work in accounting, and I know how easily this could have been resolved. read more
