ON BILLING: Have you ever given a panhandler money just to get them to leave you alone so you are basically paying them to go away? That's how I feel about this practice. I went to Dr Kane about 1-2x a month for a couple of years paying my insurance co-pay and assuming everything was fine because I was not getting bills from my insurance, then all of a sudden I got a bill from the office for $500+, basically for the entire time I had been going. If AFC had been billing me regularly it wouldn't have been such a shock. That was last August and I haven't been back. It is May now and I finally received my $40 bill for my final two visits which were late last Summer; hopefully this will take care of it for good. The treatments are beneficial, just please be prepared and make sure you have all of your billing firmly understood to avoid any unpleasant surprises. Another sticker-shock note: Dr Kane charges every adjustment, manual or verbal, a la carte. That means if he lays a hand on you he is keeping track of it and billing you for it. If he gives you a verbal piece of advice, such as, 'You might try sleeping with one pillow instead of two,' he will bill you for it. My chiropractor back in Nashville charged a flat rate per visit. With AMC the visit price is going to vary wildly up and down depending on what you have done and how many questions you ask, so be very purposeful with your inquiries: you are not asking anything casually and do listen carefully because every answer is costing you money. I wish I could give AFC a good review for the times they helped me but the aftertaste is just so unpleasant that it makes me regret letting my guard down and being so trusting with them for so long. read more

I called Dr Kane's office the morning that I woke up with terrible lower back pain. Luckily they found time to squeeze me in on the same day. What can I say? I left his office with substantially less pain and within a few days I was back to normal. Dr. Kane is extremely professional, but warm and efficient. Dr. Kane gave a thorough first examination and helped identify my problems. Their computer system of tracking your progress is very helpful. He helped me align my hips, ease my lower back problems, and align my ankles. Insurance paid for most of it. He does both adjustments and he also uses the clicking alignment tool. I visited Dr. Kane after a bad fall and sciatic nerve pain and he got my back into alignment. After a few months, lower back pain returned and after two visits back to feeling great again. I cannot even begin to describe how phenomenal this man is. Anyone who can stop a migraine in its tracks is a godsend in my book. A calm, empathetic doctor is hard to come by and Dr. Kane is the real deal. I've also never found a support staff as wonderful as his assistant, Janet. Warm, welcoming, and willing to commiserate, she brightens my day each time I enter the office. Dr. Kane may not be a miracle worker but he comes pretty darned close. My first chiropractic experience and I couldn't imagine it being any better. The whole enchilada is wonderful. Janet, the receptionist, is just a great person, welcoming, pleasant and able. She dealt with the insurance company requirements knowledgeably. Always good to see her. There is an absolutely awesome schefflera tree/bush thing in the waiting area. It makes me very happy. Had a very poor experience here, both in terms of adjustments (causing more pain) and an overall lack of compassion. I felt bullied, condescended, and that he was hurrying me along to get to his next 15 minute appointment. I have been to many chiropractors over the years and Dr Kane has been the first to give me long term relief from my back pain. He really listenes and makes it his goal to not have to come in all the time. With previous chiropractors I had to go every week or two but with Dr Kane he has made it so I can go weeks and sometimes months without an adjustment. This was the worst experience of my life, I feel like I was scammed. I later found out that my "treatment" was not appropriate for my condition at all, and I was told to come in 4 times a week, which is unusual. My concerns were not listened to and each session consisted of the same sensationalized cracking instead of the delicate touch of what I later learned to be an actual chiropractor. Further, the insurance was not handled properly and I received a mysterious letter (after I stopped going when I noticed that my problem actually worsened), stating that the co-pay had actually been higher than what I paid.
