Who knew that I could feel so relaxed in just 30 quick minutes? The time may have flown by, but the tranquility, relaxation, and positive energy I experienced, left a lasting impression. Before I arrived at Amethyst, I knew that I would be in great hands with Shelley. I emailed her in advance to ask a few questions about the experience. I've had neck and nerve issues from traditional hair washes in a bowl at a salon, so I wanted to make sure this would be safe for me. Shelley responded promptly and made me feel completely at ease. This would not be a traditional salon experience! Shelley greeted me as soon as I walked into the salon (Amethyst Headspa is located inside Concept Salon) and walked me back to her Oasis. The room had dim purple lighting which immediately transported me from "real life" to a gorgeous pamper studio. She thoroughly explained what to expect and gave me ample time to get ready. I received the Rock'NRoll rejuvenating Headspa treatment which included a hair wash (shampoo and conditioner tailored to my dry and curly hair), scalp and shoulder massage, and a quick blow dry. Shelley made sure I was comfortable and perfectly positioned on the headrest. She then gave me a warm eye mask and encouraged me to just let go and relax. She gently took my hair in her hands and placed it in the water. The water halo (the glowing bowl in the pictures) sprinkled water and gently tickled my scalp, while Shelley's well trained hands massaged my head, neck, and shoulders. Within seconds, all of the tension, stress, and the headache I walked in with, just washed away. The trickling sound of water, the soothing music, and Shelley's calming energy made for the most relaxing experience! Wowza!!!!! This was an unbelievably amazing service. I was super excited going into it after seeing head spas flood my TikTok FYP recently. So when this event popped up, I was overjoyed. I was immediately relaxed by the atmosphere and Shelley's soothing spirit. She was very kind and welcoming and explained everything very well. I was able to get comfy and then the magic began! The water flow system is SINFULLY WONDERFUL. Perfectly warm and delicate on the scalp. And the massage.... Wow oh wow how coming and relaxing it was. Both on the neck and shoulders and especially the scalp. After the wash, condition, and massages came the hair dry. Very soothing and relaxing. Over all this was an outstanding experience and I hope to be back again. It's definitely worth the splurge. read more

Wow! Just what I needed. Shelley gave excellent service and explained to me the entire process. She also gave me some great recommendations on hair care and skin care products afterwards. I told her I was almost about to snore just before she finished! This was so relaxing, and definitely something that needs to be added to your rotation of self-care! I am still sitting here basking in the glow of relaxation. Shelley was amazing explaining everything before proceeding. I am not a fan of a massage with touching certain areas but this was EXACTLY what I DO like with massaging areas that I'm comfortable with and which are head/neck where I carry the majority of my stress. Relaxing atmosphere and smelled beautiful yet not overpowering. I'm already looking for buying gift certificates for loved ones! **I missed seeing it the first time driving by as it's inside of a salon. Look for the sign on the sidewalk. read more

With 30 years in the beauty industry, I wanted to bring something different to the Triad by creating a luxury experience focused on scalp wellness, hair care, relaxation, and self-care in one service. When Amethyst Headspa began, Headspa services were virtually non-existent in the area, and I was proud to help introduce this concept locally. The business quickly grew through referrals and loyal guests who loved both the experience and results. The name Amethyst was chosen because it is associated with peace, intuition, and the crown chakra—reflecting relaxation, renewal, and elevated care. My goal has always been to create more than a service: a place where guests can escape stress, feel pampered, and leave refreshed. That same mission continues today through quality care, genuine hospitality, and an experience guests remember long after they leave.

It's been years since I had been to Balance Day Spa, but I remembered they offered discounted seasonal special facials on weekdays. They still do! In addition to the facial, I booked a pedicure while my friend got a massage. The other thing I learned from a friend about Balance Day Spa is they now have a sauna/steam room that you can go enjoy for an hour before or after your appointments. I highly recommend taking advantage of these amenities if you have appointments. It really kicked up the value and relaxation. This area was deluxe. You are given a locker to put your belongings as well as a robe and slippers. They have bathrooms and changing areas. The steam room and saunas could benefit from operation instructions, but once we figured it out - boy it felt great. There is also an additional private sitting room with comfy recliners and a faux fireplace. Really gets you in the right head space before appointments. I started with my Classic Pedicure. My technician was nice but pretty quiet. After soaking in the basin, my nail's were trimmed and shaped, followed by cuticle care and callus removal. Followed by a solid foot and leg massage. She wrapped my feet in warm towels which felt great. Then she carefully added the purple polish I selected. It was a really pretty color. They had lots of color options - regular and shellac. Their nail room was on the smaller side, but could accommodate two people at once. You are seated in the traditional upright massage chair you get at most nail salons. But the room is at the front of the building so it gets a lot for street noise. The bright fluorescent lights are on full blast. There are these big front windows and they have no curtains. You feel a bit exposed (especially if you are in your robe) to be honest. Sadly, the relaxing and calming ambiance is currently very lost in this space. I only had a few minutes under the toe dryer before I was called for my facial. I would have preferred to do toes second so I didn't have to worry about potentially smudging them, but that wasn't how it was scheduled. Just had to leave my feet outside of the sheets and keep the toe separators in. The facial room was much more inviting. Nice blue tones and dim lighting. As part of my seasonal facial, I got to pick between two scrub scents. I went for the Harvest Apple variety that smelled amazing. We started with a consultation followed by the usual cleansing, steam, exfoliation, extractions, mask, serums, and moisturizer. The facial was overall very relaxing and my skin felt so much better afterward. The extractions were a bit painful compared to what I am used to. I was legit tearing up. I think she noticed this but didn't say anything and just cut this part short. The esthetician also did a little lip balm type treatment. A nice extra I don't think I've ever had during a facial. But hey lips need love too so I'm down. After she gently recommended a product to help with my dry skin. Checkout was a bit of a mess. My appointments got merged with my friends (as she booked for us both) and the receptionist struggled to separate. Seems they use an outside service for scheduling and it caused some problems. The system wouldn't allow us to pay for both of ours services on one transaction. So had to do multiple. This made checkout take longer than it should and was frustrating. Quick jolt back to reality, when I wanted to stay in my spa la la land! All in all a lot of positives here if you want a some treatments, but a few opportunities for improvement as well.

We used to go all the way to Advance to be pampered by the best in the biz, but since her retirement, we've been looking for something a little closer to home. That's where Balance Day Spa hit the scene. They were particularly enticing due to their late hours during the week. After perusing their website, I called to schedule two services for my bestie and me as a belated birthday celebration. A pedicure and a facial for her, and a facial and a massage for me! My bestie and I arrived about 40 minutes prior to the scheduled start of our services. Upon arrival, we were given a tour of the amenities, and we were eager to begin enjoying them. Balance Day Spa really brings it when it comes to providing everything you could need. They have lockers for your personal belongings, robes, and sandals in case you didn't bring your own. I appreciated that they use regular keys for their lockers rather than combination locks, which stresses me out. After we changed into our robes, we hit the steam room first. There were no formal instructions on how to use either the steam room or the sauna, but we eventually figured it out. We enjoyed about 15 minutes in both the steam room and the sauna. Then we drank some water and ate some mixed nuts as we waited to be called back for our services. They also offered complimentary coffee and tea. My first service was a facial with Jessica. Before we started, she asked questions about my typical skin-care routine and when I last had a facial. She also asked if I was okay with her performing extractions if needed, and I said yes. Before she started, I had to choose between a harvest apple or an amber scent for my service. I opted for the amber option. The facial was very relaxing with all the typical components of cleansing, exfoliating, applying a face mask, massaging, moisturizing, and applying a lip moisturizer at the end. The extraction process was particularly painful to the point of bringing me to tears. I think a mid-extraction check-in would have been nice, so I could have asked for a brief respite as she wiped away my tears. Alas, beauty is pain, as they say. At the end of the service, she recommended a product she thought could help reduce the redness on my face. She let me take a picture of it, and I appreciated that she wasn't particularly pushy about it. I began my massage service with Stephanie by completing an intake form to disclose any concerns and talk through any problem areas. Although I thought I had completed this in advance, it was only an intake form for the Esthetic service. Looking back at the ample texts I received before arriving, I only received one text with a link to complete an intake form, which could be why this was missed. I wanted a relaxing massage, and Stephanie utilized low to medium pressure to meet my expectations. A massage never feels long enough, but that's how I know it was a good massage. At the time of booking, I didn't realize that Balance Day Spa utilizes a call center to handle its scheduling. This became abundantly clear when it came time for us to check out at the end of our visit. For whatever reason, the way the call center booked the services caused the woman checking us out to run our cards twice, once for each service. This felt clunky and is a valid reason to bring scheduling in-house if it causes this awkwardness to be the last impression you leave on a customer. All in all, I was satisfied with my experience at Balance Day Spa. It felt very corporate, and I hope that the next stop on our facial tour has a more personal touch.

I want to be clear - I'm not someone who doesn't know what a good facial looks like. I've been getting facials my whole life and I know exactly what proper skincare treatment feels and looks like. This was nowhere close. To make it worse, when I headed to the front desk, my esthetician didn't say goodbye, offer any aftercare tips, or even acknowledge me - she just walked away. And then the front desk staff directly asked me for a tip, which felt completely inappropriate given the experience I just had. The overall vibe of this place is not that of a spa - it feels like a business that's only focused on upselling and taking your money. There's no genuine care for the client or the service being provided. I left feeling like my service was intentionally neglected because I declined the upsell. Bottom line: this place might be okay for a massage, but I would not recommend it for any facial treatments. The skill, attention, and professionalism required for proper skincare just isn't here. Very disappointing - I won't be returning.

I don't know if it's the products or what but I have never had that happen before. I may or my not return to this salon, I definitely would not let that particular lady service me again. I should have simply taken my nail polish with me on vacation and did my own nails!

Other than the standard and spa like treatments, there's also services dedicated to those who are diabetic, geriatric, and deal with harsh calluses and dry skin. My consultation with Vay (the owner) was for a couple of calluses and layered skin on a corn in between my little toe and the one next to it. She also gave me my first pedi. The seating was is very comfortable. She was friendly, focused, and thorough tending to my concerns. You can tell this is an art for her and she's serious about her work. I was nervous about it feeling uncomfortable, but totally the opposite. I left with my feet feeling amazing. The callus and corn between my toes was so smoothed out that I was pain free. Haven't experienced that in a very long time. No other salon tried to help with the layered skin, so I stopped going. The polish lasted about 3 weeks and pedi was good for a little over 4 weeks (the smoothness of what's between my toes). The salon itself feels spacious, clean, and I love the layout and color scheme. The music is loud enough to sing along to, but low to where it's not overwhelming. They also offer water and coffee. Despite the prices being a little high, it's been worth every single cent! I chose the remedy package that includes foot cleansing, nail and cuticle care that rehydrates the feet with a relaxing foot massage with oil and warm towel wrap. Finishing off with choice of color and polish. The salon was located on the first floor in a quiet building located at the mixed use Revolutionary Mill. Going for waterless pedicure comes with alot of benefits. It is ecofriendly, diabetic and geriatric friendly,calluses and dry skin is more visible to care for, allows nail polish to last longer and reduces the risk of cross contamination. This pedicure took a little over a hour to be done. It was a good experience. Also known as "Russian Pedicures".

When I asked them to remove the remaining nails, they tried to charge me an additional fee, which felt unfair given the situation. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this place due to the lack of accountability and unprofessional customer service.
