The guys here have two important qualities that I look for in a mechanic. 1. They're competent. 2. They're honest. They've never tried to upsale me unneeded services, in fact they have told me that I don't require services I have requested, and every time they catch something going wrong, they'll show me the problem. They've diagnosed several mystery issues I've had with my vehicles and got them running right. They have fair pricing on their parts and labor with a solid garuntee on their work. There is a lot to say about Country Tire & Auto in Ramona. I was in a pretty bad spot with my car, and while I had a pretty good idea of what the issue was, I didn't have the time, tools, or space to do the work myself. A friend of mine told me to check this place out. I don't particularly like going to mechanics because they have a tendency to not listen to the customer, and then they find a million issues that are not really true. I rolled into the shop and was greeted by Jeff, the owner, I believe. He was very friendly, and professional. He listened to everything I had to say. I informed him that I had already purchased the part that I wanted to swap out, but I just didn't have the tools to do it. I asked if he could use the part I already had, to which he told me that he couldn't. I was a little disappointed, but he gave me a very understandable explanation, and I appreciated the honesty and professionalism very much. The crew quickly got my car into the bay to take a look at the issue. Within 10 minutes, Jeff called me over to let me know what the issue was. He had another mechanic, Kenny, come over and give his opinion as well. The fact is, the part that I wanted to replace may not be in the greatest condition, but it was by no means failing. The problem was very simple to resolve, and they had me out of there a few minutes later. Jeff and the guys didn't make me feel dumb for misdiagnosing the issue. They appreciated all of the feedback that I gave them. They didn't try to upsell me. They got me back on the road quickly. They even offered some free advice on how to fix another issue that wasn't major (yet) but could potentially become if I don't resolve it. I also watched these guys work with other customers, and they all received the same level of professionalism. This shop is a diamond in the rough, and the guys that work there are awesome. I highly recommend Ramona Country Tire & Auto to anybody. Special shout out to Jeff and Kenny for taking care of my car. I had THE BEST experience at Country Tire & Auto. I had taken my truck to the dealership for a regular oil change (a mistake, I know), I was told that my truck needed 3,000.00 in suspension work. I was so bummed because that was an expense I was not planning on. My friend suggested I get a second opinion from the guys at Country Tire & Auto. I spoke to Jeff and Kenny. They were both super nice and extremely honest. They could have taken advantage of the situation but instead took the opportunity to show me how the dealership led to me. I called to get a couple of estimates. One was for a tire rotation, an average estimate for a 4 tire replacement and an estimate for a coolant sensor replacement (I had already purchased the part from O'Reilly per O'Reilly's suggestion). The man that answered, I believe his name was Jeff, was quite rude. He did give me estimates but when it came to the coolant sensor replacement he said they don't install customer parts (which I can understand) but all he said was that "it may need a dealer part. And that's where we're at with that" I just found the "and that's where we're at with that" kind of rude. I thought he still would've given me an estimate on it or asked more questions so he could give an estimate on how much they would charge for putting in their part but he was very short with me and did not seem like he wanted to be on the phone. I just said thank you and hung up. The way he came across over the phone did not make me want to take my car there and have to deal with that in person. There are plenty of great reviews though so, he might've just been having a bad day. This is just my experience. read more

We have been taking our vehicles to Country Auto and Tire in Ramona for several years now. One of them was an old Lexus ES300 that needed a timing belt. The repair was done, but did cause another part (camshaft timing sprocket I think) that apparently had a hairline crack that had been undetected to fail. That failure led to me being stranded on the road causing a tow back to Country Tire and Auto. Although the failure was not their fault..and I was very upset over the issue; they took the car back, got a new sprocket and repaired it for me free of charge. They did not have to do this. I was deeply grateful. They own their work, they are highly responsible and diligent and they care about their customers. I highly recommend them. read more

I stopped by the other day after the place next door was too busy to take my car and they recommended these guys. I had no idea that they actually took care of anything other than tires, but I am glad that they do. They changed my brake pads and gave me an oil change in under an hour. And they didn't pull the whole "we cannot let you leave unless we fix your flux capacitor" spiel that most Auto places do. Place was very reasonable too, considering how much a synthetic oil change and new brake pads usually run. I do have to minus about half a star though because they apparently do not fill your washer fluid when you get an oil change like most places do and, as everyone knows, your windshield wiper fluid light coming on is how you know it is time for an oil change. read more

Had a rodent crew thru the wiring to the crankshaft position sensor preventing the car from starting. That sensor isn't in an impossible location but not easy either. Feared a horrific estimate involving removing the manifold and replacing the wiring harness in the hundreds. This shop was great. One hour of labor and they simply reattached the wiring with barrel connectors and shrink wrapped it to protect the connection (which I tried but a handicap prevented me from getting into the necessary location to access the wiring). Kudos to an honest auto shop. Would highly recommend and being new to the area will be taking both my vehicles there from yearly maintenance. read more
